During a recent trip to Nottingham, I stayed at the Mercure. I'd used yelp (of course) to search…read morethe area prior to the trip and came across this place. The pictures were ok and the price was too so I decided to stay here. I was booked into one of their suites and wasn't let down at all. The room was really spacious, with a really nice, large bed, a large living area and nice en suite bathroom. Small touches like a nespresso machine and complimentary soft drinks were in the room. The room was in really good condition, very clean, light and had really nice decor. (see the pictures) The staff were also really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay here. The location in the middle of town is ideal! Great hotel, great city!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I took my…read morehusband here as a treat for his birthday along with tickets to see Guns N Roses at the Capital FM Arena. I had mentioned my husband's birthday to the staff as I asked them to have a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival, which they were more than happy to accommodate, and they also wrote him a little card along with some complimentary shortbread cakes and vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Such attention to detail and going out of their way to make our stay a good one was incredible, especially as we were only there for one night. I paid extra and went for a large executive room (shown in the photos I uploaded Room 201) at first glance it didn't look like you got a whole lot extra, but there is more space in the room, the bed is HUGE and one of the most comfortable night's sleeps I have ever had, and the shower was powerful and big enough for two ;) Despite being in the city centre, the noise level was minimal and the staff were friendly and helpful no matter what time of day, night or early morning we spoke to them! Breakfast was of good quality and had a lot of variety to choose from delicious all round. Would recommend and if I venture Nottingham way again, I will definitely be staying here!

The Blenheim House hotel and restaurant is just on the outskirts of Etwall. I've probably been to…read morethe Blenheim, virtually every week for the last six years, its a great place to go and relax, have a coffee and the let the troubles of the world melt away. Friendly staff, luxuriant surroundings and décor, also add to the experience. There are comfy sofas and leather chairs in the lounge area, or more traditional tables in the 'snug', which is where we mainly dine; whereas the more formal dining area, has that little bit of elegance for that special occasion. Having been through many incarnations since my original review, it was time for an update. The lunch/lounge menu, consists of dishes like hot and cold sandwiches, with the accompanying sides of dressed salad and the Blenheim's legendary chips, so tasty!; They also do pizzas, themed on cities around the world like Roma, Parma, New Delhi and of course, Derby! There are other dishes like burgers, hot and cold meze platters and the fish of the day. The burger was strangely underwhelming, but the Sea Bream, Salmon or Sea Bass when they are on, are definitely stand out dishes, a perfect balance of flavours. The Blenheim is on the pricey side, but the food on the whole is excellent, a great place to wile away a few hours, in comfortable surroundings.

We stopped here yesterday on one of those lovely moments when you need somewhere to eat, work and…read moredrink! What a surprise! Most times it's a case of putting up with whatever is on offer. Here, even though they were getting ready for a 200 person bash - they were friendly and accomodating, even setting a table for us despite our only wanting a bar snack. 5 stars for that! The food was ok - I have a feeling it's actually much better, but I'm letting them off because they were obviously very busy! We were also able to finish our work in the bar; we weren't rushed and didn't feel pressured to go; even the tables being carried past us! xx
