Long story, but worth the read. My husband passed away only a few short months ago and my children…read morewanted to visit his grave on Father's Day. They painstakingly looked for a heart shaped stone (as it was a tradition in my family to find them) to place on his grave. They found a fairly large, perfect heart shaped stone (about 10" wide x 8" high and 5" thick). About a week later, my daughter visited the grave site, only to discover that their stone was missing. She went into the office and the woman there gave her very little answers, saying the groundskeeper probably moved it to mow. Later that day I called and left a message asking them what happened to the stone and that I would very much like to come pick it up if it was not allowed on their grounds. She never returned my call. I left her another message, which was finally returned the next day. She claimed that the groundskeeper took the stone and "put it in the dumpster." I said, "he threw it out?" She said yes. I was dumbfounded. I asked why they don't call or at least keep those items for a few days in case someone claims them. All she said was..."I wish I could give you better news." What kind of ultra insensitive person would take such a thing and discard it...put it in the trash as if it meant nothing to anyone. It's a cemetery for goodness sake! Shame, shame on Holy Cross and their workers for having no regard for the loves ones that are left to grieve. If you have a loved one buried in this cemetery, please be aware that certain items may not be allowed on or near the markers. Unfortunately we were not told of any such thing, nor did we get a call regarding the same. Definitely do not leave items of personal and deep emotional attachment as you may find they could disappear without warning.
