Great spot for the kids!! Beautiful water, warm and clean.
They have A LOT of rules that defy common sense. I fully understand the rules are to make things safe and they do have a great safety record but come on! First we were told that no floatations devices could be used, life vests, puddle jumpers etc Yet, the water is filled with a children in life vests. When asked why there's were kids using floatation devices the answer I got was "they're in paid lessons". Oh ok, if I pay our kids can use them?!?! Next, a few kids were doggy paddling and back stroking in the pond, the lifeguards blew their whistled and demised the kids swim arm over arm, I'm not kidding! THEN, my daughter wanted a piggy back ride while we wadded in the water, can you guess what happened?!? Yep, lifeguard whistled at us and yelled for her to get off my back and that piggy back rides in the water of any kind is not allowed! Now this insane!! It gets better...they then call a mandatory clearing of the water for a safety test. Upon clearing the water the announce they there will be a 10 minute adults only swim and that all other patrons need to stay out of the water. Well, out of the couple hundred people on the beach, one man entered the water to swim while dozens of children stared at the man while he swam alone in the lake, deep, where no kids ever swim. Several small toddlers were wadding in the water, ankle deep, playing in the sand, the lifeguard comes up and tells everyone to move back one foot from the water line. NOT KIDDING!!!! THEN the group of kids in the life jackets enter the water BUT no one else is allowed in because...can you guess...they paid for the lesson time!!! Once the kids where allowed back in the water I noticed that a small group had gathered on the edge of the dock, very close to shore, no where near deep enough to jump off safely, and within seconds they were flipping and flying of the edge, I witnessed multiple kids get hurt, and the lifeguards did nothing. The toddlers continued throwing their bodies of the dock into knee deep water, which was THE only unsafe event I witnessed while there. Oh and the pond is closing next Sunday, half a month early. When asked why they're closing in such a great time of the year, while kids are still out of school the answer I got was "the lifeguards want to do other things with their summer". Boo hoo hoo
PLEASE city of Natick - look at ridiculous rules you've set forth for this pond, that defy common sense and make some changes for next year. It's a terrible thing to see young minds working within rules that border on moronic, and when challenged they simply have no answer or make up something stupid to try. Yes safely is first but this is too much. read more
