Since BJ's opened in 2007 I haven't been to another bingo hall. This is because every time I go I always get a great deal on bingo, food in the diner and drinks in the bar. There is usually some sort of giveaway on - last time I went I got a free laptop bag! The diner has loads to offer and it's really cheap. They are really generous with the portions so if you can still see some white of your plate they will gladly cover it up with more chips, extra faggot gravy or another heap of curry. At £2 a pint - and a decent pint too - my husband quietens down for the evening and relaxes with his paper. He's not a bingo player but he loves a cheap night out. We took my sister-in-law recently and she absolutely loved it! Having not been before the pace of the game surprised her, so her G&T's stopped and out came the diet coke. She'll learn with time... This is by far the best bingo hall I have ever been to. There is always a good buzz as soon as you walk through the door. There is a cafe area which sells food such as fish and chips, burgers or jacket potatoes which are great value for money. There is a slot machine area too if you don't want to play bingo or fancy your luck after the games have finished. The staff are really helpful especially if you are not sure what books to buy if you are new to the Bingo game. I joined a few years ago and it was £1 to join then and you recieve a membership card in the post. The prices are great and there are loads of bingo games, with prices from around £10 to hundreds of thousands. It makes a great change to the usual night out and is full of people of all ages, male and female, a real mix, so never think that Bingo is for old people because it's not. I think that this hall will always be busy as the clientele are really supportive and there always seems to be a big crowd whatever night you may visit it on. The food is really good and cheap, just chips, burgers and chicken, but its cooked really well and the staff serving the food and drink are really good and efficient, so there arent any queues and you can eat and drink at the Bingo tables which is good for business. The bingo callers are very entertaining and the actual Bingo game is easy to follow even if you havent ever played before.

It was the first time most of us had played bingo, and it really was good fun, not because the game was fun, but because it was so hard. You wouldn't think that crossing off numbers on a piece of paper would be all that hard, but at the speed they read out those numbers, I can assure you it is. By the end of the evening we were all rolling about laughing, much to the annoyance of the regulars. I don't suppose these big old bingo halls will survive the onslaught of internet bingo, so try it soon or miss one of the funniest nights of your life.

After attending a session at Mecca bingo in Crewe this evening I have vowed never to go again…read more There was a total fiasco with the late session games. Someone called the 2nd house only to be told that they were missing number 57 to complete the house, this number had been called several numbers beforehand and people using the paper books had marked it off Apparently it had not shown up on the max boards or lit up above the caller, the manager was called to sort it out but could not see what the problem was, the house was then called by someone else on a different number.Several people informed the manager that they had previously marked number 57 off on their books but he would not accept that, saying that it could not have been called. I would like to know how so many people had marked it off if it hadnt been called, the game was a farce ! I was with a friend for the bingo this evening so you have now lost 2 paying guests for future sessions. I am not saying this as sour grapes, I was nowhere near to winning but I feel it is so unfair on the person who rightly should have had the prize money.
