I've had the pleasure of going on three guided waterfowl hunts with Andrew, and I give him my…read morehighest recommendation. His passion for waterfowl hunting is extremely apparent and his expertise in the sport follows suit. Andrew puts an incredible amount of pride and hard work into giving you the most successful hunt possible. Everything is meticulously thought out from safety to equipment to hunting setup. He explained to me how scouting, weather, wind direction, timing and more go into deciding where to hunt for the day. When shooting time hits, the guy can flat out hunt. When birds start invading friendly air space, he is unreal at getting them to decoy. In our first hunt, he called in a group of 20-30 ducks at one point. Purely awesome. The three hunts I've been on have truly been top notch. If you want to shoot at a lot of ducks, while enjoying 5-star accommodations and chef prepared meals, and not have to worry about anything but showing up to shoot, I would highly recommend Jelk's Bayou Hunting Lodge.

The lodge is a wonderful home…read morewhile you are here and the guides do a great job of getting everything for the hunting side up and running. On the lodge -- it really is a comfortable place to relax, unwind, and have a great time. There is a fire pit outside to warm the night with great conversation and more than enough room inside to take in some TV, eat, or otherwise entertain yourself. The only down side is that you need to bring your own when it comes to everything outside of a rental gun and white hoodies for snow geese -- and I mean everything. For the seasoned person this might not be a second thought but for a casual experience this can be a real trick. A private chef hire for cooking for a reasonably sized group could make (or break) the entire experience for a group. Though all of the logistics were outside of my space I really don't know where all of this magic (or lack there of) comes from. The bottom line was there were basically two large groups taking up the place when I was there. Theirs was firing on all cylinders back at the lodge and ours sucked. The larger problem, when you are not prepared right, is that the area is thin on everything and there are laws relating to the sale (as in it being illegal) of liquor on the weekends. To make matters worse the speed limits change quickly and the local enforcement cracks down on anyone not from the area. With all of the above, yes, I am still a fan. However, you need to be well prepared and understand the logistics of the area to have a truly great time.

He not…read moreonly fit us in last minute, but guided us himself, cooked us steaks when we arrived after 10pm and then help d us limit out on birds by 8am. The lodge is immaculate, rooms, beds and bathrooms are very comfortable, clean and private. We will be back!!

This place has amazing foods and great comradery to go along with some of the best duck hunting in…read morethe world. Me and all of my buddies limited out every day. Not to mention how nice the people are there, and the dogs are great to. I go on lots of trips but this one is the highlight of my hunting. I am definitely coming back next year!
