Their beer selection reliably features several conventional Brand beers, but venturing beer geeks will surely find a brew they've never seen in one of the quickly rotating taps. In addition to serving up a variety of local and international beers, Stadsbrouwhuis also brews their own tasteful ales. Though their (very affordable) vegetarian dishes won't fill you up for a night of drinking, their crunchy and thickly sliced French fries do a fine job. We've only seen (rather than tasted) their other food from a distance, but everything looks like a well-made and inspired fusion of styles. As for their snacks: they're on the pricey side but very generous. Finally, the friendly staff is always excited to help you in beer-mergency situations. And in the rare occasion that their descriptions don't trigger your taste buds, you're always welcome to have a free taste. All in all, Stadsbrouwhuis is ideal for adventurous tasting and memorable conversations. The front of the Burger Bar was illuminated in big red bold letters and the giant wedge fries were proudly positioned in the window for customers to salivate over. We pondered the wall menu for a bit then ordered the Classic Burger with fries and a soft drink combo. The chef tossed a big beef patty onto the flat grill and waited at a wooden table out front impatiantly about fifteen minutes. OMG, it was big, juicy and spiced perfectly with bacon and caramelized onions (see pic). The oversized seasoned fries went well with the burger. I didn't enjoy the Umami fries and the accompanying Black Garlic mayo was ok. The beet salad was a surprise as assumed it was more of a yogurt dressing but instead it was more like proper yogurt. This while tasty, didn't really fit into the rest of what I had ordered - I ended up having this as a dessert instead. Drink wise I got a ginger tea which was decent, but the glass I was served in was a bit dirty. Service was great, and the food was served very quickly. We split the bill and individual cost was €21 and change, so very reasonable. Also found out that the menu is prepared by a famous Dutch chef (a la Jamie Oliver) but he doesn't own the restaurant or anything, just changes the menu every 3-4 months.
