I love the fact that you can search the library's database and maintain your account online. I am one of those people who feel lost and confused walking into a library (so many choices!), so helping me narrow down what I want online is great. The library has quite a few computers available. It is also Wi-Fi ready, so you can bring your laptop and click away.

They got me set up with a visitor ID so I could log in to a terminal however I would recommend bringing your own laptop and just logging in with their wifi. The terminals are only good for 1-2 hours and if you need to be there a full day it's better to just log in on your own laptop; you'll have the same access to everything as on the terminals. Put in a good 6 hours here and got a lot of good research done. The building itself is gorgeous and spacious and fronts a lively little park next to their walkable downtown area. If you don't have a computer they do have a computer room; I didn't try that but I presume their computers are available per hour. A message to the other reviewer: if you get to the library early enough you can get one of the rooms and stay there for 2, maybe three hours. I believe you have to be a resident of Schiller Park to use the facilities or at least check out a book or video; it's OK if anyone corrects me on this. And the staff is friendly too.

There are plenty of quiet, relaxing places to sit and read or work on projects. They have a great series of programs on beading your own jewelry; several staff members work on presenting the programs. They also have a great collection of African-American fiction, and they have a collection of Spanish-language books. The Children's Room is especially pretty. The Bellwood Public Library has wi-fi; the wi-fi is best on the first floor, in front of the reference desk so a little laptop group gathers there. Public computers (8) are in the Lower Level, as are the conference rooms, the magazines and newspapers, and the mysteries. There 's a computer lab assistant on hand to help you at the public computers if you need help. The staff are very nice: they give recommendations and work hard on putting books on reserve for you so you can check them out when they're returned and on getting books in from other libraries.

They also have an incredible selection for a smaller library as well. Pretty much everything I want to check out is there and if it isn't it will be there soon. The other nice thing is since Westchester is such a small community 9 times out of 10 you don't have to wait for the hot books. Actually to me it feels like what the old Oak Park library felt like before they remodeled it and turned into the taj mahal of all libraries. LOL!. I digress. If you haven't been check it. It's quaint, small and gets the job done.
