They've re-roofed my house twice, and stood behind the work. No complaints. When I asked if they can do maintenance on my barn for a few squares of sheet metal that blew off, they said they could do I asked for an estimate. What I ended up with was a 90k estimate to re-roof my barn. Not what I asked for, and kind of bummed after two new roofs with them, they couldn't do some basic maintenance. read more

After the big hail storm last year I contracted them in June/July for the work. It didn't get completed until November and I had to constantly contact them for updates on the status of my project. They also asked multiple times for payment before the work was complete. Upon completion they left scraps of siding in my yard. I contacted them again due to the recent high winds regarding siding that had come off and I thought would be covered under warranty. It wasn't but I asked them to give me an estimate of the work since they were there and I never got it. Even after I was told by the rep. and the sales manager my request was being made a priority. After telling the manager how I was disappointed he said he would give me a call that day and get something worked out. I never heard from him. The last contact I had was to them two weeks later to let them know they lost my business. read more

Had a small leak from gutter spout sw corner of my home. Called the so called pros to fix it. $700 later and 5 different guys repairing problem and still still leaking. 10/24/21 rain plus new driveway leaking gutter sw corner of home. 10/25/21 9am Called back to Mc Kinnis spoke to a manager Dave or David and he's like what do you want us to do. Explained situation and he's like well we can send 2 more guys out! That would make 7 different guys from management to fix a spout Really okay. Called Omaha Gutter they are out here now fixing issue. ** I would not recommend this place** I even viewed reviews before I chose a company and man was I wrong for picking this place! This has been horrible. We had McKinnis Roofing out to do work a few years ago and they seemed ok then. My how the mighty have fallen. I'm going to cut them a break and not tell everyone all the details of incompetence; but suffice to say they have wasted 6 MONTHS OF OUR TIME AND WE ARE STILL AT SQUARE ZERO ON INSURANCE REPAIRS- THANKS TO THEM. Why did they even waste time coming out to go over things with the insurance company??? Oh....and yes..now winter is next and we have a damaged roof and gutters that are going to pour water right into our basement, because we trusted them to be timely and responsive. We have had the insurance money for months, but no call backs or comebacks no matter what we do or how many times we call them back. I even drove to their office with the entire claim printed out and asked them to call us so we could get a contract rolling.....and nothing! It's asinine. I guess they don't need roughly 40k in business. What a joke, I'll never call them again & I suggest you don't waste your time on them either. Reading all the most recent reviews, they have really gone to hell in a hand basket, so I am not the only one. If they somehow crap out a miracle and show me they deserve a re-think (as could be demonstrated by APOLOGETIC ACTION AND TIMELINESS ON THEIR PART), I will give them a different accurate review-----but I'm not holding my breath. read more

Don't sign a contract with them. You will be locked into low bid contractors and have little control over the timing and implementation of the projects. You are much better off dealing with individual contractors yourself. read more

In July of 2008, we paid McKinnis Roofing over $12,000 to replace our roof. We took the highest estimate because they had been highly recommended and agreed to do things such as roof vents and bathroom vents. Before this we had had minor seepage, but not major leaks. We pointed out our existing problems and accepted all of his recommendations. We now have more and bigger leaks and had to do extensive repairs to a cathedral ceiling as a result of the flashings around the chimney being left out. They had to be called back to install the smart vents they had forgotten and the bathroom vents which in the contract were not done at all. We now are experiencing more leaks in new places that formerly did not even have seepage. In the early stages of the problems, the person in charge of the project did not return phone calls as he was out of the country and/or had health issues, which we were willing to understand, but was never explained to us. Most of the problems, we feel, are the result of the job being sub-contracted out to another roofer. This is not what we thought we were paying for, nor was it in the contract. We expected the work to be done by McKinnis because we had heard very positive things about them. We are just disappointed that having spent a large amount of money for a roof, it is worse than when we started. read more

Okay we posted a review on Google that was removed, lets see if this one disappears as well. We had McKinnis do our roof, siding and gutters after the June 2014 hail storm in Blair. I choose them because of the great service I had received before when using their crews not sub contractors, in 2013 they put in 2 skylights & did some siding repairs, great job - however NOT the case on this job...The management of this job was deplorable from the start. Wrong products, no management, over priced, no cons cession for using sub contractors, nickeled and dimed our insurance provider to insure an increased profit. The workers showed NO respect for our property, cooking their lunch in microwaves, throwing skylights with glass off our roof, not managing the workers, nor the clean up, which they were paid to do. No refund or adjustment was offered for our time. We have had over 80,000.00 worth of work done on this property and McKinnis is the only company we had issues with. We have spent hours, picking up nails and glass. Workers cut our drywall installing the exact same skylights replaced 1 year ago by the same company with them being put in place exactly as they were no damage. If you are interested in hiring a company that will overcharge you, do an okay job, drive over your lawn, throw skylights off your roof onto your client drive and leave stuff this is the company for you. The work itself was okay, certainly not excellent as siding was not done in full pieces, but overall not bad, but others will do it better for less while employing workers that are provided fair pay & benefits. I am hiring another company to inspect as I have no faith in the completeness of this job. Said, after a 9600.00 deductible I get to spend another 400.00 having their work checked. read more

I must warn you about my experience working with McKinnis Inc on an insurance roofing job. I assigned them the job on June 1, 2018, but the nightmare is not even close to being over. They did work without authorization from State Farm and placed a lien on my property for $23,000 above what was authorized. Currently they will not cooperate with US Bank and State Farm to finish the job even though it prevents them from getting paid and me from selling my house. The buyers from Elkhorn have been forced to relocate to temporary housing for months now waiting for McKinnis to finish and remove its lien. read more

Salesman changed what promised and then said "you have been pushy". Then Sales Manager did good job of business recovery but did not follow through as promised. Never was put on schedule for over a month. Had to cancel contract. read more

After the storms that hit, I can understand how overwhelmed this business got. However, we contracted them to do our siding after we had damage to our old "Masonite" siding after the storm and dealing with our insurance company. They began work around mid-August. The "first" crew that came out just started siding over the old siding, which they were supposed to do a complete tear off first. Then they sent a "second" crew out who did the complete tear off and completed our siding in about 2 days. They were very nice and good, however, they took an entire role that was ours of this plastic sheeting we were going to use under our deck to prevent weeds from coming up. This was placed in our rock garden and they took it. They backed into a set of our bushes that stand about as tall as me, approx 66", and took a set out. We had asked them to not take our old gutters and they did. We had a lot of trash and nails that were in our yard after they left and then we started seeing all the things that needed to be fixed. Now I wasn't overly concerned, at first, about the things that needed to be fixed because I figured we would just tell our contact from McKinnis and he would get it taken care of. The gutter crew came out and put our new gutters up about a week later, they were also contracted through McKinnis, and they completely scratched all the trim up while doing the gutters. We are now into November, we have had "several" people come out, make notes of the things that need fixed, make promises to show up on a certain date and then never show up. I am not exaggerating when I say there has been 4 different people who have come out to make notes, it's ridiculous. The owner or store manager has even come out. We are still waiting for all the fixes to be fixed and in the mean time they have sent us a bill. Well, I have been patient enough, this should not be taking this long to finish our house. It's not a huge house by any means, approx 1900 sf ranch home. My husband and I are fed up with this and think they should be taking some money off.......we shall see, but first they need to fix the problems!!!! read more
