So far only three stars though she is pleasant enough. She has not helped me yet and I don't know that she will as she is not thinking outside the box but just trying to put me in one.. Still, she gave me another appointment to talk about it more so we'll see. Meanwhile, Sutter, itself, is a nightmare to deal with ; the appt people can't schedule procedures, the office does not call you or respond to messages when the doctor says , you will sometimes wait endlessly to talk to the appt people who don't know how to set up procedures. Its impossible to schedule a procedure. About 2 weeks after starting to try to schedule the appt the doctor I got a a message on my health that asks me what days of the week are good. My message had said every week is different for me so I cannot give you a day that is good every week, please tell me open appointments. So reading, getting the doctor on my health because she had not been put on my account, ( thats why I did not use it to begin with, and then when she is on, I get a message showing that they did not actually read mine. Wow. Sutter has destroyed the CPMC system. I had turned to CPMC originally because UCSF was impossible. Now Sutter is garbage. I really hope Dr Weinberg is worth the trouble of dealing with Sutter. So far, not but I will update. . I wish there were an endocrinologist that took patients who use the affordable care blue shield. I am stuck with sutter and UCSF because many doctors are so greedy they won't accept affordable care act insurance . Again, I will come back again regarding the effectiveness of Dr Weinberg, herself. read more

I saw doctor Weinberg for the first time mid-November. I was very pleased with the consultation. She prescribed infusions to treat my osteoporosis. The pros stop here. From there I only had negative experiences. She told me an assistant would contact me to set up the date for the infusion. After not hearing back for two weeks, I called the office, explaining the problem to the receptionist. Nothing happened. Early December, I went to see another doctor in the building, so I stopped to Dr Weinberg office. I was told that the person in charge was on medical leave. Later in the month, I got a email from the office, asking what date would be good for treatment; I gave the day and time. I only got a response 2 weeks later, on a very old email I happened to look at. Before treatment, I had to get blood work done but had not been informed whether I had to fast or not. I waited another 2 hours before I finally had a response. Today, I went to the lab, but the lab was unable to process the lab work because the doctor was not in the system, nor the lab order. After finally getting an appt and seeing Dr. Weinberg, I thing she's extremely competent And has a wonderful way of connecting with her patients. I felt at ease around her. Now that I've gotten in to see her, I've not had any problems with the office personnel, so I'm changing my review. read more

Awful front office and all around terrible experience. Upon receiving my lab work and a referral from my primary physician (which is required by Melissa Weinberg's office in order to book an appt) the front office still refused to book my initial appt, saying that they need more information. The kicker: They refused to tell me what additional information was needed. They said I should direct any questions to my primary physicians office. Well, my primary physicians office has NO CLUE what information is missing from their referral papework, and has been unable to reach anyone at Melissa Weinberg's office to provide more context in over 3 weeks! I myself have called about 3-5 times to try to get an office manager on the phone to explain what's going on. All I get is "someone will call you back" followed by radio silence. Sick people don't need the added stress of a poorly managed and negligent office that doesn't care about patient experience. I'm also frustrated that they required my primary physician to send my lab work upfront, and now Weinberg's office has it on record, even though I will never be a patient. Sketchy! read more

I called and scheduled an appointment as a first-time patient with Dr. Weinberg's office. I never received a follow-up, appointment reminder or any other client-service oriented courtesies that I have associated with excellent physicians offices. I have yet to meet Dr. Weinberg but I can tell you, I'm not impressed so far with her staff's lack of follow-up. I called and left a message for them to please return my call regarding rescheduling. I have yet to hear from them. I'm currently seeking another physician. FOLLOW-UP 12/21/12 So, I spoke to an INCREDIBLY RUDE STAFF MEMBER TODAY. The person's name, Maurice, needs to seriously be written up or preferably fired. When I asked Maurice why I did not receive a courtesy call for my appointment, he mentioned that their records showed that their AUTOMATED SYSTEM, not a real, live staff member, showed there was a hang-up when the AUTOMATED SYSTEM called. THIS was the reason given. Next, I was told I wouldn't be able to get an appointment for nearly 4 MONTHS. When I asked, firmly, to please find an appointment for me as I'm a brand, new patient, Maurice decided to YELL AT ME OVER THE PHONE. That's correct folks, YELL AT ME. I never even had the opportunity to become a first time patient. At this point, I have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in visiting this doctor or her rude, inept staff. I received ONE CURT CALL BACK from some woman claiming to be the office manager. Unbelievable. You can bet, I'll be telling as many people as I am able where NOT to go. Dr. Weinberg, get a clue...once again, write this person up or FIRE him BEFORE you lose another potential patient. read more

She is the best! Dr. Weinberg speaks to me like I have a brain and can process what she is saying. I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism by my primary, and went to Dr. Weinberg after the T4 supplement wasn't working after 2 weeks on it. Dr. Weinberg tested me for Hashimotos, and discussed various treatment options. With the fatigue I had been experiencing, and the fact I am an active person who likes to exercise, we decided the best course of action would be to add a T3 supplement.....this has been magic for me and I've been on it for a few years now. She has seen me through life ups and downs and has taken into account life stressors when there have been fluctuations in lab results; not quick to change medication levels for something that has been working for a while. We have had good conversations in my appointments and does a more complete workup than my primary had been doing. Unfortunately I have had to change medical groups and cannot keep seeing her at this time, and after going to my new endocrinologist, it makes me miss her treatment more! She is really a gem of a doctor and I highly recommend her to anyone with Hashimotos. She does not speak out of scope of practice (which I've experienced from other doctors) and is open to input and open discussion. read more

Dr. Weinberg is a straight shooter for sure. She's nice and personable, but you can tell that she cares about your health. I wasn't a great diabetic when I first came in, and she wasn't afraid to let me know that I had to do better. I appreciate her honesty! Also, her staff is top notch. I saw Corrie (the Physician Assistant) a few times, and she's great. Rowena, the practice assistant, is also great. read more

Today come for appointment and get information my appointment was canceled because of some secret policy they refuse to show me . Dr just change her main and forget to let me know about changes. Lost all working day try to find out why no one let me know about cancelation no answer. This is worse facility you can find in SF,people who work for this office has no respect to the customers. Biggest garbage place you can find it. Stay away from the worse place who has no respect to any one. File complain to company headquarter and wish they will fix problem with this office. read more

Dr. Weinberg is great. She really knows her stuff. I'm a nurse and am pretty picky on who I let take care of me. My thyroid does not work, due to my treatment from my Grave's disease. I started seeing her 12/13 and since then she has lowered my thyroid medication dose four times. She did it gradually and I have never felt better. I even surprisingly lost weight. I was really worried I would gain weight, but she stated when I started my appetite would decrease and she was right. I no longer have anxiety either. She really listens and works with your concerns. She is very knowledge doctor. Best one I have had in my 18 years of treatment. read more

I'm a type1 diabetic for 13+ years; meaning, I've had to do deal w/ endocrinologists basically my entire adult life. I've seen pure !@*# to good. Weinberg's in the upper tier in my views- knowledgeable, quite cognizant of the realities of managing/living with diabetes, and in general pretty decent to deal with. As for the general sutter staff (which isn't just hers), no complaints- ~15 months on, they've not dropped the ball once and have been courteous; pretty much the usual civility bit, in conjunction w/ ease of getting on a "call me if an opening pops up" waiting list when I've needed it. Additionally, if you've dealt w/ insurance idiocy where they randomly decide they won't fill your script anymore, you're aware of the game they play where you need to go get a new script w/ the *exact* wording so you can keep getting your meds. Finding an endocrinology staff that understands this game and gets it right in the first request is *Very* nice. They're nothing worse than having insurance decide to screw with you, then having your endo's staff use the wrong wording on the script (leading to having to repeat the whole cluster!@#*, all while you're humalog reserves are getting lower and lower). I'm aware of the 1 star that was leveled for her; frankly, I posted this review due to it. Endo's are a pain in the ass to get an appointment with- 2-3 months, 4 if you're trying to schedule pre holiday/vacations in the worst case. I'm sure as hell not saying I like that- it's however just been a constant fact of dealing w/ endocrinologists across 6 different cities, and a long period of time. Respectfully, expecting otherwise isn't sane in my experience. I've had a few exceptions to that rule- either it was in backwater cities w/ a low population, or the endo just plain sucked and wasn't worth the time. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Weinberg. She is smart and thorough. She's a good listener and a good communicator -- she asks a lot of questions about your overall health/family history to determine the best course of treatment. She also presents you with all the options and asks you to consider your own preferences on treatment and medication. She's clearly very knowledgeable about her field -- she reads the latest journals, is up to date on all the latest research, etc. Would recommend her without reservation. (Also, the office staff is very nice and then run on time, so you can get in and out quickly, which I always appreciate.) read more

Excellent doctor! She is thorough, very pleasant, although she doesn't always have a lot of time - she asks the right questions and more importantly she listens. Her office hours are fairly convenient and I like the fact that she will give you her recommendations but she does not push anything down your throat - when it comes to surgery, I appreciate this quality in a doctor. The only thing I don't like is often you have various people you don't know calling you when you call her or email her. That doesn't really work for me, I am an old school girl - I prefer to speak to someone who knows me (my doctor's PA) or my doctor. As far as staff, Rowena is a jewel...always a smile, always pleasant, always willing to help, and she will do her best to work with your schedule when you need an appt. read more

She simply is amazing! I have never encountered rude staff here as another person has written but Dr. Weinberg is truly special. She is so knowledgable, patient and kind that I would go to her for anything if I could. I have Grave's Disease and it got out of control about 2 years ago after being fairly controlled on medication for about 3-4 years. I am symptomatic every time my levels are abnormal; tremors, anxiety, hypertension, inability to string thoughts together and verbalize them, staring and weeping eyes continually, sleeplessness. I was a mess! After a few more failed attempts at controlling the disease medically, we tried radiation last year. Although I felt good for about 3 weeks my eye disease got really bad. My symptoms came back with a vengence too. And with more attempts to control me medically, we made the decision for a thyroidectomy. I had my surgery in January 2013. I couldn't be happier without a thyroid... the best decision ever for me! Controlling my levels from a hypothyroid state is so much easier and my symptoms are minimal. I still deal with the eye disease, as I assume, I always will. I've been told it should get better with time but if not, eye surgery is likely in my future too. Dealing with hyperthyroid patients can be very difficult. We are anxious and have difficulty retaining information because our bodies are so overstimulated all of the time... it's a very crazy-making feeling. Dr. Weinberg has always been respectful and treated me delicately in my "crazy" state. She is a doctor who doesn't just treat your labs but treats the patient.
