I have been going here for about 6 years so I have seen a few doctors at this practice. I prefer to stick with one when possible but sometimes schedules and urgent issues don't allow that. The doctors (Dr Oh, Dr Khoo, Dr Civitico) I have seen are all very good. They provide thoroughness and consistency that you just don't get at the big commercial chain practices. They do charge above the Medicare fee and ask you to pay the entire fee up front but they do forward the details to Medicare on your behalf for reimbursement directly from medicare for the standard amount. They have an onsite collection centre for HealthScope pathology so you can one stop shop if needed.

On reflection though, I found that it's possible to think about your experiences in that place to date and realise you have very little to fault. I see two doctors at this clinic - Dr Trish Civitico and Dr Graeme Edwards. Both are great! Whilst Collins Place does bulk bill, a regular appointment will still need you to pay a certain amount over and above that. After your Medicare rebate, it works out to be about $15. They do however bulk bill vaccinations and the full cost is covered. I started going to CPMC when I worked across the road... and whilst I no longer work there, I still make the trip into the city because the experience here is consistently great... and when you're sick, you want consistency and predictability, right?

I decided to check out the Port Melbourne Medical centre after passing the newish looking building. They have a number of female doctors there (more so than male doctors actually), which makes it a great option for women. They all seem to work on alternative days, so you might not see the same one every time if you have an appointment that can't wait. I initially saw Dr. Rebecca, who was absolutely lovely. Her relaxed nature made me feel immediately comfortable chatting with her and she was straight forward without being at all rude or abrupt as I have experienced at other clinics. I've also seen Dr Sarah Lewis who has become my regular doctor and she's been wonderful - helpful and compassionate. The clinic itself is new and bright. It doesn't feel dingy and depressing. They offer pathology services for the first half of each day, which is handy to not have to go to another location if you need a blood test for any reason. Hoping not to make a habit of going, but it's always nice to know they're there!

The reception staff have always been nothing short of delightful, efficient and friendly. I like that you can see a GP, or see someone who specialises in more nutrition / health based solutions or "wellness" as they call it. The GPs costs are about normal for a GP for my experience and you can get in straight away, and for a specialised "wellness" GP session, it costs more and there is a few weeks wait when I tried to get an appointment for this service. I read a few books and diet based approaches to neurological problems and it is fantastic to have a GP who is educated in these 'natural based' preventions that I can talk to about this.

I had fever this week and called for a tele call with Dr Mark who called me in the afternoon. I was then asked to come to clinic so they can prescribed an antibiotic. He was aware on the phone that I had fever. I was given appointment to see face to face with Dr Victoria around 4pm. I reached the medical centre on time and waited till 4.30pm while I was sick only been told by receptionist that Dr Victoria can't see me unless I get a covid test. I didnt have an issue with Covid test but was amazed because they wasted my whole day in dancing around. I was feeling so weak and helpless that I had to ask a friend to pick me up. The reception showed no sympathy when I kept on asking as how can I lower my fever. Dr victoria Nguy who basically walked away didnt have a courtesy to even say take Ibuprofen or Panadol. Luckily same evening I was taken to emergency hospital and then had my covid test done which came out to be negative and also got antibiotics. I am perfectly ok now after 2 days. I would not recommend anyone to book appointment with Dr Victoria Nguy. This clinic is badly managed and need to show some sympathy to patients. They asked me to come to clinic and then simply ignored and told me to get a covid test. Completely wasted a day for me and I had to spend 3 hours of wait on emergency department at Royal Health(parkville). Beware of booking with them. First of all tell your patients upfront to get covid test if you know they have fever. Second dont ask them to visit clinic only to be told to have covid test. Third show a bit of sympathy and not ignored as untouchables. People will never forget how they got treated.
