Iy means d everything to be treated so well as a homeless person. GFW understands exactly what homeless women need. From feminine hygiene products to clothes, laundry vouchers to gas/trans vouchers -- their resources keep you alive and WELL. The social workers are amazing and tapped into every resource in Monterey County. You won't find a better group of people anywhere. The weekly luncheon on Tuesdays, offsite in Carmel, is a wonderful networking opportunity and a beautiful event I look forward to. Here is some information from their website: Gathering for Women is a caring community... Where homeless women can get a hot meal, free clothing and some limited emergency assistance. Where health, mental health, and other service providers can connect with homeless women to offer them help. Where homeless women can learn how to keep themselves safe and health. Where the community can learn from homeless women about what they need. Where housing providers can connect with, screen, and place women into permanent housing. Mission: Supporting the Homeless and Hungry Vision: Our vision is that the homeless and hungry have a place on the Monterey Peninsula where they can access food, clothing, a caring community, and connections to resources and services. Values: Hope Empowerment Advocacy Respect Transparency Gathering for Women also operates a Food Pantry for All that is open three days a week and provides basic food staples to all hungry people on the Monterey Peninsula. We operate three locations offering a variety of services. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays we provide services designed to reduce immediate harm and help homeless women transition out of homelessness, such as clothing, personal care items, case management, comprehensive resource support, limited emergency assistance, education to promote their health and safety, and connections to community service providers. Every Tuesday we provide homeless women with a caring community and a hot nutritious meal. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays we provide nonperishable food for anyone in need. Everyday we are working towards a permanent facility to consolidate our program into a drop-in Day Center with one-stop for resources serving homeless women on the Monterey Peninsula. Our Goal To provide the resources that will promote health, safety, and housing readiness among our women guests. Our hope is that every homeless woman will eventually be housed with appropriate supportive services.
