If you want a quiet meal this is not the place for you. Went on a Friday early evening and there…read morewas a birthday party going on which wasn't a problem until "Happy Birthday!" and "Congratulations! " were played at full blast, wish someone had warned us. As far as I was concerned the food was excellent and the staff very friendly and would go again but preferaby in midweek during the school term.

I am a convert to Frankie and Benny's, fo sho. Mostly because Hot Steve really likes it so often…read moresuggests we eat there, and therefore pays. I am aware that the quality of the food is not all that, but to be honest, when you've been shopping your socks off and there's a F&Bs over the way and you don't want to cook yourself but want something to fill you up that's not a McDonalds, with a bit of swing music playing in the background, then you just do it. I preferred this one to our local one in Kirkstall as it felt much brighter and the staff were speedier with taking orders and the like. Also we got seated straight away even though it was busy, meaning the drinks bill wasn't as hefty. I had the 2 course £9.95 menu (stuffed mushroom then philly cheese burger), and it was all right. The mushroom was flatter than a pancake but the goat's cheese on top was good quality and tasty. The burger was meaty and cheesy but I wished I'd ordered one with more salad and pickles and stuff in it - mine was a bit rich. The fries we delicious though - clearly freshly cooked. And the puddings at Frankie and Benny's are always my favourite - I tried the chocolate brownies and they were hot and soft and chocolatey and delish. Three courses and a drink each came to £38 - not the best food I've ever had but I left feeling full up and that was good enough.
