As a parent, I honestly felt we had started the college application process too late. We first began working with Mr. Park during the summer before senior year, and I was worried there would not be enough time to really help my son. But after meeting him, my thinking completely changed. From the beginning, Mr. Park was very clear, organized, and realistic with us. He did not just give general advice like many other counselors. He took time to understand my son's strengths, personality, and goals, and gave guidance based specifically on him. That made a very big difference for us. He helped a lot with essays and personal statements. Many times he pushed my son to think deeper and explain his experiences better, and I could see the improvement over time. His feedback was very detailed and personal, not advice that I could find online. What I appreciated most was that he was honest and straightforward while still being very supportive. The college process can be stressful for both students and parents, but Mr. Park helped make everything feel much more manageable. My son also became more confident, organized, and mature during this process. I truly feel Mr. Park cares about his students and wants them to succeed long term, not only for college admissions. I would highly recommend him to any family looking for genuine and personalized college counseling support. read more

I write this recommendation as a reflection of the process we went through with Mr. Park. We weren't sure what to do or what we were looking for when we searched for a counselor. We searched and met with a few counselors before deciding to go with Mr. Park. It is one of the best things we did for our child and for ourselves. Mr. Park helped our child navigate through his entire high school and the college application process. Mr. Park continues to mentor him even after our son graduated high school and left for college. Mr. Park's guidance is very direct and genuine in the student's best interest. You can see he guides each of his students differently based on their capabilities and their aspirations. He is very honest with them if they are going down the wrong path and guides them back onto the right track in order to maximize their potentials. He can be critical at times, but as we reflected back, it was in the best interest of the student. He took the pressure off the parents. More times than not, parents worry more than we should and it can have an opposite effect despite us thinking its our good intentions. I strongly recommend him as a coach and guidance counselor for any students who really want to strive to get into the best universities in the country. He help guided our child into the top 10 colleges in the country. At the end when reflecting back....Mr. Park's impact was beyond just a high school planning and college application process, but he instilled some life perspectives that are very important for long term success. We have a second child that is a bit younger, but we do plan to have Mr. Park guide the younger one too! read more

Mr. Park is an outstanding college counselor. Through his guidance over the past two years, my child not only got into her dream colleges but she also learned many life skills from him. Mr. Park has in-depth knowledge of the admission process. His understanding of application requirements, deadlines, and institutional preferences has helped my child to have a clear idea of what she needed to do. He stays informed about the latest admission trends, and his advice is relevant and up to date with the priorities of each college and their selection criteria. The organizational skills of Mr. Park are exceptional. He tracks my child's progress, application requirements, important dates of tests and submission deadlines very carefully, making sure nothing is overlooked. His well-structured documentation system consists of clear timelines and checklists which make it easy to follow and help my child to stay on top of the tasks. He also frequently guides my child on the organization skill which is very useful in life. Mr. Park consistently met with my child to ensure all the tasks were on track and discuss upcoming requirements. He had coached my child on the SAT before Junior year started, so she could later be more focused on her school work and applications. After spending a month working with Mr. Park intensely on the areas the she needed to improve, she scored very well and was satisfied with her performance. For college applications, Mr. Park always set the deadlines early to make sure there was enough time for review and revision in order to submit the best quality of materials on time. This skill let my child navigate this complex process smoothly and reduced last-minute stress. Mr. Park is honest and direct on feedback and what needs to be done. At the same time, he is also very encouraging, providing a positive outlook and always made my child feel his confidence in her. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a structured yet supportive college counselor. read more

Mr. Park is nothing short of the best college counselor. Not only is he a great teacher, but he also implements the right mindset and work ethic in his students. As a junior in high school, I first went to Mr. Park to seek help improving my SAT score. With his help, I scored in the 99th percentile. After realizing the authentic and captivating way of teaching that allowed me to achieve a good score, I further sought his help for college admissions. His unwavering support and guidance with the college application process - from research to essays - were outstanding and I was accepted to multiple T20 colleges. What is remarkably effective about Mr. Park's teachings is that they have been essential in college as well as for a future career. He has prepared me well for medical school and beyond. For any student seeking top college acceptances as well as improving themselves as human beings, Mr. Park is the person you should see. read more

Mr. Michael Park is one of the best college counselors out there, and he has a very genuine way of teaching that engaged me in his own, self-made workbooks. You will learn the most advanced grammar techniques and there are actual lessons, and I have never met a teacher who has so much grammar knowledge. Mr. Park's repertoire of language skills is something irreplicable, and there will be so many rules you will not simply find online. Mr. Park does not only help prep you for the SAT but also helps you on SAT Subject Tests and college applications. read more

I would definitely recommend Mr. Park as a teacher and as a mentor. Mr. Park has been my mentor since high school and I am grateful to have his support throughout my journey to my dream- getting into a medical school. With his guidance, I was able to grow and mature quickly into a student ready for medical school from a high school student speaks little English. Throughout my years in college, I continuously seek advice from Mr.Park and he was always happy to have a talk and encouraged me to go further. The skills and mindset I learned from Mr. Park has helped me beyond SAT-- they are crucial for my excellence in graduated level standardized tests such as MCAT and GRE; as well as general writing in academic and professional settings. In addition to academic excellence, Mr. Park also prepared me well in demonstrating my strength to admission committees through essays, interviewing, letters of intent, researching, etc. To anyone who has a dream to pursue, tis the right place to prepare yourself for it. read more

I highly recommend this place to anybody who needs an SAT score boost or college app help. Before coming here I looked into Flex, Ivymax, the Princeton Review, HS2, and JQ, and after asking around I found out that none of them fulfilled what they advertised. Many of my friends who took their classes told me their scores went up very slightly or not at all, and whatever little points they gained were not because of the teachers but because of the repetitive practice. Additionally their student to teacher ratios were very high, so you couldn't ask many questions or get help in areas where you needed it. After coming here, my score went up by 400 points. The classes are structured very uniquely so you focus primarily on skills that you struggle with and get personalized practice problems. There's a "level" structure so you master how to do problems of a certain difficulty before you move to more challenging problems and learning this way really helped my raise my score quickly. I also learned how to read the different types of passages (for critical reading), identify common patterns/structures, and other skills that helped me understand how to master the test each time I took it. I think that's what really makes this place different, that you don't learn how to "cheat" problems, but rather you really understand the purpose of every question and how the test is made. The owner is also very knowledgable and personally teaches classes one on one so you can ask a lot of questions and clear your confusions. He genuinely cares about increasing your score and isn't trying to make as much money as he can off of every kid (Something I saw at the other centers where they kept trying to sell me packages that I didn't need). You do classes in areas that you need help in, nothing unnecessary or pointless. Since I was referred here I told my friends who went to HS2 and Ivy Max about this place and they decided to sign up after years of stagnant scores; their score went up right away in two months at Mega Prep. I'm currently doing college applications here and I'm getting a lot of unique help and advice that my school counselors or google weren't able to tell me. The process is very thorough and individualized so that I'm applying to schools that are good for me and am doing everything I can to ensure that I get in. I have some friends a couple years older then me who did apps with Mega Prep and all of them got into basically all of their top schools (most with full rides, all with at least 50% aid for four years). Also the writing I've learned so far has also helped me in school for normal essays and reports. I'm honestly very happy with what I've accomplished here and am very glad that I decided to come here last year instead of one of the other test prep centers. The attention I get is holistic and creative and I'd probably be very stressed if I had to worry about getting in college by myself. The interior is also really nice so it's not a stuffy environment. read more

For anybody trying to find improve their SAT/ACT scores, MegaPrep is definitely the place to go. At MegaPrep, students are provided with everything essential to succeed in standardized testing, whether that may be a limitless supply of real practices, a detailed explanation of any question you may come across, or one-on-one analysis of your strengths and weaknesses. Since some of the classes may come close to meal times, the location of MegaPrep makes it easy to get some good food before or after class. While the outside of MegaPrep may look intimidating to some, the inside is very comfortable and spacious. After reading this, some people might say that I'm biased since I attended this academy. That may be true, but my high review of MegaPrep isn't baseless. Before attending this academy, I've looked into many different test prep centers (like Flex and HS2), asked a few friends on their opinions, and even tried listening to a few of their "lectures." Expecting to learn something that was mind-blowing and genius, I quickly realized that the teachers at other places never seemed to answer the questions posed by students and only reiterated on things that most students already knew. Rather than truly "teaching," the teachers at other prep centers tended to teach more on "test taking techniques." However, I didn't think that was significantly helping any of the students and simply wasn't what I was looking for. So my search of the "perfect test prep center" continued. Somewhere down the line, a senior friend of mine introduced me to MegaPrep. When I asked what classes were like, he described them as "super beneficial" and "something worth looking forward to." To be honest, I went into MegaPrep thinking that my friend was only exaggerating, but that wasn't the case. When I first went inside, I was amazed by the learning environment. The students were studying hard and attentive in class, but looked so happy. Following a long talk with the owner (super smart Korean guy!), I was given an essay to write and a SAT diagnostic test to complete. After that, my results were analyzed and I was assigned to a level for each of the three sections: critical reading, grammar, and math. In the classes sorted out by levels, students were given all the aid they needed. Classes were taught at a pace that ensured true learning and clear understanding of any confusions students may have had. Instead of teaching random test techniques, teachers helped students develop skills that could be applied directly on the test as well as in everyday life. For critical reading, I learned how to identify passage types, understand passage organization, find the opinions and supporting examples, and so much more. For grammar, I learned how certain grammar structures worked, the rules, the tenses, what was on the test and what wasn't on the test but still should be understood. For math, I absorbed techniques and methods that allowed me to solve questions faster but ensured accurate answers. All in all, the classes gave me skills that I could apply on the test, in school, and even in the future. The teachers were engaging while teaching the material, keeping the class lively. At the end of the trial session, I had so much fun learning that I told my mom that MegaPrep had the strict, fun, informative classes that I was looking for and promptly signed up. read more

My friend and I (both sophomores) took English classes from Mega Prep for the May 6th SAT. It was more like one-on-one tutoring which I preferred to a traditional classroom setting and the teacher was always enjoyable to be around. He appears gruff the first time you meet him but he really is determined to see you achieve your goal. His training is rigorous and challenging but I can't argue with the results, or his special brand of humor as he pushes you towards that elusive high score. Although I will no longer be taking classes with him, I would strongly recommend him to any interested in taking the SAT. (I spent about 5 - 6 months in his courses, and ended with a 1460/1600 on the new SAT first try, and will not be taking it again) read more

I definitely recommend Megaprep as a student who attended for around two years. I took the summer SAT classes and the personal ACT classes. I was also in the college admissions essay class. I have had a good experience at this academy, getting a score that was in my goal. The teachers and classes are very personal, which helps the student fix their problems quickly, without simply being taught the "way to take the test". We are taught to comprehend and apply our reading skills to the test. I have and would still recommend Megaprep to my friends and whoever needs a SAT tutoring academy. read more

Personally, I raised my score from 1700 to 2200 which is a raise of 500 points. I learned the complex structure of the SAT test and how it is made. From there, I was able to succeed particularly well at at the critical reading and the grammar sections. The math section was difficult for me, but I was able to get a decent score because of the practice that mega prep provided me with. As of now, I am preparing for college applications and taking college counseling from mega prep. The one to one help I am receiving to write my essays is extremely valuable and streamlining the college application process. The experience of writing these essays are also benefiting me in my English classes. read more

Excellent college counseling with one on one attention. Experienced and carefully thought out strategies for profile building. Flexible scheduling with attention to detail. Mr. Park worked with my daughter one on one for SAT English and gave her specific feedback and strategies to improve her score. Mr. Park watches over every student personally. If my daughter forgot a 4:00pm class he would call at 4:05pm and ask "Where are you?" He is strict but gets work done. He also had the students working on their essays way ahead of time which felt like too much work at first but life saver in the end. Mr. Park's essay editing skills are top quality. He is also very good with giving feedback and promptly scheduling meetings with parents to discuss student's progress and goal setting. He worked with us to select appropriate summer programs for my daughter and also to create a list of colleges based on her credential and personality. Mega prep is a great place for motivated students aiming for top colleges. read more

Mr.Park is helpful and thorough in everything that he does. I went to Mega Prep for college applications - a daunting challenge where I did not even know where to begin. Mr. Park made navigating the process much easier, and helped us in ways that other consulting centers or online resources were not able to give us. The only regret I have is not also doing my SAT and ACT prep here, as well as taking advantage of the other resources they offer to aid with your current high school classes. I highly recommend coming to Mega Prep for anything remotely related to the college preparation process, after roaming around various tutoring spots trying to find one that matched what I was looking for, I finally found it in Mega Prep. read more
