I would give zero stars if that were an option…read more BrightView Sayville failed my aunt at every possible level--medically, ethically, and humanly. After developing a UTI that went untreated, the physician covering BrightView prescribed the wrong antibiotic. This catastrophic error snowballed into two separate week-long hospitalizations for sepsis, ultimately becoming the driving force behind her transition to hospice care. Once Wilson Hospice became involved at BrightView, the situation somehow worsened. Staff withheld prescribed agitation medications, left her sitting in her own filth, and repeatedly allowed her to attempt to climb out of bed despite being a high fall risk. Their response time was so poor that my family felt forced to place cameras in her room so I could monitor her care from home. There were multiple occasions when I had to drop everything and drive to the facility myself to calm her agitation and physically prevent her from falling--because staff either could not or would not respond appropriately. Even hospice staff struggled constantly with BrightView employees, who argued and resisted adequate symptom management despite medical orders. Ultimately, we had no choice but to remove her from BrightView entirely and place her in hospice respite care elsewhere. Only then was she properly medicated and treated with dignity. She passed peacefully, something BrightView had made impossible. The indignity did not end with her death. After her passing--while we were still paying for her room--I spent hours packing her belongings myself. Despite this, BrightView staff removed her clothing, Christmas decorations, and personal items without permission, claiming they were "laundering" them and planned to redistribute them to other residents, without consulting me or my family. This is especially egregious given that for months prior, we had to fight relentlessly just to get her laundry done at all. This facility showed a consistent pattern of negligence, poor medical oversight, lack of compassion, and shocking disrespect for both residents and families. No one deserves to be treated this way in their final days. I would not allow my worst enemy to live at this facility.

This is not a case of "you get what you pay for"! Pretty much the only thing you get is to live in the building and the same meals on rotation. Don't expect to get medical help or attention within minutes it takes upwards of an hour for someone to respond to your call for help. Sometimes more than 1 hour. The sales team was very skillful in convincing families to move their loved ones in and quickly too, with the promise of nurses around the clock. That's a joke, they barely have nurses per shift. Forget about finding help after 11pm. Nice aesthetics but horribly run, more like Fright view .

They, of course, were obligated to take he to the nearest hospital but promised me the hospital was better than it's reputation. I had to just hope for the best at that point. From the minute I arrived I was impressed. The attention and genuine care I felt from every member of the staff was unprecedented. I needed emergency surgery the next day so I was admitted. My room was clean and the nurses were fantastic. Concerned as to who would be preforming my surgery I googled the doctor's name. 5 out of 5 stars on WebMD?! Yes please! I was so relieved! The surgery went well and the care I received the next few days before I was released continued fo be above standard. I can't say anything bad about this hospital. They are on their way to changing their reputation to something wonderful.

I worked there just a few months, and witnessed very substandard care, particularly in doctors who did not meet basic standards of care. Administrators did not seem to be aware of legalities of care.. I reported them for Medicare fraud and left. For whatever reason, scheduling continues to be an issue with this company. I find myself repeatedly ringing to inquire if (I mean that, IF) someone has been identified to come help my Dad when the the assigned aide cannot come. There are peculiar communication protocols in place. Here's an example that will leave you scratching your head. We were switched to a new aide when the heavy phone user left. My Dad had two appointments scheduled months back at the VA. Realizing the new aide's schedule conflicted with my father's appointments I rang Utopia. I rang Utopia after speaking to the aide. She said I needed to ring Utopia. Fine. I speak to the coordinator at Utopia and I'm told: - Cancel the 2nd appointment of the day (The aide probably won't be able to do such a long day.) - Once I cancel the appointment, schedule the disabled bus service - Once the bus appointment is made call Utopia - Utopia will ask the aide if she can accompany Dad to his appointment - As the trip will go over the daily allotted time the extra hours will be subtracted from Dad's weekly eight hours Yeah, so I do all that. More than a week passes. But I follow their guidance. Utopia finally speaks to the aide. (AFTER I CALL THEM TO REMIND THEM.) The aide has a family and could never conceivably work those hours. Can Utopia find a fill-in aide to come a different day of the week? NO. So I find myself on Friday after Thanksgiving ringing Utopia. The coordinator had agreed to call "close of business" Tuesday to advise who would be coming Wednesday or Friday. It's Friday a little after 1pm. There isn't anyone on the schedule. I've been promised by the person answering the phone the primary coordinator will ring to 'resolve this'. But as I said to Utopia, it shouldn't be my responsibility to keep track of scheduling. What if I wasn't able to ring? What if it was just my father? I honestly don't think anyone would show. They are somewhat disorganized as a company. The phone using aide used to gripe about them alllll the time. I can see why now.
