This auto school is very disorganized. They never pick up the phone and do not know how to communicate with their customers.

I'm not trying to criticize his technique as a whole, but I do want others to have a clear sense of what to expect. Booking a session was quick and easy, and I was able to get an appointment the very next day, which I really appreciated. I understand that driving instructors sometimes need to be curt and direct for safety reasons. However, I think the type of feedback also needs to match the situation and the student's experience level. For me, the lesson felt like an hour of being yelled at. I was constantly aware that I was doing something wrong, but not always what I had done wrong or how to fix it. My impression was that Lucien overestimated my prior driving experience. This could likely have been resolved by taking a few moments to pause, talk through what we were about to do, and ask whether I had done it before. When I asked questions, Lucien was willing to demonstrate, but many of his instructions weren't clear to me, and his tone made me feel as though I was being scolded, even if that wasn't his intention. If I made the same mistake multiple times, that suggested I didn't understand something, not that I wasn't trying. Instead, he seemed frustrated that I didn't get it immediately and would tell me I was doing it wrong without giving concrete, descriptive feedback about how to correct it. For example, when I was practicing turning, he would yell that I was doing it wrong and grab the wheel, which didn't help me understand what I needed to change. It would have been far more helpful to pull over, explain the steps clearly, and then practice on a quiet street where I could try again safely and independently. There were also times when I misunderstood his instructions (for instance, going into the leftmost lane instead of going to the leftmost lane that eventually turns right). His immediate response was to yell that I hadn't listened, rather than clarify what I had misunderstood. This approach felt infantilizing and made me upset and distracted, which wasn't conducive to learning. Pedagogically, it also didn't make much sense to me. I wasn't paying $70 an hour to ignore instructions; if I wasn't following them correctly, it meant something about the instructions wasn't clear. A more helpful response would have been to ask what part I had misunderstood and adjust the explanation so I could succeed next time. Overall, Lucien may be a good fit for students who thrive under very direct and high-pressure instruction, are very good at articulating the specific skills that they already have and are hoping to gain, and are better at interpreting his feedback. For others, his style may be stressful and difficult to learn from.

I was extremely nervous and freaked out a lot on the road, but Instructor Ray was always very patient and helped me gain confidence. He had a set plan on how we progress each day and he drilled me on all the important aspects on the exam. Passed on my first try with him. My significant other also passed with this school. Highly recommend. The scheduling has also been very easy, and they send you confirmations/reminders the day before. Very friendly staff.

Despite Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 90, Section 10 clearly stating that foreign license holders can legally drive in the state for up to one year with a proper translation, the school rejected my application citing Appendix C from the RMV -- which only applies to license conversion, not to the legality of driving as a recent arrival. I have been in the U.S. for just 4 months, well within the 6-month window confirmed by the RMV for driving on a foreign license. I explained this to the school, but they were unwilling to acknowledge the legal difference. I found their approach dismissive and poorly informed of state law. It's unfortunate to see a driving school show such limited understanding of the legal framework they operate within. I do not recommend them to international drivers, especially those who meet all legal requirements but are treated as if they don't.

I've learned manual transmission 5 years ago and got my manual license in my own country. But since…read moreit's been so long ago, and I wasn't really ready to drive in a manual in the real world and I was always dreaming of getting a manual transmission car. I was nervous, went out for test driving several manual cars, got embarrassed how bad my manual driving skill was, stalled the test drive car 2 times, and I decided to take some serious training to fresh up my memories and also learn some new useful skills of driving a manual. George is welcoming and very helpful. What he taught me, the 'pushing the clutch in a bit' technique with coordination of the gas pedal, is extremely useful. Instead of 'only let the clutch off slowly' to launch, I launched way more efficiently than I did when I was getting my license. So far I've already got 3 lessons in total. I'm gonna get the full 6 courses in the next following weeks. George told me that the clutch of STI is pretty stiff, so if you can drive the STI well that probably means you can drive any other manual cars even more comfortably. I can tell George truly cares about his students and I recommend this to anyone that wants to learn how to drive a manual transmission.

I waited for around 45 minutes in the dark parking lot, the office was closed, although it showed open on the website. I kept calling their number, but no one picked up. I left 4 voice mails also, called in earlier in the day to confirm the appointment as well and left a voicemail then also. No one cared to call me back. And no one showed up on the site for the classes well past 8. Such a terrible experience. I hope no one goes through this ordeal.
