My Experience Revealed Serious Red Flags in the Procedure and the Follow-Up Care! A simple cyst…read moreremoval turned into a painful, poorly handled procedure with lost lab results, an open wound, and a permanent scar. I would not recommend this office to ANYONE! I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel people deserve a clear warning about my experience at this office. On October 27th, I had a small cyst removed from the top of my head. During the consultation, the doctor told me the cyst was unlikely to be serious and that the surgery was up to me. He was friendly, but not thorough about explaining what the procedure would actually involve. Based on what I knew, I expected a simple linear incision with the cyst removed. That is not what happened. Once the anesthesia was given, the doctor made a circular incision, removed an actual piece of my scalp, and cauterized the area. None of this was explained beforehand. When he cauterized the area, he burned the surrounding scalp as well, damaging the hair follicles. When I removed the bandages, there was a ton of burnt hair stuck to them, and I doubt the hair will ever grow back. He stapled it shut, left the room immediately, and that was the last I saw of him. The nurse gave me topical antibiotic ointment and sent me on my way. This is where the issues really started. I was told to take over-the-counter pain meds, but they did nothing. My scalp felt like it was on fire from the staples pulling constantly. I couldn't sleep for almost a week. The wound bled, oozed, and continued to pull on the staples with every movement I made. I called the office during that week since there was no checkup on me until the staple removal appointment. I told them my wound continued to discharge, bleed, and was so painful I couldn't lay my head on a pillow. All they did was call in antibiotics--no follow-up, no instructions, no concern. Fast forward to November 18th, the day the staples were removed. I went in hoping this nightmare was finally over. Instead, the nurse looked alarmed and said, "I need to get a doctor. The staples didn't work closing the wound, and your wound is totally open and looks infected." Another doctor came in, looked at my head for a few minutes, ordered a culture, and told me results would be in within a week. They never came. I was told to continue antibiotics even though they were running out. I was then told I would have to leave the wound open to heal from the inside, and the nurse joked, "You're going to have a good scar." After seeing it myself, "good scar" was an understatement. The scar I'm going to have is severe, and I do not feel a second thought was given to how it would look. Considering this is on the top of my head, aesthetics should have been a high priority--not an afterthought. I had no idea how bad it was until I got home and checked the mirror. I called again on November 25th for the pathologist report to see if my wound was infected. Still NOOO results, even though I was told they would be in. Then on December 2nd, I received a call informing me that the office had LOST my lab results entirely. They did not discover this until that day. I was told they were sorry, but luckily I had gone for a second opinion--otherwise I could have been walking around with a serious untreated infection that might have required additional surgical procedures. I have never in my life experienced a surgery where things were handled this poorly. At this point, I am still dealing with an open wound on my head, a patch of missing hair, and a scar that I will have for life. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE considering the way I was treated. The only thing I can do now is leave this review to warn others and never return to this subpar establishment

I never feel rushed. His experience and expertise were the first thing I noticed when I met him yet he is very down to earth. It's easy to schedule appointments on line. The office people are friendly and professional which I truly appreciate. As a patient with extremely sensitive skin and a few allergies, he always provides me with excellent care. I highly recommend Dr. Armstrong to all my family and friends. Oh, he also offers the best facial peel I have ever had. The results are amazing!!!

"Yes, you can see the doctor sometime next year," was the receptionists response when I called to make an appointment this morning--and yes I'm an existing patient. THE UGLY: Armstrong Dermatology has a green staff of nurses and assistants that can help you. *insert eye-roll here* Call me old fashioned, but when I need to see the doctor, I'd like him to be an MD, and if his name is on the door, that should be the one I'm making the appointment with. Don't waste your time here. Go someplace else where the doctor will make the time to see you.

They take time to listen to our concerns. A rare find in the medical arena! I am a native Floridian and grew up on the beach before sunscreen was cool. Laura Millns helped me develop a plan of treatment for addressing several pre cancer areas particularly on my face and neck. I am very satisfied with the Levulan and Blue Light treatment. It resolved beginning problems and identified advanced pre cancer areas that I followed up with more aggressive meds. Try the ZO Sunscreen and Primer with only titanium dioxide. My skin likes it and it blends well with other make up. Adults now, Laura has been both an educator and a trusted confidant as our teens progressed through the difficult acne years. I recommend parents consider this office specifically because they are comfortable explaining how the skin works and creating a personalized plan with the family, and helping the teen be more responsible with their own care.
