The previous visit I was getting cavities filled and they had a really hard time getting my bottom numb, I could tell chad was getting frustrated but it's really out of my control. One of the hygienist finnally got it to a point where I wasn't in crazy pain. I could still feel pain but it was manageable. I went in this morning for my final round of filings and he did the top tooth with no issues and moved onto the bottom. I immediately felt shooting pain when he started the grinder I made a noise so he would stop. He checked something and then started again without saying anything or giving me another shot. Again I winced in pain and yelled out so he would stop. Instead of an apology or hey let's stop and try to get your bottom numb I was met with extreme frustration and basically suck it up we're almost done. He told me it was too hard to get me numb on the bottom and I shouldn't get any more cavities. After snapping on me and basically calling me a baby he continued to grind into me while I felt everything. At this point I just wanted to get up and leave but I was "almost done". Almost done was another who knows how long but it felt like an eternity. After he was done he asked me if I wanted to get fitted for some bleaching trays and talk about the crown I had brought up like nothing happened. I declined and said I'd just like to leave. He then asked me if I was "pissed at him" to which I finnally lost it and told him instead of making sure I was good he basically called me a bitch, blamed me and just kept going because he didn't want to spend the extra 10 mins to get me numb. I walked out and paid my bill and only then did he come out and say sorry but he still didn't admit to any wrong doing he just said sorry it hurt. They didn't offer to make it right in any way. I waited all day to post this because I figured someone from the office might reach out to me but clearly they don't care. I deal with customers on a daily basis and I would never treat a customer this way. We go to a professional because we trust them to have our best interest in mind and this morning he just wanted to rush me through and get on to the next.

The last time, I asked why he used temporary glue and was told in case he needed to go back in(?) I told him to put the permanent glue in, and it's been fine since. My implanted tooth is much shorter than the other, which is very noticeable, as it's one of my front teeth! Also, I have suspicions about how charges are applied. The Office Manager had already put in a charge for one of my visits, for approximately $300 but the Dentist was sitting at the computer adding the same charge and was told it was already applied. It just seemed odd to me that he has a manager to do the billings, yet feels the need to get in and add things? I do not recommend this office, for the reasons listed.

We have TriCare which requires a Pre-authorization. the staff member was unwilling to submit the online form for an pre-auth and flat out said "I don't do that". I confirmed with insurance pre-auths must be submitted by the referring provider. It is not something a patient can submit-unlike a claim. The employee eventually submitted to a company I don't have and tried to place the blame on me even though they had all of my Medical and Dental insurance information. I also had to explain the difference between a pre-auth and a claim as she kept referring to it as a claim. After 2 months she finally called Tricare but was unable to complete the form because she didn't know the DRG code. I tried to suggest checking with other offices as she did not have the info, but it was impossible to have a conversation as I was constantly interrupted and told numerous times "I don't do that". I confirmed with other local dental offices that pre-auths are submitted as needed by their staff to medical insurances and this is not considered out of ordinary although not frequently needed. So I understand the employee may never have sent one before and had no idea how, but the complete refusal to learn or find out was very disappointing. Again I confirmed this is not an issue with other offices. I requested a call-back to discuss the issue and never received one. Since River Valley does not seem to want to meet the needs of their customers, and I have already spoke with several offices who confirmed they will, we are switching to a different dentist.

Before the appointment I explained by email that I was very anxious which is I'm sure's how I ended up there in the first place (procrastination/fear). I was taken care of so well by the receptionist, the hygienist and the dentist. They even found me a same day oral surgeons office near by so that we could move forward with getting my smile healthy. Everyone was so kind and gentle with both my mouth and my ego. They have a new lifetime client in me and my family. I really can't say enough good things.
