The beach at Meia Praia is nothing short of superb. It is mostly golden sand, with patches of shells. The sea is an awesome colour of blue/green and as clear as could be.
Located between Alvor and Portimão, it stretches for further than I would care to walk!
It's family friendly, has occasional beach bars and restaurants and in season, has sun beds and umbrellas for hire.
The eastern end, towards Alvor, is clothing optional with a number of naturists on my last few visits. Unlike some naturist beaches, I saw nothing untoward. It seems very safe.
While close to Alvor, there is no direct access as they are split by the entrance to the bay, accessing the Ribeira de Odiaxere and the Rio Alvor. It's roughly 30 mins by car from Alvor, over the bridge on the N125. Well worth the trip though! read more
