As a first time mom I toured…read more11 daycares and interviewed 6 nannies in the area and ultimately decided to send my 5 month old to LAG with zero regrets. The teachers in the infant room were some of the most warm, welcoming, and wonderful women I know. I genuinely felt like they loved my daughter and knowing she was in such caring hands every day meant so much to me. When picking a daycare you can go somewhere that is simply just going to keep your child's needs met, or you can go somewhere that your child can actually grow. The latter is LAG. There were specific times for activities, music class, snack time, outside time, etc. Even at a young age I noticed the difference in my daughter after her being at LAG. The facility itself is so well-kept. The classrooms are clean, not overwhelming with too many toys or screens or colors, and they have a beautiful outdoor area as well. We unfortunately had to withdraw our daughter from LAG recently because we are relocating to a new area and trust me when I say it was the hardest and saddest decision to make. LAG is such a special place and we feel so lucky our daughter got to attend here.

At first, I thought the parking lot was plain, but as soon as I stepped inside, it was a whole different world! Definetly worth to visit on a tour. I absolutely loved the play yard. They have two main outdoor areas: one for the little kids and another for the older ones. Plus, they have a garden where they plant vegetables and strawberries, and there's plenty of shade everywhere. It's truly a lovely space. The outdoor play area immediately made me feel happy, and I knew this was the place I wanted my kids to be. My daughter attended from ages 2 to 4, and now my son has started at 2 years old. LAC also has an infant center, which looks wonderful! I seen parents taking off their shoes in the infant center, keeping it extra clean! Last year, they did a bunch of new updates in all classrooms and bathrooms. The classrooms are nice and well-maintained. I especially loved Ms. Priscilla, Ms. Joan, and Mrs. Shannon. And if you need anything, ask for Leilany in the office, she's super nice and always helpful. I highly recommend Little Acorns Grow to any parent looking for a nice, clean, beautiful and outdoorsy daycare!

Just another happy parent here! My kids love going to school. Read that back. They love going to…read moreschool and it's all because of the incredible staff and admin at CWC WV. Their rigorous academics, the focus on SEL, and project based learning have given my kids the opportunity to not only learn, but thrive. As a parent, I feel so grateful to have such a supportive community and ample opportunities to volunteer. I'm a full time working parent and the school has found ways for working families to be involved in the community as well. School leadership is accessible and works in partnership with caregivers to addresses concerns, ideas, and more. This community is truly magical. We couldn't be happier to be CWC West Valley Unicorns!

We were beyond disappointed with CWC West Valley. It's a desolate, depressive educational landscape…read morewith a completely absent administration. My husband used to joke and call it kid jail. Sadly, not much laughing was done in the year all three of my kids were at this charter school. After starting in August 2023, by September I was already researching new schools. If I'm being honest, I had red flags simple touring the school, but I dismissed them because the social emotional focus really resonated with us. Turns out that was all performative as well. Classes were brimming and teachers overextended and under supported. The school takes on more IEP students than it can responsibly handle, simply to gain more state funding. It's icky. It feels irresponsible at best and exploitative at worst. So much for a school that prioritizes the social emotional. It's interesting to me how many parents who have never experienced a wonderful school environment (we have been fortunate to have ONLY experienced wonderful school communities outside of this one year at CWC WV) make excuses for the bad behavior at CWC. I can only assume they do this because they have only really ever experienced a school as subpar as CWC. If you're a parent at CWC with reservations, I'm here to tell you that wonderful schools do exist outside of this sad, little bubble. We are at an amazing school this year and we love it. My kids current principal is the figure head of their school, funny and outgoing, accessible to all parents at all times. The principal at CWC hid from us parents and would only come out of hiding to chastise us via email when we had complaints about the school. We were told essentially "good vibes only" in public forums (like parent WhatsApp threads, etc.) about the school and to bring any direct concerns to the administration. Which we would then do and those concerns would go unaddressed and admin was negligently unresponsive. It was a HOT MESS. The lack of transparency felt (again) icky. I can't trust any institution to care for my children that squashes dissent and eschews transparency. Which is hilarious being that their brand is "social emotional." Nahhhh. It's performative. The school does not live up to or implement the values it espouses. A number of Kindergarteners were sent to the principal and VP last year for acting out. Which is wild to me and feels ridiculously punitive for a bunch of five/six-year-olds. It certainly does not align with the philosophy the school promoted to us. The kids were shamed for misbehavior when the teachers and kids alike are not set up for success by the administration jam packing classes. I do not blame the teachers, all three of ours really tried. I fully hold the admin responsible for the chaos at the school. As Dr. Becky would say, if kids are acting up, do you hold the jr. employees responsible or the CEOs? This lack of structure, order and real-life implementation of social emotional values rests squarely on the shoulders of the ineffective admin. There is no nurse on staff. My six-year-old came back to me one day with blood all over the front of her shirt. She had a bloody nose at lunchtime, and the supervision is so lackluster no one was there to support her. Finally she did get to the office but not before she had bled all over herself. The office called and said she needed a change of clothes. Once I got there and she was changed, they dismissively told me to "get the blood out of her hair" before she could return to class. That's a direct quote. Bonkers. In no world is any of this ok. The final cherry on top is they literally shame caregivers into donating and volunteering. Fun times. We were so underwhelmed by the school and yet daily they would solicit our money and time in really shame-y ways. "If we don't meet X donations threshold your kids will lose their amazing access to art/music/etc. If you don't volunteer, we won't have XYZ." The one time my husband and I volunteered for the carpool drop, my husband was yelled at by a lead volunteer. Love these good time social emotional vibes, baby! The school is a mess. Their philosophy sounds good on paper, but their execution of those ideals leaves little to be desired. I remember complaining on a WhatsApp thread (and being silenced by admin) and a bunch of other parents privately DMing me to say they completely agreed with my concerns. We just couldn't complain in any public forums, or we would be shut down which is super shady. What do they have to hide? There was a mass exodus of families our year, and turnover of both families and teachers alike at CWC WV was very high last year. If you're a potential parent, I would advise you to really think this school through. And if you're a parent with a kid at CWC WV, trust your gut if things feel off. Don't let the community gaslight you into believing it's a great school. It's not. Full stop. Your kids deserve better and better absolutely does exist.

VIPHS reports an 81% college-acceptance rate, compared with under 60% at many nearby public high schools. The average class size is about 20 with a 15:1 student-teacher ratio, versus 30-35 students and ratios in the high 20s elsewhere. VIPHS is a close-knit, welcoming community that genuinely cares for students and prioritizes personal attention and academic excellence. Plus, drop-off and pick-up are so easy, a small but real bonus for families!

Thanks to great teachers and a caring and encouraging counselor (Mrs. McDonald), I was able to learn English fast, and transfer to the honors program starting 11th grade. I ended up taking AP English and Honors English 11 simultaneously in the 12th grade! I graduated taking all my A through G UC required classes, and got accepted into several UCs and Cal States. And once at UC San Diego, I was able to keep up and even graduate with honors with a major and two minors. And why did UCs want me, despite my low SAT verbal score? It was thanks to the abundance of clubs and activities that I was involved with at Reseda High. There were so many clubs at this school, you had your pick of several for each day of the week. And teachers encouraged students to join things, like a very active student cabinet, journalism, a second newsletter put out by ESL students for ESL students, a great drama program, cheer, flag, all sorts of sports teams, choir, band, 18 different clubs, volunteering opportunities such as planting trees on earth day, and more. My ESL teacher (Mrs. Worman) encouraged me and my best friend to run for office and join Student Cabinet, and I am so grateful that we did. We ended up becoming very involved with a whole lot of things, not knowing that colleges would like that, but because teacher after teacher made it feel good to be involved. And now, long after high school I have remained involved wherever I go, because I learned the value of being involved. This school was full of very caring teachers and office staff, who went out of their way to engage and teach students. The only staff members I did not like were one Spanish teacher who could not control her class (Mrs. Swanson?) and the college counselor (Mrs. Stanzberry). She stuck out, because she was not friendly and was intimidating. The rest of the teachers I had were fantastic, especially the ones in the social science department (especially Mr. Kaz and Dr. Shaffer) and the ESL department. Now, years later, I have tracked some of these teachers down via facebook and we have become facebook friends. I was shocked that they even remembered me 18 years later. They tell me that they remember most of their students. And they do! They remember distinct things about personalities of my classmates and cousins who went to the same school. (Meanwhile, for the few months that I attended Taft High school, 2 teachers didn't even take the time to properly learn my name then, and I couldn't tell you any of their names either cause they did not connect with me in any way.) The campus was beautiful, complete with its own little forest at one end, and clean. The kids were nice, and inclusive. My lunch group looked like a mini united nations, complete with two white guys and a white girl who hung out with us Persians, Rumanians, Armenian, El Salvadorians, Mexicans, and Russian! And others came and went, hanging out with different groups on different days as they pleased. Because of this, I got plenty of opportunity to practice my conversational English, and people marveled at how well I spoke English for the amount of time I had been in the US. This could be because in some schools the culture is such that different races self-segregate and recent immigrants end up together with others who are not fluent in English and fluent in a different language so they speak to each other in that language. Me? I don't speak Rumanian or Armenian or Russian or Spanish. The only way to communicate for my lunch group was English. And now the there is a magnet program on campus too, and I hear that it is wonderful. My cousins went through the magnet program and loved it. Interestingly, most of their teachers were the same as I had. And for the relatively low socioeconomic neighborhood full of recent immigrants, Reseda high and its magnet have unusually high test scores, college admissions, and scholarship recipients. I attribute it to the school culture and the attentive teachers and staff who go above and beyond to pull kids up and encourage them to explore different avenues and apply for all sorts of different opportunities.

I heard that it was a large and thriving school before the pandemic and it is now growing, but organically. But currently, the classroom size is about 6 or 8 kids in my son's class, it has room to grow. The timbre of the theory of the school is to develop the child with wonder, curiosity, desire, and the confidence to learn and create, and then they could pursue the facts to learn. In this world of technology changing everything exponentially, some educators wonder if they should drill the children with facts and figures when computers will be providing all of that. These educators seem to think that the children who will succeed in the future are those who think and create. My son likes this school. He was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and the instructors are continuously learning and growing to work with him. And the biggest thing they seem to be teaching are social skills.
