Baylor University is a very nice campus to visit. The Mayborn Museum and Texas Sports Hall of Fame…read moreare located here. One of the few campuses where located next to a river while McLane Stadium makes this campus stand out while driving on I-35. After our visit of the Mayborn Museum we ventured off to find the bear pen. After following directions we found it and parked in front. Here we saw Joy & Lady relaxing in the Bill & Eva Williams Bear Habitat. One was sleeping but the other walked around and drank water. They originated from Oregon and are medium sized brown bears. There are signs to not bring pets here. From here you can walk to campus centerpiece Rosenbalm Fountain and circle around to enjoy his beautiful campus. Back at bear habitat you can walk along Waco Creek below. Before leaving made sure to see and take photos of Pat Neff Hall with its magnificent colonial architecture.

I eventually found a job in Dallas, TX but the degree and thousands of dollars spent has not helped me in any way and probably hindered me due to Corrupt Social Circles and Illegal Drugs, fake jobs, scammers, blacklisting and Illegal Employers in the USA, except for the ones who hired me. A degree from Baylor has left me with no retirement and no friends in the South and no jobs exept cleaning jobs which do not require a college degree on any special skills. I did not gain the skills necessary to obtain or keep a job in the USA Workforce and high school kids get paid more than me. B.B.A. 1990. Hankhammer School of Business. Hopefully this gouge saves others from potential headaches. The flight school program at TSTC Waco…read moreis complete garbage, stay as far away as possible. Everything they do, both ground/flight is a massive exercise in over-promising and catastrophically under-delivering. I'm nearing the end of the program there and it's been a nightmare from top to bottom and start to finish - I'd never have stuck with it if it weren't for my family situation requiring me to stay in Waco. Their flight courses almost always take everyone exponentially longer than planned (which means more money), the scheduling is often disastrous, the planes are junk, the CFIs are mostly clueless and incompetent little tyrants who hate teaching and aren't any good at it, the CFI/student ratio is poor, the program admin/policies/practices are largely laughable, the department head is an abject idiot with zero legit qualifications/capabilities for the job, the attrition rate is massive... I could go on. Also if you're a veteran like me, getting your GI Bill to coordinate and fund everything properly also doesn't work well, plus the fact that the program takes 99% of students way longer than promised means that you'll burn far more of your allotment than it should take (and you'll get much less value from it). The entire student experience is just miserable, and the staff couldn't care less about this fact. I got an additional rating outside of TSTC, going with a Part 61 who actually gives a damn about good teaching (Waco Flight Training with Aaron Dabney - highly recommend him), and the difference is absolutely night vs day. That comparison really opened my eyes to just how terrible TSTC is. Literally the only two positives I can think of are: 1. if you manage to weather the avalanche of nonstop BS, you get 250 hours knocked off of ATP requirements, and 2. the school's physical building is reasonably nice. That's genuinely the entire "pro" list. The "con" list includes absolutely everything else. This doesn't only represent my personal experience either, I'm not an outlier - I've spoken with plenty of other current/former TSTC students and CFIs from recent years, and the reports are extremely consistent. My bad experience there is very much the norm, not an exception. Unless they suddenly get vastly better new management and completely overhaul/rebuild the program, which doesn't appear likely anytime soon, avoid this Part 141 program like the plague.

Amazing...simply awesome! Been wanting to visit for quite some time and only now was able to do…read moreso. After walking around for about half an hour, I was informed about a tour starting at 10 a.m. Of course I couldn't pass that up. Rachel, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her passion for the library and the Brownings showed through the information she gave. Lots of positive energy! In addition to the collection and ambiance/architecture of the library, the grounds are worth checking out. I will have to come visit again in order to really soak in all that the place has to offer. Please don't wait as long as I have to visit.

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." OK-I'm not…read morereally going to count the ways I love the library, but I figured most people would recognize that quote. It's not Shakespeare; it's Elizabeth Barrett Browning. This library/museum includes a wide array of artwork, personal effects, and manuscripts by Robert Browning and his wife Elizabeth. If you're a scholar of Victorian poetry, researching here would be a dream come true. Even if you're not a fan of Victorian poetry, the Armstrong Browning Library is worth a visit. The beautiful building, which frequently hosts weddings and special events, contains the largest collection of secular stained glass in the world. You might also enjoy the unique and fascinating architectural details throughout the interior of the building. If pottery or porcelain is your thing, check out the Wedgwood and pottery collections, too. Upstairs, the curators have recreated the Browning's home, complete with their authentic furniture and decor. If you ever wondered about life in the mid-1800s, this could give you a pretty accurate picture of it. Admission is free, so check this place out next time you're in the heart of Texas!
