this was our home away from home for the 4 days and 4 nights that we were in barcelona. we found this on orbitz for a fantastic price, and after reading several positive reviews on both yelp and tripadvisor, decided to book it.
these were the PROs of staying here:
+university style housing/dormitories that included guest rooms, common rooms, and cafeteria
+located in el poble-sec, a neighborhood within walking distance of many of barcelona's top attractions
+this area was far enough away from the heart of the city that it wasn't terribly noisy all the time (like las ramblas)
+a block away from the poble sec metro station, and four blocks away from the paral-lel metro and tram station
+check-in process was seamless, and our room was ready when we arrived (as expected since we arrived well past the check-in time)
+we were given two card keys which allowed us secure entry into the building after horus, the elevators, our guest room, and the community room on our floor
+the community room on our floor had a full kitchen, fridge, freezer, microwave, dining table, chairs, couch, and tv. although it was shared between the guests of several adjacent rooms, it was typically pretty empty whenever we entered.
+most of the staff spoke good english, which was helpful to us since we did not know spanish
+laundry facilities available on the ground floor
+guest room was clean and had a modern look since almost everything was white
+room included a very small desk with chair, dresser & closet built into the wall, plus additional storage space/shelves above the closet and desk
+bathroom had towels, a hair dryer, and bath gel. there was no tub, but the shower head worked well and was appreciated by a shorty like me!
+the double bed was clean and comfortable
+free wifi, password given upon check-in
+one large window in our guest room, good for fresh air, but no view
+staff on site around the clock at the desk in the lobby
and some of the CONs of staying here:
-our room was very very small and narrow (i'm thankful that my husband and i are small people)
-the double bed was actually just the right size for us, but we couldn't move around too much...i'd imagine this size would not work for average to taller visitors
-shower area was tight, and although it was acceptable for my husband and i, an average size american man (6ft tall) might not be comfortable using this shower
-no tv in our guest room
overall, i enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it as a good budget hotel to stay in while visiting barcelona. read more
