Megabus is a disingenuous company gauging customers by not applying refunds to booking fees so that even if you but a cheaper tickets you're still paying money. Their customer service line is no help either. I would never buy tickets from them if greyhound was running, and they should thank covid that they're in business. read more

This was my first mega bus ride. It was awesome!! Classey, the driver, was great. She was very professional and friendly. She got us there on time even though there was a detour. I thanked her for getting me to Dallas and wished her a safe trip back. Mega bus is the way to travel. You have your own socket to plug up your electronics. You also get to control your own air vent. It was a very good experience. I will be traveling on mega bus very soon! read more

Megabus is so much better than greyhound. No trashy terminal with bums and thieves.....this is a small building with a helpful security guard. The buses are cheaper, more clean, more comfortable all the way around. I love to sit on the upper deck and enjoy the view. The people who ride megabus are generally not as trashy as the greyhound riders. read more

I rode the Megabus that departed from Dallas to Houston yesterday, Sunday, February 23rd, at 2:50pm. Roughly ten minutes before boarding the bus, a Megabus luggage-handler named Alvin, who refused to give us his last name, approached my mother and I and told us that I would not be allowed to bring food aboard the bus. I had a cooler with food inside. We asked him why we could not bring food aboard the bus, as I had ridden the Megabus before with food on me, and had seen plenty of other passengers with food as well. He simply would not give us a straight answer, and told us that we were not allowed to bring food aboard the bus. I had already checked the Megabus terms and conditions before this, and knew that the terms and conditions stated "15. Customers are allowed to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages on board." Alvin had absolutely no ground to refuse to let us board just because we had food, yet he insisted that he was right, in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. I cannot help but feel extremely discriminated against in this scenario of events. I simply wanted to board the Megabus, which I have done before in the past, with food that my mother painstakingly made for me so that I could take it back home to Houston. I had already read the Terms and Conditions before boarding the Megabus, knowing that I was allowed to bring food aboard. Instead, I was met with an extremely rude, hostile, and unreasonable Megabus worker who did not respect the official rules by Megabus and who treated me unequally and unfairly compared to other passengers. Is this the kind of service I am supposed to expect from Megabus? Are these the kinds of employees Megabus stands by? And is this the kind of disgust I am supposed to be left with after simply trying to bring some food aboard a bus to travel from Dallas to Houston? I have never been treated so poorly by any travel service, whether it be via air or ground, and I hesitate to ever use Megabus services again. The experience has left me with a sickening taste in my mouth. I can safely say that I will not recommend boarding the Megabus to any of my friends or acquaintances, ever. read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews but.. Terrible service every time. How are you still in busines?. Last string was right now.. My girlfriend has been on the bus for 8 hours for a trip from San Antonio to Dallas and is still not here! Apparently one driver had too many hours so they had to pull over and wait for another driver to come? Please pretend to give a crap Megabus, you could be doing great but you're just pissing everyone off with terrible service. Go greyhound or walk read more

I often have to get a Houston-Dallas ticket, and every time there are so many problems. There's never any wifi, despite it being advertised on the website and the bus itself. That leaves me with pretty much nothing to do for the 5 hour trip. I've tried all 3 types of seats (normal, table, and reserved). The seats aren't very comfortable, they're too narrow, and the table seats are awkward and the tables do nothing. They have no texture so everything slides around, they're about a foot wide, and the cup holders are so ridiculously small that even a normal sized water bottle is too big (and even if it wasn't, there's no bottom so it would just fall through. read more

I am always willing to give companies a chance, and the benefit of the doubt. I understand that any company may have some lackluster employees, but when every employee I encounter is poor, there is a fundamental problem with the service. I took a trip, my first and likely last. I have honestly never had a worse bus experience. As this is my first Megabus experience, I wanted to give them the opportunity to make it right before I cemented my opinion of the service and company, as I do realize sometimes one experience is not representative of a whole company. I booked my bus online, and showed up on time to find the bus was delayed by a little over an hour. I understand delays happen, and the 7:25pm bus eventually showed up about 8:35pm. When the bus showed up, we stood outside for about 30 minutes with little to no communication why other than they were waiting to board us. I now know that they were apparently deliberating some incident (accident? still unsure as they never told us) that occurred, but nobody told us. We were eventually boarded, the bus began to pull out, stopped in the road for a few minutes (literally blocking the entire street), then backed back in. We sat for another 30 minutes with NO word on what was going on before being updated. They decided at this point they needed to wait for the authorities, which took another 30 minutes or so. By the time we eventually got moving, it was about 10:10pm, nearly 3 hours after the scheduled departure, meaning I got to my destination well after all of the other local city buses stopped working (sometime around 1:30am), and I was required to get a Taxi ($$$) to my final destination. On top of it, the bathroom on the bus was filthy, and basically unusable. This was the worst experience I have ever had on a bus hands down, and honestly, the lack of communication about the delays is inexcusable. I then took the time to contact their customer service, telling them of the experience. Their response was basically worthless. With service this bad, you should offer a refund. At least the refund would help cover the additional costs I incurred due to their incompetence. After a brief exchange it was clear the customer service was also of no help. Seriously, avoid this company at all cost, because a company's true quality comes out when circumstances are less than optimal, and this company is severely lacking. read more

If I could give MEGABUS 0 stars I would. Extremely cheap and will not let you get a refund or change your ticket if your drivers leave early! Customer service is extremely poor. Will not be around much longer if they do not change things! MEGABUS, HA! More like NEGA-BUS!!!!! read more

I took Megabus from Austin to Dallas recently as I needed a cheap way to travel for the weekend. What you get: a low-cost, clean bus with reasonably comfortable seating, direct non-stop service. What you dont get: parking at the pickup/dropoff point. Any shelter at the waiting area. Advertised wi-fi is spotty at best. Some buses are not equipped with wi-fi or the advertised electrical outlets at all. I also found out they do not account for the horrific I-35 traffic when calculating their travel times. I was an hour late both coming and going. So... if you need a cheap way to travel, want to avoid the hassle of driving, and have time to spare, Megabus is a reasonable option. If you're looking for any creature comforts or have to arrive on a schedule, then it isn't your best bet. read more

So I've been riding Megabus for ages! I love the prices, the buses and the drivers. However, the staff at the terminal in Downtown Dallas are always so very rude. Especially the males, the females tend to be more accommodating. I'm always pissed for ten minutes after I board because dealing with those guys is like being in high school again. Thanks for the service megabus but I'd consider a more polite male staff. read more

I booked a reserved seat for extra $$. Found the reserved but it was taken by someone else. Told the driver, he said they no longer offer reserved seat, if that's the case, why have the option on your website? Ask for refund from megasbus, they told me no! I won't use them anymore. read more

I travelled many times with Megabus. They are very punctual and they are fast to lead you to your destination. What I did not like is that if you have more than one suitcase, for example if you have two suitcases you will have to pay 30 dollars for the second suitcase as if there was a second passenger with you! Second, I did not like the restroom inside the bus because there is no flush. Everybody just goes to the restrooms and you have to bear a very bad smell all the road through men! The Megabus is a good solution but they have to build their bus restrooms a little bit differently. I was afraid of getting sick. There was no antibacterial liquid nor water to wash your hands in the restrooms so they really have to change that and they really have to be more precise on their website about how many suitcases we are allowed to bring. read more

Recommend by my college peers, I decided to try out Megabus. To say this was a refreshing positive experience in comparison to GrayHound is an understatement. Not once did I feel uncomfortable. The bus is spacious, and clean. Free WORKING wifi, and electric outlets by every seat. The bus station was clean, next to a overnight parking lot, and very well lit. Round trip from Dallas to San Antonio cost me $16 tax included. You do have to make your reservation online, however you don't have to print anything. Just remember to save your reservation number. read more

Mark Santos, rudest driver. Has the need to feel power and control over others, probably hates his job, and seriously needs to be fired. I came from Austin to Dallas for the first time three days ago, had an excellent time, the driver was so pleasant, I wish I got his name. On the way back to Austin, 6:20 am in the morning, I check in and get on the bus, and as I am going up the stairs I hear someone screaming in the back, and I just thought "what's happening?" Then he comes after me screaming that I have to put my second bag in the storage, and I stayed calm, I thought if I was calm he would calm down, and I said oh I wasn't told to do so in Austin, I put it under the seat along with the other bag. That made him furious, so he repeated what he said and I asked again calmly if I can show him how the fit, he went around came from the front and was ready to take me out of the bus, and the whole time I was perplexed why he's so angry, I'm just asking for clarification and showing him that my stuff fits. Anyway, I thought I should just avoid him, so I went talked to the guy I checked in with, and he wasn't much help, but was really nice. I got the driver's name and I really hope something is done about him. He just sucks. So rude in the early morning, didn't offer to explain calmly, and didn't try to clear the confusion as I was able to one my first ride. All in all the megabus is great, but I'm giving a two star for an a-hole of a driver at 6 am... Who does that? Have your coffee. I do hate the fact that you can't exchange tickets, just buy new ones. No refunds, no exchanges. Clean bus, no weirdos. On time. All great (Excuse any typos or grammatical errors, not proof reading.) read more

The trade in policy is not clear! If you want to trade (1) ticket for multiple tickets, you have to put ALL the trips you want in your "basket" before continuing. If you don't, you will lose all the left over credit owed to you. Even if you have an account, the credit will not be saved to use later. Oh, and I should add, they didn't even use my credit to cover the change fee. Therefore, they received even more money from me! read more

DONT TAKE MEGA BUS！The bus had delayed for TWO HOURS! And when the bus arrived the station, then they just told us a truck hit the bus, we gotta to wait until the police comes and writes the report. I don't know how much longer I should wait for this. I just don't understand why a nationwide passenger transport company doesn't have several backup buses for some special situations like now. Just let their customers wait, wait, and wait. Never take it again. read more

Everything was fine in the bus except th chilling AC, but the organization was horrible. We were stuck for over 20 minutes because the bus in front of us was loading. No one could get off. read more

Pretty good price for what they offer. Quick trip to Houston on the cheap!

I rode this on a Friday evening to austin. Approximately a 3 hr drive and we left at 5. I was concerned with hitting bad traffic, but surprisingly we left and arrived in Austin right on time! It wasn't a bad ride at all, especially for $25. The seats aren't very comfortable, and they are small, and WiFi never works so don't count on a it, but there are phone chargers, and you can bring your own food/water. I didn't use the bathroom, and there were no stops. Direct ride. I would use it again. read more

My experience was good. The bus was clean and on time. Please take a blanket, it's very cold. The WiFi worked as well as the plugs to charge your cell phones. I wish there was a better place for pick up in downtown Houston, its not clean and it smells. The workers are not very pleasant but hey for 58.00 round trip from Houston to Dallas was a steal. read more

This experience is a total cluster fuck. Everyone in the top level sweating their ass off I had to take my t short off as soon as I got from Dallas to Houston June 6, at 2:50 Pm. It must have been 85 degrees before the driver finally turned down the air and was rude about it. He only turned down the air slightly and it was miserable the entire way. Then the idiot parked on the shoulder on Hwy 75 near Fairfield to climb upstairs to complain about somebody on the phone. This was very dangerous !!!!!!! The driver had a "don't bother me" shitty attitude. .NEVER AGAIN. THIS IS TRULY FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE AND WE FELT LIKE CATTLE!!!!!!!! read more

Last Friday I booked a mega bus trip from Austin to Dallas. I was there in plenty of time to board the 3:20pm bus when an exasperated employee announced to the line of bus travelers that the bus was going to be 2 hours late. When 5:30 rolled around the same employee announced that the inbound bus was delayed in San Antonia and to expect a 7:30 pm arrival. You guessed it, when 7:30 came and went the mega bus employee said the bus broke down and a different bus MAY be in Austin by 10:30pm. With that news, I along with 3 strangers took a Lyft ride from Austin to Dallas for $200. For all I know those other 80 people are still waiting for their MegaBus. What dismal service! If you value your time MegaBus shouldn't be considered a viable transportation option. read more

I should update my original review by mentioning that Megabus completely refunded my trip.

2.5 Seats are short so not very good leg support. Sliding out of seat made of slippery vinyl. Felt every single bump in the road and I was on the upper level in seat 15. My body left contact with the seat a couple of times when going over bumps. The seat vibrates too! Because there is so much movement you will get car sick if you are reading a book or concentrating on the screen of your computer/tablet/phone. The seats aren't very wide either so if you are a big person it's as bad as small airplane seats. The seats are hard too so you might get hemorrhoids if your trip is long. Can't get comfortable to sleep on my red eye from Dallas to Houston. The middle back support is pushed out too far, which makes it very very uncomfortable when you recline the seat. You may need a chiropractor after sitting in these seats. No overhead storage so every thing must fit under your seat. If your bag can't fit under your seat they must check it before boarding. As another reviewer said, I had to check in, only one person managing the check in, he leads you out to the bus, but it is not organized so someone could have just got on the bus without paying. Beggers can't be choosers, I had to make last minute arrangements to go to my cousins home going service. It cost too much to change my flight, rental car wasn't a bad choice but then I'd have to drive and have to deal with the rental car place. So the good thing is it is relatively cheap in comparison to my other options, but I would never choose this bus again, because of the ridiculously uncomfortable seats and the bumpyness of the ride. read more

Extremely rude service, especially from the loaders and ticket holders. Seats are small and uncomfortable. Busses rarely arrive and leave on time. Drivers are particularly slow, will often take the wrong routes. Would not recommend. read more

BEWARE-MEGABUS HAS NO AC. Ready yourself for a MISERABLE 5 hour from DFW to Austin to San Antonio. Actually, between the traffic and stops in Austin and Belton it is a 6-6.5 hour ride. Completely unreasonable in the TX climate. It was a scorching 102 outside and zero shade at both the Austin & San Antonio pickup areas. Please enjoy standing in the TX sun. Or rain. Yes, waiting for your ride is done outside. "Barbie sized" AC vent is above the seat are ridiculous. The bus' overall is unit is throughly inefficient. To further a riders discomfort, the front door of the bus stays open while loading a 20 minute process. Perhaps it is a regulation? As a result, what little breeze is on the bus, blows through the opened door. A glass roof / skylight on the second level (did you know heat rises?) is a searing reminder of just how hot the ride will be. There are no window shades, except in the 4 seats at the front of the windshield view. Clearly, riders have complained before as once we boarded the driver comes over the PA informing us the "driver has no control over AC." He says this is controlled by MEGABUS NJ." Of course, when we contacted MEGABUS (while boarded) New Jersey, they denied this. Unpleasant driver. Likely because he has been battered fried from early drive. The delayed departure., a result of inconsiderate riders who are permitted to inconvenience All Other seated riders only adds to the dreadful and memorable MEGABUS experience. You get what you pay for; which is!nothing if not horrible "Next time, Go Greyhound..." Please! read more

Have to bomb them. Completely obsurd the way my situation went down. Got there 30 minutes before the departure time and waited about 45 minutes before a megabus arrived. That doesnt bother me. What bothers me is that i spent 22 dollars on the ticket and seat reservation and when the bus that i later was told was mine pulled up and said houston-katy-austin. I politely asked the driver if the bus was heading to austin just to be sure that the sign was not incorrect and she said yes. Being that my destination was San Antonio, I of course did not bring my luggage over and try to board. Who would in my shoes after asking the driver and confirming a destination that was not mine. Waited another 30 minutes in the cold and then called customer support to see what was going on. They told me that the bus had already departed. I was there the whole time and watched three busses come through. None of which were going to san antonio. All they had to say was "im sorry you missed yur bus sir, you will need to buy another ticket." Obviously im not happy. That was a spectacular waste of time and money. read more

If you ride the Megabus hope that it doesn't have any problems or break down. I was riding from Dallas to Houston when the bus blew a tire about an hour outside of Dallas. It took them around 4 hours to get a replacement bus out to us. 4 HOURS, when we were only 1 hour out of Dallas. Then they made us take a rest stop after an hour of driving. It took me almost 10 hours to get to Houston, when its a 4 hour trip. The bus driver was not helpful and incredibly sarcastic and rude when asked questions, and didn't seem to care about the inconvenience that was being caused. All around-terrible service and customer service. I will NOT be riding Megabus ever again. read more

Worst Customer service I have ever received. When I called to inquire about changing or canceling a ticket, and the customer service agent hung up on me! When I asked to speak to a supervisor. BEWARE!!! When my friend and DALLAS native found out I was taking MEGABUS DALLAS to SAN ANTONIO he warned me that the Dallas MEGABUS always breaks down. This is a first and last experience with MEGABUS. They were recommended by my BFF who takes the Los Angeles to Las Vegas route for work and enjoys the clean, convenient & comfy buses. So I bought 2 1 way tickets for my son and I to travel from Dallas to San Antonio. The DALLAS to SA bus was dusty , old and faulty. We broke down on the side of I-35 South, walked through weeds with several senior citizens to get to another MEGABUS that happened to be passing by. This 2nd bus we transferred to headed to Austin fit the description of the MEGABUS LA to Vegas that my friend raves about. It was clean and comfy. We were dropped at the Austin MEGABUS station and told to wait until our broken down bus is fixed. After waiting in 92 degree weather for aporox 3 hours with no update on travel status, I get a text notification from MEGABUS that a bus will arrive in approx 1 hour to continue trip to San Antonio. Taking a chance on the faulty MEGABUS was too risky and I was concerned for me and my Sons safety so we UBERed to a Rental Car Company and drove a rental to San Antonio. Our safety was jeopardized, lives put at risk and unexpected costs incurred. It appears the safe and clean MEGABUS is only used for select routes. read more

This is my first experience with Megabus Dallas/Houston/Dallas and I am an extremely satisfied customer. I was picked up at the Dart East Transit Center downtown right on time with a smooth boarding procedure by the attendant and driver. The bus was on time and left exactly at the departure time - so don't be late or you will miss the bus. The bus is air-conditioned (it is cold so I suggest you bring a light jacket or small blanket), has wi-fi and plug outlets for your electronics. The seats are very comfortable and they do have seat belts if you would like to use them. The bathroom was also clean. The drivers were excellent and courteous. Also, if you have a reserved seat and someone is sitting in your seat ask the driver (if necessary) to assist you in asking the person to move elsewhere. There was absolutely no problem with this on my two trips. When I arrived at my destination you stay on the bus until the luggage is off-loaded - then they open the door for you to depart the bus. My arrival/departure in Houston was very smooth and carried out by the attendant and driver very nicely. I suggest you bring food, drink, earphones or earplugs - because you might sit next to someone who likes to talk on their cell phone for the entire trip. I will absolutely use the Megabus for my future travel. read more
