Mike McGowan is a miracle worker in my opinion. He is very efficient in that his sessions are short but pinpointed to your exact needs. For your first visit, he will take x-rays to see how he can help you. Then he uses a table that I believe is called a "drop table" or "Thompson table" to manipulate your spine.
His costs are very inexpensive. My first appointment with x-rays and adjustment was less than $50. My current treatments cost $26 per session. Prices may vary to your particular needs but he does not go through insurance companies which allows him to set a lower price for his services.
As far as how a typical session will go, he will talk to you. He asks what's going on, he'll take a look at your posture, etc. Then, he'll explain what he's going to do and why. Especially for your first time, he will tell you exactly how the table works, sounds you will hear, and how to take care of yourself after the session.
The table was a different concept for me but here's how it works. You lie down on the table and the table has sections that "drop down". Mike will apply quick pressure at the same time the section drops. The sound of the table is a little scary at first but he warns you. The key is to breathe and relax. If you do a little research on these procedures, you'll see that the table allows for a less intense chiropractic session for both the patient and the doctor.
Then he places you on a "Spinal Stabilizer" table. The idea behind this is that after an adjustment, you should relax and allow the work he just did to "settle" a bit. The table has a roller that rolls up and down your spine for a few minutes while you relax and listen to some very calming music.
The work he has done for me has been priceless. I know it's not the same for everyone, however, for me, each time I leave there I feel better. I recently hurt my hip and started to limp, my posture began to change...so I went to see Mike. He knew exactly what to do and after one visit, I was feeling so much better. For situations like this, though, he may want to see you once a week for a few weeks. I trust him implicitly. He is definitely not one of those doctors that have you keep coming in just to get your money. I've found him to be knowledgeable, honest and trustworthy.
One more wonderful thing about him is that he has a heart for those who serve or have served in the military, law enforcement, and other first responders. Thank you, Mike! read more
