Monday 1/28/19 1:27 arrived - greeted by receptionist who was working with someone when I walked in. Not a long wait at all. Less than 5 minutes. Receptionist was very nice and professional. My co-pays was same as a specialty doctor. It is important to ask if they are in-network. Clean waiting area. The young lady that took my blood pressure, pulse and tempature was very nice and professional. The overall look of this place is really nice. My room was clean and welcoming. The doctor, Dr. Carla McLain, was awesome. She was very confident, knowledgeable, and professional. Very pleased with this clinic. My mother arrived at 7:50 , an African american women with a pony tail on 01/02/2025 sat at the door and stared at her for 5 minutes while she was at the door. The policy says online that if a patient arrives and walks inside before 8pm they should be granted services. This was a horrible experience and would not ever recommend this location to anyone to work or be serviced. read more

So, as you can see from my previous review, I had a great experience here a while back. It was so good, I even recommended it to my family members whenever they got sick. Fast forward to about a month ago when I was having excruciating tailbone pain. I dealt with it for a few days and then when it became too much, I hobbled over to MedExpress. Their Covid-19 procedures are thorough, but unfortunately that's where the thoroughness ended for me. I walked in, explained my situation to the doctor, and she barely looked at me. She didn't provide me with a gown, didn't ask for me to lay down on the bed, nothing. she just looked at my lower back, said there's nothing that can be done about tailbone injuries, especially while pregnant, since I can't get an xray. She sent me on my way with the advice to take some tylenol and good luck. The next day, the pain got so intense that I got my husband to take me to the ER. They did a full exam and informed me that it was not a tailbone injury, it was an abscess and asked me to follow up with my primary care doctor right away. I did, and ended up having surgery the same week due to infection that could have spread to my blood. I'm truly appalled and can't even think about what would have happened if I had listened to the people at MedExpress and just took tylenol and dealt with the pain at home. Quickly want to say how impressed I am with MedExpress Urgent Care in the West End. Last night when I started feeling worse, and contemplating if I really wanted to spend the rest of the night sitting at Patient First looking at those dingy green curtains and hoping every footstep that walks by your room is coming for you. So, of course I got on Yelp (I know, only I would look up medical reviews), and found this facility with almost 5 stars. It was so clean, everyone was friendly and empathetic, and I didn't have to fill out paperwork-just give ID and insurance. I was even given an estimate of what I would be billed (Patient First just charges you). Before I had my ID back in my wallet, I was being called to triage. In and out in ONE hour and told call back if I need anything (normally a non heartfelt blanket statement in healthcare). Fast forward to this evening, and my symptoms were getting worse. Called, and asked to speak with a nurse (the usual) to get a different med called in. They took my number and a few hours later, the DOCTOR calls me back himself. And now new meds are being called in. For these reasons, I will continue to bypass the two Patient First's near me and make the drive here for urgent care needs. read more

Went here after being denied my insurance at CareNow. I immediately felt welcomed. The manager Connie Rollins checked me in and was incredibly professional & personable. Not a long wait at all. The nurse Shelby was also incredible & empathetic. Doctor Jennie saw me and made me feel comfortable and cared for. Overall I had an amazing experience and would recommend this location to anyone, especially if you have Medicaid! Very frustrating experience. After nearly 30 minutes to complete registering, I mentioned that we had disability paperwork for the employer (not workers comp) - the person doing registration had to check with the provider about completing it, and that was when we learned that they won't touch it AND the X-ray wasn't available (maybe due to not having a tech). Since I mentioned the paperwork at the end, I can understand that slightly, though there should be more clarity on the website about it, because it's a pretty standard employer form. However, we could have saved a lot of time if we'd known from the start, when I started we were there for back pain, that an X-ray wasn't possible and we wouldn't get a full diagnosis. It's highly unlikely I'll even give MedExpress another chance, based on the other reviews I read. I know to take negatives with a grain of salt and understand there's likely to be more negative than positive, because people rarely speak up in public when things are good, but this is a time to believe them. read more

Injured myself in the gym and went straight to MedExpress for an x-ray on a Saturday around 10:30 a.m. There were two people ahead of me, and I got in relatively quickly. The building was clean, the staff was nice, and they had the equipment and staff needed to treat me. While the radiologist isn't in their building, they send digital images of the x-rays to him/her offsite and get results ASAP. All told I was probably there an hour. Maybe less. My only complaint is the FNP walked in on me while I was changing clothes. She knocked and didn't wait at all for my permission to enter. She apologized, and I'm sure she'll never make that mistake again after the way I growled at her. read more

I got to this place 2 people waiting before me, lobby was otherwise empty. Waited almost 25 minutes for my turn to go up to desk. ( I was there for a drug test for part time job). Completed my part quickly and sat down and waited for almost an hour, again two,people before me. They call the two in and I think I'm next and they called in someone who came after me. I was sitting in front of the counter watching as two nurses picked up my folder and put it right down. One of the nurses I could read her lips saying he is going to wait. And wait I did! CYNTHIA FRONT DESK ASSISTANT Horrible experience the lady at the front desk was a complete disaster. Not only was she rude af the entire time but she would not let me continue the check in process unless I gave her a email I didn't have ! She repeatedly said email is mandatory which if you have ever been to a urgent care emails are not a requirement to be seen. The lady would ask me the same question 5 time to try and waste more time and frustrate me! During the simple check in process she left the desk 6 different times for no apparent reason other than to waste my time. After about 45 min of watching Cynthia play games she told me that the wait would be " a very long time" after I asked her repeatedly for a time frame, once I signed the last hippa form Cynthia completely ignored me and my questions as if I wasn't even there. This woman was not only ignorant rude and aggressive but looked like a hippopotamus that had a bad hair day. I wanted a covid test. I called ahead & they said no problem I could walk in. I walked in got registered. There were about 6 people in the lobby. Over 2 hrs later still waiting to be seen. About 1 person every 30 min. Very poor service. Very poor managing expectations. Go elsewhere. read more

I had arrived at Med Express at approximately 7:30 pm to have stitches removed that they had put in a week and half ago only to find out they were closed. I called the next morning to inquire if their hours had changed. I was told hours are 8am - 8pm however they may close earlier sometimes. The lady was very rude. Once I get the stitches removed I will never go back to this place. They should not operate a business like that especially an emergency care center. read more

Worst experience ever. Nurse practitioner on duty was unprofessional, rude and misinformed. Told us because rapid was positive for my daughter and myself, my sons was negative, they needed to do PCR test and it would definitely came back positive. It was negative. Was encouraged not to retest, nurse practitioner told us the positive results could be with us for a month or two. My daughter and I had no symptoms at all. Went to a different facility and got the PCR done a few days later and results were negative. Because of nurse practitioner my daughter missed school, she could have gone back if we had retested and a negative result within 48 hrs. We will never step foot in this facility again!! read more

This place is the pits, the first day they gave my son the wrong drug test, then the second day they waited for the time to expire to tell me it's to late to get the test done. I got my covid test here and the testing facility is very neat and clean and the receptionist was friendly and efficient. I was in and out within 20 minutes and was treated politely. They told me in person that i would receive a call later with my results. Theres nothing here to misunderstand, they did a great job providing an essential service for my betterment. read more

Came here to get a rapid covid test after traveling with family for vacation. All 5 have runny noses coughing etc. told us it would be a 2 hour wait to get our damn noses swabbed. We waited the 2 hours, called to find out how much longer, was told it would be 45 more min and that there was 4 ppl ahead of us. Called back 45 min later and was told ANOTHER 45 min and there was 3 ppl ahead of us. All the while, I have seen cars come and go with discharge paperwork in hand. This is ridiculous! I have been waiting in the car with a pregnant wife and 3 children for 3 1/2 hours just to a 5 minute swab. read more

COVID 19 TEST ? My family came to have my Covid 19 test because they doesn't require appointment. They was nice when you are first calling and come to test. When I called in to check about my results, the front deck representatives were so rule. They said that I cannot call to ask for my test result and I have to wait for the doctor call me back. What kind the health care provider is this? Why they make that so complicated to check on the results while it takes them 2 minutes to check on their systems. My sister had Covid 19 test last week and I helped her to call in to check her results, it took 2 minutes for them to check and tell her that it was negative. The doctor did not call her back for her result either since we called in. Do I have to be lucky to call in and talk to someone in the mood to answer the question? Sienna, the front desk, was telling me that calling in would not speech up my test result and said that she does not have my test results back when she does not even get my information. I currently had a cold and a sore throat that would not go away. Based on all the reviews, this place was where I needed to go. The wait was maybe 20 minutes if that and seemed pretty normal compared to other urgent care places I've been to for me and my family members. I was seen immediately, treated and was given options on where I could get my prescriptions because I'm not from this area. I would go here again. Everyone was friendly and kind. The pricing was not bad at all! I was so thankful and I will continue to go here for all my urgent care needs. read more

My son developed a rash that wasn't responsive to Benadryl and seemed to be spreading. Was worried that waiting until the morning when his pediatrician's office would be open wasn't the right idea, so we made our way to MedExpress. We arrived just after 7:00 PM, and they close at 8:00. We were in and out before their regular closing time, and we were treated well from start to finish. My son was comfortable - and even giggling - while there rather than anxious. Everyone we interacted with from the front desk to the nurse to the physician was fantastic and understanding, and I was glad I'd trusted my instincts to see someone immediately. read more

This is regarding the location on Nine Mile Road- Wow. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a medical facility. When you arrive, you are not supposed to go in, but call to check in. I waited on hold for 10 mins, only to be disconnected. I tried calling back and was placed on hold without even a greeting or a reason for the disconnect. I then went inside to check in. Again, one of the worst experiences. There were two Women supposedly working to check patients in. One refused to answer me when I told her I wasn't able to check in over the phone, and instead just said she couldn't help me. The other one just pretended that I was invisible and refused to even acknowledge my existence. Two other people walked in and tried to explain that they too were unable to check in over the phone. They received the same rude and horrible treatment. I left at that point, as it occurred to me that if the rude and lazy front staff were any indication of the medical staff, ( and I'm assuming they were, otherwise why would they tolerate the staff to behave so unprofessionally to people in need of medical attention) then I feel sorry for anybody who had no choice buy to stay. After I left, I went to Patient First in Mechanicsville and was promptly checked in and treated by the professional medical staff...the way it should be. It is absolutely inexcusable that ANY medical facility set up to serve the community is so inept and useless at doing just that. I would advise anyone to seek out any other facility or location. Convenience is not as important as competence. Shame on you MedExpress. read more

I went to medExpress when I thought I had a stomach bug and I had a really really bad back pain. They checked my kidneys and my stomach, but they found nothing. When I went when I went there I was trying to get some kind of knowledge of why I was feeling like that. However, they misdiagnosed me!!!!!! They said I just had a stomach bug, but I had a kidney stone!!!! I had two nurses and a doctor looking at me and no one thought that I might have a kidney stone because I didn't have a kidney infection. Kidney stones didn't even come up. Im a 23 year old woman so I had no clue why I was in so much pain. Patient first is the one that told me I might have a kidney stone and I need to go to the hospital. They told me that I need to go because they couldn't they didn't have the equipment to diagnose me. Also, they told me that I might have a kidney stone from the documents at MedExpress gave me!!!!!! Patient first even have to look at me just the documents at that MedExpress gave me. I will never go back to MedExpress ever again. It was the worst place I've ever gone for a doctors. Med express has no idea what they're doing and I don't advise anyone to go there!!!!! read more
