This allowed our families a more intimate experience at each learning station the staff provided. The kids were able to see snakes, turtles, and owls up close and learned all about them. They also did a craft project which was a huge hit. I can't say enough good things about the staff and how they helped us organize the event. The center itself is a wonderful place with so much to do. They have a soon-to-be-open natural playground next to the center as well as a variety of running/walking trails in a variety of distances. If you haven't been here, you're truly missing out.

Very clean and perfectly maintained shower house and laundry facilities. 1st class host(s) that escort you to your site and welcome you with a warm smile. The park features wide open grass areas, a couple areas of high grass, a forested area, and a separate area for little dogs. The park itself is pretty good sized, maybe 1/2 mile in circumference if you walk the fence (as many folks do). It should be noted that there are many more bully breed dogs on Saturday and Sunday afternoons than other times. I dont have anything against these breeds per se, but they do play a little too rough for some dogs. There are very few inconsiderate people at this dog park, which I think is what makes it such a good one, but you'd still be wise to watch your step and keep a close eye on your dog. I know my little gremlin loves to come here, and I'm usually able to strike up a convo w/ somebody interesting.

The Salt Fork Center is an aging A-frame building, and the A/C was NOT working. After being crowded inside a few hours, guests began to figure out that the exterior temperature had come down enough that it felt slightly cooler outside. Putting aside the A/C problem, this place offered an easy-to-access water-and-woods escape from Champaign-Urbana, just 15 to 20 minutes away.

The way the sun hits this lake is comparable only to pictures that I have seen in story books of lands far away or that have only existed in our imaginations. When the sunsets over it colors are displayed on this iridescent canvas that have no name. The trees are simply gorgeous with amazing diversity in variety. They supply ample shade for picnicers and families enoying the peace and beauty here. There are many ancient trees that appear to be hundreds of years old deep in the woods. Homer Lake as the people who live near here call it also bosts many amenities such as a look out tower, various trails, play grounds, and a very educational nature center. I left here feeling at peace. What a beautiful place!

It was back in the woods near a clear lake. There were paved trails we rode our bikes on to get around. The boat dock was pretty looking out to another lake area. There were old buildings that were well kept on the festival grounds. Very neat! Especially the old train car that is set up as an old restaurant that used to be in service. I would love to come back to the park for the festival and other times throughout the year! I know some festivarians had unfortunate experiences getting into the festival grounds Wednesday and Thursday because of Wednesday's downpour but to me they tried their best to get things up to par as quick as possible and continued everyday throughout the weekend. They also had a small disc golf course set up and a playground that I noticed.

Sholem provided the perfect spot for this morning's swim! While I can't speak to this facility during a busier time, I can speak to my experience in the pools earlier hours. I was able to walk up to their admission desk and, after talking briefly with the friendly desk worker, I paid my $6 to swim and headed into the locker room. During my swim, there was never more than 4 people in the pool and I was able to swim in one of their 3 lanes for most of my swim. Additionally, while the air was a little chilly this morning, the pool temperature was perfect! I thoroughly enjoyed my swim and would recommend this spot to anyone looking. I also eyed a pretty awesome lazy river that I'd like to take a few laps through if I find myself itching to swim again before I head back to St. Louis!
