I am an avid Goodwill shopper I shop at Goodwill's all over the United States. It is my hobby, my joy. This is the first Goodwill (6899 Stage Rd.) In Memphis, that I have come to that the manager JaVale was her name and she was rude and refused to honor the prices on the merchandise that an employee in the blue vest put on the merchandise. She was very rude as we were talking to her about the merchandise. She just kept saying, have a good night, trying to rush us out of the store loudly embarrassingly in front of all of the other staff that was there I would not have made a review if it wasn't for the fact that she is the manager the face of this location. This is the first Goodwill, where I have had this horrible experience if I was not a lover of the Goodwill, the mission and the prices she would have caused me to never shop at another Goodwill. To let you know how much I love the Goodwill I spent over $200 in New Orleans goodwill on my way home from a cruise before coming to this Memphis location on the same day. I started to go to the Salvation Army but I love the Goodwill. I also hope she does not retaliate on the employee because all they did was help me find the prices that fell off on the bin. The price points are always great. This location also has a additional area that has extra reduced pricing as well. The store is very clean and easy to navigate through. I love the way they have things organized. You can shop with a breeze. They still require mask and social distancing. read more

I used to not be able to go more than a few days without stopping in to see what new items had come in. I had a stroke and don't get out now like I used to. It had been a couple of years since I'd been there when I stopped by last week. The entire inside had been changed, so I had to look around to find the sections I wanted. The place seemed dirtier than I'd ever seen it. I had come in on a day that had been advertised as "50% off red-tag merchandise. However, when I got to the register, I was told that my items that had red tags on them were not the "red-tag" items that were on sale. I still don't know what kind of red tags are on sale! I think GW should be more explicit as to what kind of red-tags they are. Otherwise, I feel like they're using a bait and switch to lure in customers, knowing that we're unlikely to put our merchandise back after spending an hour or more shopping for them. read more

This was literally the worst goodwill I've ever been to in my life. I went thrifting with a friends her because last time I went here (around the end of last year) it was okay...not the best but okay. When we came here everything was unorganized, kids shirts with womens, mens pants with kids clothing just a mess. You can't really find anything! The clothes were also super overpriced for a thrift store, I I bought two shirts for 10 dollars , one was a childrens shirt. I would recommend driving some more so that you can go to an actual well kept store. I can say that the cashier was really sweet though. read more

The store is well organized and I found a terrific selection of formal gowns. I am a ballroom dancer and not from the area so when I travel I'm always looking for dance gowns. This location was a jackpot find with two beautiful, what appeared new, pageant type gowns for $30. ea. The dressing room floors were not clean, sadly and dragging these dresses around those was a bit disconcerting. They had an organized system for there dressing rooms which was nice. Came in this evening at 7:30, hoping to find a couple of long skirts and a couple of shirts for work before they closed at 8. At 7:45 I was ready to try on a handful and was told then that the dressing rooms were closed. Why post store hours as closing at 8 when parts of the store start closing earlier? People who are shopping for clothes are going to want to try them on before buying them. If you're going to close the dressing room earlier than your posted store hours, then post that somewhere. read more

If you can stand the smell then this place will reward you with a large and always changing selection of books. GW has a great selection of used books. Most in excellent condition but some as ratty as you might expect discarded books to be. A hardcover book is usually priced at $2.99 but there doesn't seem to be any consistent pricing policy here. Sometimes there will be a book with one price and an identical book right next to it with a different price. Also, be sure to go around the side to the Bargain Barn (we call it "The Secret Door"). Believe it or not it is GW's discount outlet. Everything in bins so you have to sift through a bunch of stuff (sometimes pretty nasty), but hardcover books that didn't sell in time in the store are cast-off here and are sold for $1.00 each. Bring hand sanitizer. And for you thrift store types, this is a huge (think Home Depot sized) collection of stuff...dare I say junk? Clothes, shoes, housewares, furniture, wall hangings, or anything else you bargain hunters covet. read more

They're really good about helping you drop off your goods. You just pull up and people are waiting there and they'll give you your tax slip. The place is pretty large and I agree with C.S., you just kind of have to look around and prices will be what they'll be. I've found a slew of cardigans at the Goodwill that have lasted me years, which I have in turn, brought back to Goodwill. I have literally spent three hours rooting around, trying to find those prized things that were once another person's junk. I love that kind of a thing. And I love a good deal. read more

I always find some nice clothing at Goodwill. Today my kids, my mother-in-law, and I went to look around. We found some cute clothes for my daughter. I wish they had more items for my son but boys are rougher on clothing and I am very picky. They do have a wide variety of items. It's interesting to see what all they have. The only thing I wish was better since this is Goodwill and not a high end thrift store is that I wish the store was cleaner. The people working there were very polite and helpful. I went to the Goodwill in off Winchester by Planet fitness. I was looking at this chair that I was going to probably buy. I had a female in there say "excuse me sir you can't sit in that chair." So if u were in the Goodwill to look at a chair to buy ? How are u suppose to know whether the chair is comfortable or not?" They just expect me to pick up some chair made probably in 1980 and buy it. You aren't going to see if it's comfortable. You are going to buy a chair that has springs popping in ur back possibly. I tried to call the corp. Goodwill in stage Rd in Memphis, Tn . No one would answer the phone. Plus, ever since COVID the selections at goodwill seem to be limited or not as much of a deal. They have raised the prices alot. They get these items for free just to remind you ,and Goodwill is suppose to help the people that need help. To the customers be careful on the prices and what u buy here. They also need training on how to talk to customers. They just lost a sale. read more

If you are into thrifting, vintage shopping or designing on a dime this is definitely a shot for hidden treasures. They can be pricey for donated items but I consider it my philanthropic contribution to mankind unless I know I can buy it knew for the same price. Love this place. I have been many times and this Goodwill usually has something that I go in to look for. Huge variety. Some of my favorite clothes came from here. And they have fitting rooms! I think most Goodwills offer this though. What sets it apart are the employees. Employee friendliness has mostly been great. Especially the last few times I have visited, the cashiers up front are very sweet and friendly. Never really interacted with the ones on the floor much. read more

Just skip this place and go to Salvation Army or another goodwill. The cashiers are extremely rude and unprofessional. Went in once and they completely ignored me and were just talking in between each other. One of them also got an attitude with my husband when he had a question about something that was in the case. After that I just left the stuff I was planning on buying and decided not to even bother dealing with them. Things are overpriced as well. Even the Goodwill in Raleigh has better service and prices. Plus it is cleaner and more organized. They really need to fire some of the staff because they obviously don't care about their jobs. I understand they don't get paid all that great but that does not mean they should act rude and unprofessional. If that's the way they act here, I can't imagine how they would act if they were working elsewhere. They would probably run off the customers just like they do here. I will not be going back anytime soon and I know plenty of other people that have had similar experiences and have said the same thing about returning. read more

Went to Good Will on Stage Rd in Memphis today. They had a broken item for sale. It was priced higher, in broken condition, than any other Good Will in the area would have priced it in good condition. I talked to the manager. He told me if it weren't broken it would be 3 times the price. Is it me or is this Good Will branch a ripoff. They have items on display with print offs from eBay auctions, saying the items are worth some inflated price. If you go to eBay, these items are far less than what they have print offs showing and far less than what Good Will is asking. Makes me wonder if they don't post the items themselves at an inflated price and print off the auction, just to post it in the store. Compared to other stores in the area, this one apparently needs a management overhaul. Other than that it's a good facility! read more

I now come here to buy clothes for my baby. This Goodwill has at 6 racks of infant clothes (newborn to 24 months) and they are all 99 cents a piece. The clothes I buy either still have the tags on them or look brand new. Best Goodwill in the area, IMHO. read more

Not a great place. They don't keep their sale promises. I was shopping on a Sunday in which everything with a green tag was 50% off tag price. I was looking at a kayak that was marked with a green tag and when I asked for the discount I was told it was not part of it. There were no signs or notices on it that excluded it from the sale. Don't mark it with a green tag if you're not going to keep your sale promise. Bad business idea. read more
