It's a guilty pleasure ok!!…read more I used to frequent this place on a far to regular basis as my mate used to work here. Just thinking back to those glory days is making my stomach grumble at the thought of a meatball sub with added pepperoni, extra cheese and chilli/southwest sauce.....ok you the rest, cheap, cheerful, you think its not junk food but it actually is, pretend food. This effort is probably one of the smallest in town, so its best to hit this if your planning on a takeaway and not a sit in, apart from that its all the usual stuff you would expect....must go, hungry...

This is the new guy on the main street. First thing you notice is how spotless the place is on entering. The staff looking busy cleaning or cooking. The choice of pizzas is immense as is indian food. Every pizza ive had has tasted fresh and has been lovely. They dont hold back with the toppings. They boast using fresh ingredients rather than frozen stuff. Their chicken korma is to die for, as is their curry. I take a nan bread rather than rice, and its always heated to perfection. They have a "chippy" section as well, and the food is nice. Although the only let down seem to be the chips themselves. They can be quite mushy and have had them undercooked at one point. Although I was given fresh chips and a refund. The staff are friendly and you can have a joke with them while you are waiting on your meal. I wouldve gave five stars but for their chips. Can get a bit busy at pub kicking out time, but this is to be expected.

Pretty good on most counts, be mindful of the burgers though.read more

Usual things on the menu that you would expect such as Pizza's, burgers, kebab's etc. My personal favourite is a Bonanza burger which is basically a burger topped with kebab meat and sauce and popped in a burger bun. I also like their chips, they are those little thin geasy ones that are oh so appealing after a night on the tiles. Staff are nice enough and shop always looks nice and clean. It can get quite busy on weekends when pubs spill. They also have a selection of curries etc on their menu but I have never had a curry from them. Not to keen on their pizza's though as hate these cheap bought in bases.

Uh oh...they opened a McDonalds right beside Tesco Extra Rutherglen!…read more It's been open for a few months now and today, as I walked along in the heat I decided to pop in and get a McFlurry because well...it's been years since I've had a McFlurry! This is a two storey McDonalds and it has a drive thru (there are 2 lanes going into the drive thru to help keep queues shorter which is a good idea). As you go in, you can either be served at the till or there are self service machines you can use. These allow you to make and pay for your order (pretty sure it's only card but you can use these machines and then take your receipt to the till, then pay in cash...seems like a lot of hassle for nothing). Anyway, either way you choose to pay your receipt displays a number and it is called when your order is ready. As I only ordered a Caramel McFlurry, my wait wasn't that long. The ice cream was amazing, just like Mr Whippy goodness! There were huge chocolate chunks and plenty of caramel sauce. A McFlurry triumph if ever there was one! Staff were nice enough, the usual. Nothing else exciting to report but I hope this weather keeps up so I can justify a few more McFlurry moments!

It is conveniently located to the M77 so you can hop back on the motorway and pretend you were never there. I've found the food is pretty consistent - as good as McDonalds can be. It is open 24 hours BUT be warned: I once bribed a taxi driver to take me here (after our recent subcrawl adventures), even though it was his rule that he didn't do food runs. We arrived, and it was closed! I nearly cried. I was so intent on getting a cheeseburger I visited the next morning and they said there had been a hole in the drive through so they'd had to close! Cruel, cruel McDonalds. If you're going to be really picky about your Maccas, I find the one along in Thorniebank tends to be a bit better than this one in terms of food.

Approaching the worn- but still controversially-bright- blue awning on the face of Wing Lee's tiny…read morerun down corner lot, one can't help but expect classic greasy Chinese takeout. The aesthetic experience doesn't end there. Upon entering, a diner's first impression will inevitably include the small room's centrepiece- a tired bug zapper, on its last legs after fighting a years-long war with so many beasts still adorning its grill. Any competing screams for attention will come from the large, gaudy Deal or No Deal electronic gambling game on another wall, which waiting diners will mindlessly stare at. The woman who took our order was neither pleasant nor unpleasant, I'm not sure we ever made eye contact. The prices were reasonable. The food's preparation time was not impressive, but acceptable. Unpacking the food I was immediately disappointed. I received an onion-lovers serving for my 'no onion' Kung Po chicken chow mein. I'm uncertain I've ever seen more onions in any Chinese food, ever. I covered almost half a plate with the ones I removed. Furthering my disappointment, my Kung Po chicken appeared to be a regular skinless chicken breast in watery brown sauce somewhat resembling the Kung Po taste I know. All this aside my meal was admittedly a little tasty, and I was impressed with the amount of spring rolls received in our appetizer order (and the free shrimp chips/crisps.) What I must rave about is the Szechuan chicken my friend ordered. It was delicious, and unlike any Szechuan dish I've eaten, (if I was a little more confident in my knowledge of Chinese food I would say it's categorically *not* Szechuan style.) It was not a brown sauce, but rather a dry chili seasoning, very similar to the seasoning on orders by the name of 'chili calamari' in various Asian restaurants I've been to in North America. I would think that we were given the wrong order but it was a dish my local friend orders regularly. There were no fortune cookies in our bag. For cheap Chinese takeout: two and a quarter stars.
