The toddler section was very nice and safe. The canopy on a portion of it to shield from the sun. The slides seemed appropriate as far as safety. I liked the squishy type ground for this play area. Its a welcomed change from rocks or wood chips. The fencing around the playground is also nice. And more then one park bench inside the fence was appreciated.

What a beautiful park!…read more During a quick trip to Iowa we kept our activities limited to outdoor activities and carry out eats. I pulled up the Yelp app to find a park to explore and voila, there was Vander Veer Botanical Park. It was a toasty 93 degree day so we were quickly drawn to the plentiful shaded spaces found throughout this large park. In addition to a botanical garden (which we didn't visit specifically), they also have a rose garden, small pond with a fountain, long shaded promenade, and plentiful paved paths for walking. We strolled through the rose garden and then were naturally drawn to the long shaded walkway that leads up to a large and entertaining fountain at the end. This park has so many lovely uses for varying audiences and interests. Highly recommend giving it a visit if you find yourself in the Quad Cities!

We we're thrilled by the reasonable entrance prices and felt the quality of the experience far outweighed the modest fee. It's Christmas time, so the lobby was decked out with a monster model train set amid a wintery scene of snowy fields and skaters surrounding twinkle lights and ornaments. Also at the entrance were charming vintage animatronic characters, such as owls, deer, bunnies, etc set in a wintery holiday scene. The main event is a huge room divided into different experiences designed for kids. Standouts included a model farm, where you can "harvest" food and then send it on its way to a model grocery store, where kids can shop for the fruits and vegetables. My son adored the fire engine, as well as the bridges. He loved the treehouse and the "big" floor piano. There were other exhibits that were a bit too old for him, but older kids seemed to be really digging it. In the main lobby there are Lego tables, and hand sanitizer stations throughout to keep the kiddie germies at bay. Very impressive experience - i absolutely recommend it as a way to engage kids in fun activities in a stimulating environment.
