Unfortunately dogs are NOT allowed because they want to preserve the nature and wildlife. Plenty of parking spots. Trails are clear and easy to walk along. This is more of a walk than a hike. Trails can get muddy so recommend wearing boots. If you get muddy, there's a boot brush out in front where you can scrub your shoes. Don't forget to pack it in and pack it out! Even with all those negative things Lindenwood still looked pretty and I enjoyed the hike. I was very Underwhelmed by the pond. I expected the pond to be much prettier, bigger and nicer looking but unfortunately it was tiny and very dirty. At least there were visible tadpoles there which was exciting to see. After going in the wrong (south) entrance, we found one of the few remaining parking spots and started walking to the other end of the park. Be careful when walking through this park. There are a lot of cars and not a lot of room to walk on the street. There were many baseball games going on on this Friday night. Every baseball field was being used as well as the bating cage and playground. Eventually we found the turtle at the very north entrance to the park. It was worth it. A large paved walking path, soccer fields, tennis court... not one, but TWO cool (and safe) playgrounds for children 2-12, which have modified equipment for disabled children and gathering spaces for all ages to encourage inclusivity. The bathroom facilities are unfortunately closed (I think this may be for the season,) but there was a portable toilet in the parking lot for use. There is also a splash pad that must be hopping in the summertime! Looking forward to seeing it in action. I don't live close by but the trek is worth it as the possibilities are endless for young children and the young at heart at Kreager Park.

I love going to botanical gardens, conservatories, etc. The website for the garden, "The Friendship Garden was a gift from Fort Wayne's sister city, Takaoka, Japan." I totally wanted to stroll through it and enjoy the day. I was even more interested when i saw that the garden was on the Arts United grounds within walking distance of the Civic Theatre. Since i was going to be watching a play with my family, i thought oh cool we can spend an extra hour or so after in the Japanese garden. Well silly me, I should have noticed this garden was .11 acres in size. You can walk that in 2 minutes. Sure its nice... but very small. I am sure its probably more beautiful when the plants are in bloom, but still... so small. Also the place didn't look as well maintained as it should be. Is it worth seeing... sure if you are watching a play in the Civic Theatre you might as well. They should consider expanding this garden.

People bring their dogs, who aren't up to date on their vaccinations, and dogs who aren't dog friendly. But Fido's Forest? Totally different. You and your dog(s) are the only ones there during your time slot. They still have you send proof of vaccinations. Which is great!! You book your visit online, and then they email you a code for the gate. There are poop bags everywhere for you to use. (But no trashcan, so you have to take it with you.) There is a sign explaining why they don't have a trashcan for poop. They have toys, balls, and Chuck Its for your dog to use. If your dog loves sticks, they will be in Heaven!! There is a cute little area with chairs and tree stumps, for people to sit while their dogs play. There are also some benches. It was just such a great experience and we can't wait to go back!!

I've driven past the entrance for this park for a year and had good intentions of stopping. Today I ran into the one neighbor who doesn't hate me, and he told me I can get to the hiking trails from my neighborhood. Cool! I charged up my 1st gen iPod (seriously), dug out my pig wrestling sneakers (seriously), and my fanny pack (seriously) and off I went. Mengerson is owned and cared for by Acres Land trust since 1989. There are approximately 32 acres of forest and hiking trails are about 1.2 miles. This time of year the trails are ridiculously muddy, so I'm glad I wore my pig shoes. There were several points I just went off trail to avoid standing water, and since the trees and undergrowth is still bare, it wasn't too bad. The hike itself is easy and suitable for just about anyone. There can be deer seen (according to my neighbor) and all sorts of bird species. There are a few neat side trails. You are never far from housing, but it's still quiet (my iPod died in the middle of Bel Biv Devo) and once the trees fill in I imagine it's even more peaceful. Now that I know I can walk to a trailhead and not have to drive and park, I can say I'll be back frequently till the mosquitos drive me away. This is a neat little patch of forest and I highly recommend it. Plus its a pokestop for the three people who still play PokemonGo.
