All of the doctors, nurses, tech, etc in the ICU were fantastic. After leaving ICU, I was placed on a regular form for an additional 4 days or so. My doctors, again, were fantastic; very personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about me as their patient. Overall, I had a wonderful experience while in Athens Limestone Hospital, as wonderful as one can have being so ill. I would like to address to people directly though. I had nurse by the name of Gabby while on the regular floor. She was horrible. She should not be a nurse, not for Athens Limestone Hospital nor for any other hospital. When she first came into my room, it was immediately obvious that she did not want to be there and could not have cared less about me, as her patient, and presumably about any other of her patients. She was not friendly, did not want to be bothered to helped me, would not answer her page and on many occasions never came into my room to see what I needed and was the only nurse to jab the diabetes needle into my arm, which actually hurt. She is beyond a horrible nurse, and should be fired immediately. She is not a good representative for Athens Limestone Hospital. I would also like to comment on Barbara; she goes by Bam Bam or Jo Jo. She is with the housekeeping staff. She was fantastic. She went above and beyond, way above and beyond, what her job would require her to do. She always had a big smile on her fact when she came into my room, enjoyed talking with me, and genuinely cared how I was doing. She cleaned my room far better than any of the other housekeeping staff, taking the time to go the extra mile. She is a true asset to Athens Limestone Hospital and one that I hope is recognized for her exceptional service. Thank you, Bam. You made my stay at the hospital more enjoyable with your presence.

Dave drove past it due to all the tall trees outside and the growth of Madison in general. They have implemented a new automated check in system upon entering. Each person coming inside is screened and has to give their license and reason for why they are at the hospital. I realize this would upset some people but it's a procedure that must be followed. The same procedure exists at Huntsville Hospital. Check in the last time I was at HH in August 2024 was not automated. I went to the second floor to check in for cataract removal and lens implant surgery. Check in was smooth and quick. I was taken back to a prep for surgery room but there was no bed. I arrived 15 minutes early for my arrival time. The hospital has 5 eye surgery beds and I had to wait for one to be available. My nurse, Christine, is excellent. She made my stay there as comfortable as possible. I highly recommend her. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Campbell, is excellent. I highly recommend him. He too, made my stay there as comfortable as possible. My surgeon, Dr. Foster, is excellent. I highly recommend him. The staff on the second floor for eye surgery are all excellent. All of them did their best to make sure I was taken care of. I know they did the same for other patients as I could hear their communications. I highly recommend Madison Hospital if you have to have eye surgery. The staff are kind and respectful and my experience there was 5/5!!!

This hospital has been around for many years with upgrades and additional parking garage added. The cost for parking is $2. The original visitor parking garage was well lit, with wider parking spaces and easy to get in and out of. The new parking garage built a while ago is dark, has very small spaces and tight turns. The new parking was given to visitors and the old comfortable well lit parking garage was given to staff. It is difficult to find parking for a small car like a Honda Civic. People driving the huge trucks and SUV's have a doozy of a time trying to get in and out of the visitor parking garage. There are lots of paint colors on the concrete walls that are part of the ramp going up and down. HH takes all patients regardless of whether you have insurance. My experience many many years ago with going with a friend to the ER with her daughter aged 7 was that the ER wait was very long. From the time we arrived to the time the child was admitted 4 hours 45 minutes had passed. Try keeping a 7 year old quiet and calm when they hurt. She had a twisted colon and required surgery. Thankfully the surgery was successful and she's a thriving mom now. It is a hike from the parking garage to the patient rooms. Everyone has to go thru Security before visiting a patient. Be prepared to give Security your driver's license and a phone number. Everyone is to check in and check out thru Security. Several tests were run on my MIL. Her care team made sure they dotted the "i's" and crossed the "t's". She was sent back to Proveer after 5 days of testing. HH was supposed to call to let us know my MIL was being transported back but they didn't let us know timely. We found out she was sent back 90 minutes later. By the time we arrived at Proveer, MIL was very agitated. HH has been the go to Level I hospital in Huntsville and surrounding areas. Based on ailments, locals know which hospital ER they will head to.

Ehn, I shudder at the thought of that place! Enter HH, Madison Lab. Easy online scheduling with, I believe, first available appmt. at 0620, which is great for those [like me] who are fasting. I think my appmt. was around 740. You wait in your car, they text you and you go in. The pond w/ a walking trail around it is so pretty with the fountain feature in the middle, that the time flies by while you enjoy the pond as you wait for your appmt. The interior was clean and cozy. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't comment on that. There is a kiosk to check in and I'm accustomed to having my driver's license, insurance card, and credit card all set to show the receptionist -- not here, they had everything they needed and all I had to do was use the kiosk to check in. WIN. The staff wore masks, and I think we patients did, too and they kept the waiting room capacity down to ~ 4 "patients." Why no 5th star? The lady who drew my blood, although sweet as pie, did a horrible job, and bruised my veins so badly, it took over a week to heal! Thank goodness it didn't hurt at the time, nor did it take her long to pull like 3 vials, but goodness -- DON'T jab me/us like that. Next time, I'll use my right arm that has better veins. I do recommend this lab, it's way nicer than the place that rhymes with "Lab Score."

I was…read morethere for a medical emergency stemming from a bout of pneumonia and RSV, compounded by an underlying autoimmune disorder that affects my lungs called pulmonary sarcoidosis. As I was admitted very ill, almost unable to walk, my son took my phone from out of my hand against my wishes ( I was physically unable to stop him) which he shortly thereafter used to gain access to my electronic door lock, turn off my security system, and rob my house of all valuables . Instead of doing the sensible thing and getting my phone back from my son, a male nurse there whose name escapes me believed my Actively Hostile ex wife and my thief of a son against the the evidence of their own eyes and very much against my wishes. Under threat of police action, WHILE IN THE ER STILL, I was forced to go to Decatur West mental hospital. My son and ex wife weaponized my mental health diagnosis of bipolar disorder obtained in 2008. I was at Decatur Morgan West for about a day, before being released after being recognized as not having a mental episode, but being severely physically ill and nearly dying not days before. The level of incompetence in almost outright hostility experienced by the staff there by me is utterly offensive. This goes beyond medical malpractice to just straight up mean or even evil. I mean who does that?? 'oh this guy presents with life threatening issues, better get him UNDER POLICE THREAT to the local mental hospital '. What moron made that decision? It's the male nurse on staff there , or at least he was the one who communicated that to me. I'm sure others were involved, as I'm sure, they will all pass the buck and point fingers at others. Regardless the entire facility, the entire ER staff, failed me utterly in that moment. Signed, a VERY displeased Dr. JP Thornton, DBA Pic 1 is some blood I spit up a bit over a week ago. The doctor on call at my surgeon's office said that I needed to go to the ER. I avoid the HSV hospital zoo at all costs so I went to Crestwood. I know the staff is jaded. I know they've seen the absolute worst of the worst. They are underpayed, understaffed and just plain tired. But that doesn't take away the responsibility for them to show empathy and respect to all patients. After I was triaged by two nurses who barely looked at me, I sat in the empty waiting room for over an hour before being seen. (The nurse told me that it had been an unusually quiet evening so that wasn't an excuse). I was finally wheeled back to the exam room. On our way down the hall, the nurse said "you should have called your doctor". My husband told her that we did and he sent us here. Then she said "well you should have gone and sat in his office until you were seen". She completely discounted my reason for coming to the ER. The attending NP examined me and said the that the procedure that I needed was too dangerous to do in the ER. He sent me home with medication and told me to see my surgeon Monday morning. (My surgeon could not believe that I was sent home). I ended up having emergency surgery Tuesday morning. By then I had additional complications from having waited so long. I do wonder if that would have happened had the NP put more effort into trying to help me - not just pass me back. Crestwood has been our hospital of choice since we moved here. Since the CEO Pam Hudson left, the hospital has gone downhill. This slide has been gaining momentum and now, what used to be the premiere choice, will finally crash into the big circus in town, HSV hospital. My most recent encounter with Crestwood was not stellar. Sadly, I doubt my next will be any better.
