There are certain categories of people that Davison doesn't want as customers. If you are one of these, your opinion doesn't matter. And he thinks that if your opinion doesn't matter to him, it won't matter to anyone else, either. He has no regard for members of his own community and doesn't mind kicking you to the curb. Davison is probably looking for something, but it definitely isn't customers. Anyone as careless with their reputation as Davison is, will be careless about their work, too. A person with no integrity does not care about the integrity of his work. That is a foregone conclusion. Your opinion about his work doesn't matter beforehand, and it won't matter after the fact, either. If he does a crap job, he'll blame you for that, too.
