Front desk staff unfriendly & sometimes unnecessarily combative. Very disappointing as we liked the vet.

In April of this year, we had to have our dog Louie euthanized because of lymphoma. It was…read moredevastating (our pets ARE our children). Uxbridge Animal Hospital did an amazing job making one of the worst days of our lives a little easier. We recommended them to all the pet owners we know. We adopted another dog soon after, Charlie. Charlie was loved unconditionally and was treated with the same love that we give his 6-month-old (human)brother. He was outside all day every day with my husband- he spent a lot of time training him, he even trained him to track in the woods. We had a crate set up in our room for him, but he slept in bed with us every night. When we first got Charlie, he had very sad eyes. We were able to change that. Unfortunately, Charlie chewed on a piece of plastic that he shouldn't have. His chewing was actually our biggest concern during his last checkup. We bought him all sorts of chew toys, and I would buy him bone marrow bones from the butcher in hopes it would keep him busy. We tried to make sure he wasn't able to get anything dangerous, but accidents do happen. Charlie became really sick all of a sudden. We called Uxbridge animal hospital and told them it was an emergency first thing in the morning. They said they couldn't get us in until 4:15pm. As Charlie was getting worse, we called back in hopes that they would get us in sooner. That did not happen. We arrived a few minutes early to our appointment. We had to sit with him in our car 15 minutes after our appointment was supposed to start. We waited another 20 minutes in the room before we were seen. When the Veterinarian arrived, she diagnosed him with having a blockage based on the samples we brought with us. We were already heartbroken because we knew given our financial situation, we would have to make a decision we didn't want to make. The vet told us that it was going to cost upward of $5,000. I don't know anyone that has that money on hand-especially the way things are right now. When the vet said she knew someone that takes in animals and will pay for their surgery, but they will find him a new home after, we agreed. He had a whole life to live so we thought it would be the best option for him. The vet said it was a woman she knew personally that raises money so she can afford to pay for what Charlie needed. We specifically asked what our options were-we were never informed that there are grants we could have applied for or even a payment plan option. The next morning while our family was already having an extremely hard time not having Charlie home with us, I received a message from a woman that works for the adoption agency we got him from. She said "we got OUR dog back. How dare you surrender him because he needed surgery. I have placed you in the do not adopt list. You do not deserve another animal." I did not know that I would be discriminated against by this adoption agency because my family is unable to immediately afford a surgery of that cost. Especially when resources that could have helped were never told to us. If that is the case, then I suppose the agency should be looking further into everyone's finances before they are able to adopt. I was unaware that money is more important than being able to provide a loving home. I feel I was lied to by the vet about where he was going. I feel that the options that were given to us by the vet were misleading and information that could have helped us was hidden from us. We want nothing more than to have Charlie back home with us. I will NEVER recommend Uxbridge Animal Hospital to another person again.

You tell me that not only are you going to perform an entire exam*,do blood work*, perform unnecessary painful x-rays*, and who knows what else you're doing or NOT doing because I am not there with her, but you will absolutely not allow me to come in to hold her while you euthanize her.....ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??????!!!!!!! She is my daughter and there is no reason for you to do any thing other than let these poor babies have their last moments in the hands of their loved ones!!! I went directly to Franklin and I had absolutely no issue with going in and holding my baby the entire time and staying with her for I don't know how long. It was so difficult to leave her. You are supposed to UNDERSTAND that they are our FAMILY MEMBERS!! Where the heck is the compassion and empathy for the loss of a family member? Dr. Sandler is rude and extremely mean towards the animals and I have on several occasions heard her screaming at the dogs in the kennels to "shut up" like that's going to make a difference. Then she will go in and kick the cages. She is rough with the animals. Dr. Susan Adams-Conley, I'm afraid that you're going to lose your business if you don't replace that nasty woman!!! I can not recommend anyone who is looking for a veterinarian to go to you for the reasons I mentioned above. Your facility also is in desperate need of a major makeover. I have always had a really great experience with Dr. Adams-Conley. I also have to say that your prices are actually really high compared to what the other veterinarians are charging. *All you want is MONEY!!

Within seconds, he started to panic. I opened his mouth and he was blue... I immediately called Milford Animal Hospital where it is less than a mile from my work. I told them that I was 2 minutes away, he was blue and barely breathing and her response was, "Sorry, we do not accept new patients." ARE YOU &@$#%&# SERIOUS??? NEVER in my 25 years of working in Emergency Veterinary Medicine would I EVER, EVER refuse to see an animal in respiratory distress, especially to the point that they were blue. Thankfully, it was an acute reaction and Mendon Animal Clinic did not hesitate to ask me, "How long before you're here?" Those would have been my exact words if the role was reversed. Bowie is now doing well, huge shout out to the girls at MENDON ANIMAL CLINIC!!! You Rock! On the other hand, SHAME ON YOU "MILFORD ANIMAL HOSPITAL".... you messed with the wrong girl. If only I had switched sooner he may not have needed to have so many teeth removed. Thank you to the staff as well...great group of people.
