This experience was just as wonderful, if not more! Our session this year was on this past Sunday, a super cold winter day and we were her last session of the day. We were so excited for the beautiful boho setup and my toddler couldn't wait to see Ms. Anika's horses. When we rolled up, we were greeted by her same warm smile and it felt like it hadn't been a year since we saw her. Anika instantly makes you feel comfortable, which is so refreshing! I enjoy talking to her during the session and in all of our correspondence. She started off taking some photos of my husband and son. My toddler was super distracted by Anika's kitty, which was roaming around. It was so cute, and I don't know how she still managed to get incredibly beautiful photos of him while he was so distracted, but she did. The set for this year was so beautiful, with a boho style egg chair surrounded by sparkling, lit Christmas trees and other Christmas themed decor. She got great ones of all of us sitting in the chair, of myself and my son, and of just him. Once we finished with the set, she allowed my toddler to meet her beautiful horses - and he even got to pet them! 3 days later, he is still talking about the horses on the farm and how much he loved petting them. We then took some photos in a grassy area, with the setting sun behind us providing the most beautiful golden light. All of the photos are just indescribably beautiful. It was even more special that I am pregnant this year (and showing!) so we were able to get some wonderful maternity shots. Thank you, Anika, for giving us these memories two years in a row! I cannot speak highly enough about Amanda's professionalism and passion for this work. Like any new…read moremom, I was so excited to have a Cake Smash session for my little one!! But I also wanted to use it as an opportunity to make a few memories with mom and dad before the icing started flying! From our first call to our last interaction Amanda always provided accurate information about her process, product, and the value of her work. She described the photo session and told us to pick a theme for the shoot. I usually have about a million ideas going through my head, so I really relied on Amanda to recognize what interested us and succinctly come up with an idea(s) that was doable. We settled on "strawberry" and it was PERFECT, being that our baby's absolute favorite food is strawberry. We did both a Cake Smash session + the Family Add-On with all of us. Our daughter is not shy at all, but she clearly had one thing on her mind and that was food! She didn't seem to laugh a lot, which had us worried about the photos that Amanda was able to get -- maybe it was because she was busy eating nearly 8 giant strawberries, and 1/3 of a cake! Despite this hiccup, we were absolutely blown away by the photos Amanda was able to capture. She was patient during the entire shoot, but also very thoughtful with her method for explaining how things would work + directions for parents during the shoot, etc. This made for a really enjoyable experience. Our baby didn't cry once! She was just happy to take it all in and smash some cake. When we got the photos we were genuinely so moved. Amanda truly does have an eye for the camera, and knows exactly what works and what doesn't. AND we even got a handful of photos where our baby is all smiles -- and even I didn't see that during the shoot. I guess I was too busy making sure it all went 'perfectly' -- just goes to show you that the photographer knows 100% what's going on and which shots to capture We will treasure these photos for a lifetime. In comes Melanie, who I happened to find by accident through a Yelp promo email. She had another shoot earlier in the day, but bc we were doing a later beach elopement ceremony and reception, she could do it! She sent me some paperwork to give her details and then we had a phone conversation to discuss and get to know one another.
