It is open on Sundays!…read more There, now that we have that out of the way...I visited this San Francisco Coffee Company on a bright, sunny Sunday afternoon. Whilst just about everything else in Munich is closed Sundays, this is very open and many winter-fuffled folks were lazing about reading their papers, drinking espresso, warming up from the cold. My Munich guide, Robin W, tells me that this company is actually based in Munich. So while it would seem it is an American outpost, indeed it is not. It is tailored to Germans, but does resemble heavily a Starbucks or something of the like. Fairly corporate in nature. Many tables and chairs as well for working, sitting, or chatting. There was only one girl working, and the line did get long at times. It is not the fastest service because of this, but she did a good job hustling and trying to make everyone happy. Some odd things... *The "happy holidays" mugs still on display at full price. Do they not do clearance in Germany to rid the stores of outdated merchandise? This seemed strange. *I bought a travel mug (I was desperate for a larger mug at my apartment) and it was $11.50 euro. I then wanted the tea in it and she charged me for a large, even though really...it is just hot water and one tea bag, plus I have my own cup. It just seemed strange to me, as it is basically $3euro for a bunch of hot water. A good place to warm up. The double espresso machiatto was quite good as well. *very convenient to the Sbahn Laim stop.

AMBIANCE ========= Small mom and pop (owned and run by Italian family) gelato place, offering flavors such as Snickers, Coffee, and Raspberry. No place to eat directly outside. Go across the street for several benches. ORDERED ========= CHOCOLATE Their best flavor. Perfect. RATING: 5/5 COFFEE-MOCHA Great balance of chocolate and coffee. RATING: 4/5 SNICKERS Surprisingly not too sweet. Good caramel, nuts, and a swirl of dark chocolate was good, but not great overall. The vanilla need more pow. RATING: 3/5 COOKIES It was a different type of cookie taste. Don't expect American cookie. No pow. RATING: 3/5 PRICE: 1 euro per scoop Texture was creamy and not too sweet. I prefer it richer. Lovely service. They packaged our gelato cups to-go. Rumor has it that they will move down the street in the new building for more space and possible outside seating.
