Ambrose Solar - Wow! Wow! Wow! Gorgeous solar install by Ambrose Solar!

My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of…read moresalespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My parents purchased solar from a HORRIBLE company that sounds a lot like 'SunFun'. After they passed away, and the house was sold...we were STILL making the monthly payments for over a year!!! That SunFun organization REFUSED to transfer the solar to the new homeowner, and eventually stopped taking or acknowledging our calls. It wasn't until we had to threaten the new homeowner with a lawsuit that SunFun finally transferred ownership. Due to this, we could not trust any of these solar companies...that is, until Kevin Bedard came to our home, and explained everything in great detail to my husband and I. He took the time to hear about our concerns, and he showed us how he truly cared. That same week, we spoke to two other families who shared their positive experiences about Ambrose Solar that made us feel that we would be in great hands. We had FINALLY FOUND A PEACE about getting solar on our home; KNOWING we would be in good hands, and we were ALL IN. It's been six months now, and we are beyond pleased with our solar panels, and the two Tesla batteries we have purchased. We are true fans, who have NOTHING but RAVE REVIEWS for this company. If you don't have solar, or if you need to add solar, Kevin Bedard is your man! and Ambrose is your company. Every employee has been amazing and helpful. In a world where customer service has taken a dump, this company has remained a class act. So again...if you are considering solar, call Ambrose, and tell them Albert and Rhonda sent you.

Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. The culture of deeply valuing customer service that they have built is unmatched by many businesses these days. I am SO pleased, and SO impressed, and I can promise that you will be too!

My girlfirend said: It's nothing like it was 30 years ago. [wink emoji - like yeah, nothing is] If you've ever been through a corporate merger or a non-profit merger, well, you might catch the scent. Alt-E of Massachusetts is the new owner of Real Goods (as of just weeks ago). Alt-E stands for alternative energy, so solar is still the thing, but this location is clearly very much in "work in progress" status at this time. Customer Service woman in the small store was very helpful. We left with some new information about hempline construction and we picked up some practical and some gift items. She also gave us the name of the good straw bale construction contact. When I asked about the Yelp check-in deal for the free copy of the Source Book, she knew nothing about the check-in deal. She said the store we were in was a Solar Living Institute store, but she kindly called down to the Real Goods "store," which was a warehouse. Things were in flux in early September, 2019. Nice fellow at the warehouse was able to secure a copy of the book for me, but it was a little awkward. Meanwhile, up the hill there's a dispensary now. Everyone in the store is always super helpful, the store is very clean and there are always interesting bargains to be had.

One company's rep was a young man on a cell phone on vacation. Another company's rep could not answer questions clearly. Sunrise Solar had Sean Kalember. Sean knows his product. He did the math for my project backwards and forwards and explained to me as much as I was interested in learning. He dealt with the hypothetical questions I asked about return on the investment when the house is sold. He advised me about the size of the system to install and did not upsell. He connected me to electrician Sonoma Sparkies. They did a complex replacement for the circuit breaker box before the solar was done. The communication was seamless among Sunrise Solar, Sparkies, the house tenant, the roofers, and myself. In total Sean and I had about ten informative conversations by phone, scheduled at my convenience. Some of the talks were urgent as we were dealing with contractor deadlines. After the install he walked me through getting the agreement with PG&E signed. After that, he took time online with me to show me the app that tells about the electricity generated in real time.

The original solar systems were installed years ago by SolarCraft and Ambrose. When it came time to add a backup battery in Napa, we chose SonoMarin first. That project went so smoothly that we later asked them to install a battery on our older, more complex Marin system as well. Despite the added complexity, they handled both installations efficiently and got everything up and running without drama. Ayelet in the office deserves special mention. She provides near-instant responses to texts and emails, keeps everything moving, and somehow manages to coordinate all the moving parts with ease. If you've ever dealt with solar projects, you know how valuable that is. She had seemingly infinite patience for my never-ending questions, handling them with professionalism and speed. She also helped me apply for relevant rebates and helped interface with the nightmare that is PG&E, making it all look easy. The whole team jumped through hoops to get the system in before the tax break expired. SonoMarin is a small company, localled owned and run by the same people I originally worked with at SolarCraft on our first install years ago, which really shows in the level of care and accountability. Avner and Nick have built a great company. Pricing was competitive--frankly, all three bids we received were in the same range--but the execution and communication set them apart. I would recommend SonoMarin without hesitation.
