We completed multiple roofing jobs for this company and experienced ongoing delays in payment…read more On 04/17/26, during my third visit to their office to follow up on payment, I met the owner for the first time. The interaction was tense and did not lead to any resolution. That situation did not come out of nowhere. We completed three jobs (two roofs and one repair) and went over two weeks without payment, despite being told a check would be issued. A separate copper roofing project they feature on their Facebook page is now over five weeks from completion and has only been partially paid. When I arrived at the office, another subcontractor was already there regarding payment concerns, including a dispute over a $140/SQ rate for metal roofing, which is unusually low for that type of work in Kentucky. While we were there, a third subcontractor arrived who had also not been paid and was having difficulty communicating due to a language barrier. I offered to help translate and was asked to leave the office. On one of the projects, we raised concerns about materials not meeting proper specifications (specifically drip edge that could potentially lead to leaks) and were instructed to proceed. We documented that communication to protect ourselves. We completed all work as requested, submitted documentation and revised our invoices, removing disputed items and reducing them to the minimum, in an effort to resolve the issue. Despite that, payment remains outstanding nearly three weeks later. Attempts to resolve this have resulted in inconsistent communication and ongoing disputes over charges. For those familiar with prior situations in the Lexington roofing industry, this pattern will likely feel very familiar so if you're considering working with Throughbred Roofing, whether as a subcontractor or homeowner, make sure all terms, pricing, and scope are clearly defined in writing. Do not rely on verbal agreements, consider having any agreement reviewed by a professional, and proceed with extreme caution.

You'll do yourself a big favor to read all of this review. And a much bigger favor to be sure and choose AC for your new TRS! I got quotes from 5 contractors, and AC was far and away The Best! They were the only one to give me in depth materials showing me exactly what TRS I was getting. With synthetic underlayment over the entire roof, starter shingles and drip edge/gutter apron along the edges, hip ridge shingles across the peak, ice and water shield in the valleys, new box roof vents, and new lead plumbing boots, my entire roof's TRS is brand new and ready for any weather! Will and Colin were Fantastic! I couldn't have asked for better or more! They went above and beyond on all matters. Will, the Manager, was my main contact person, and was very knowledgeable, very responsive to my many questions, and very easy to work with. Colin was very helpful and easy to work with too; he even created a support for a spot of my vaulted ceiling with its prior damage to avoid further injury! Their gutter specialist Josh (and his friend) even fixed old issues with my downspouts and dented gutters, and removed an old whiskey rain barrel for me, reinstalling the original downspout. They even rehung a series of zig zag, leaking gutters that wouldn't drain properly over my front door! Will and Colin showed me photos on their large TV in their new showroom off Nandino of other roofs they had done, with various colors, etc., and helped me pick out the best color for my home. Cassa in their office helped me multiple times on the phone and via email, and helped me file my 10 year full, 40 year prorated, warranty with OC. Will had gone through potential upgrades, including a 50 warranty option, etc. And AC gave me a 5 warranty on their workmanship. And to top it off, they gave me far and away the best final price, beating all others by over $1,000! I am so happy I picked them, because there is not a doubt in my mind: They Are Absolutely The BEST! Heh, tell them Tom D sent you. Maybe I'll get some referral checks! And I couldn't be happier to send you to AC. You'll be extremely happy you did.

Earlier this year, our gutters and front awning were damaged in a storm. I'm normally a DIY kind of person, but I've been suffering from a lack of mobility for the past year or so after a back injury, and found that I wasn't going to be able to get around to doing any kind of repair myself. We dreaded the cost, but bit the bullet and reached out to a few local contractors. These guys responded quick, came out quick for the initial assessment and quote, and gave us a reasonable price and timeframe for the work. A few other companies had comparable prices, several were much more expensive, but the professional communication from this team sold us. The job had to be rescheduled, at first, because of weather, and then again due to the unpredictable schedules that come with custom work, but they responded quickly to calls and e-mails, and kept us in the loop. Finally, the big day came, and during the course of setting up to work, they noticed some issues with our house's novel construction, especially with the way our roofers had not left much of an overhang with our drip edge and shingles. At first, we were worried this was going to turn into a much more expensive job, or that we'd have to start shopping around again, but were pleasantly surprised when the owner himself came out to take a look, with one of their more senior employees, who quickly identified a likely solution. Not only are they going forward with the job as soon as possible, but they're honoring their original quote despite the extra work and materials, partially to make up for the initial scheduling delays. A far better experience, so far, than being left in the dark by other companies we've worked with recently, and it's refreshing to have a company honor their own quote without sneaky fees, last-minute upselling, or bait-and-switch tactics even in the face of unforeseen complications. I'm impressed.
