This is on one of the busiest roads between Manchester city centre and Manchester Airport. Not the place for fine dining, but if a pit stop is needed between the city centre and the airport with clean toilets and free wifi then it meets that need well. Without doubt the best Indian take away around ! I simply…read morelove this place. The food quality and service is exceptional and the fact that they don't do deliveries in no way detracts from just how busy this place is. My fave is the Tandoori Mixed Grill with a Dopiaza Sauce (you can have any sauce you like). The price of fame of course is that at busy times you may need to be a little patient. The trick is, phone your order in, if they say 20 mins, turn up in 20 mins and you may wait another 5 mins, Trust me, the food is worth any wait. The other alternative is order when you get there and go to the boozer across the road for a swift one ! The sister restaurant next door "Gatley Cuisine" is also well worth a visit. Check out the website/menus and enjoy.
The Gatley takeaway exists in partnership with it's sister restaurant - Gatley Tandoori - next…read moredoor. Both places do have a great reputation and, while they supply reasonable, good quality food, my personal experience is that they are just a little bit average. I think that the reputation stands from a number of years of being a *bit* better than those around - while, especially recently(ish), the target has moved with the opening of new places in Cheadle and others who are providing a more authentic menu rather than the anglicised selections that became popular in the 80's and 90's I'm being a little bit scathing, perhaps, but it's just that I find many of the dishes lack any genuine variety. I have been quite a few times, though, so it's not bad - just not amazing. Portion sizes for the takeaway are huge - those standard takeaway carriers being packed to the brim - and plenty of actual content, it's not all just sauce. I find ordering from the 'exclusive dishes' section tends to yield the most interesting and tasty results - obviously that's just personal. They have also messed up my order on a couple of occasions - so listen carefully when they (rather maniacally) shout what's in your bag. So, worth a go - and still one of the better takeaways in Gatley - but given the various delivery options out there I would say try a few others and looks for the more specialist (e.g. south indian) takeaways and restaurants.

Toilet facilities are also very clean and modern. It is very child friendly - lots of balloons, colouring packs, crayons etc always available for the kids.It has a small enclosed outdoor eating space for sunny days and plenty of room indoors. From a child safety point of view the only issue is that the drive through road actually passes the main entrance door so parents need to be on the ball when taking kids in and out, although there are zebra markings but cars rushing through the drive through don't always take notice of these. Going in on a Sunday night 7pm the telephone was constantly ringing and to me that is a good sign assuming they are all customers. First off all I can say is that the portion sizes are really good for the price ! My order ( I'd try to throw a few curve balls in there for my first trip ) Chicken Tikka Kharai - cooked very well and really nice to actually see and taste real flavour and spices in there - a moderate heat but nothing dangerously hot Mushroom Pilau Rice - boiled basmati rice with fried onions and sautéed mushroom slices - was tasty but mushrooms very slimy and greasy but taste was good ! The rice had a yellow colouring in ! Vegetable mixed starter - despite the name came with a samosa, two small onion bhajis and two pieces of wait for it chicken tikka - I a veg mixer starter - but it is listed in the menu with meat so at least vegetarians would know ! Also ordered was an off menu item of chips with a smothering of korma sauce instead of just a 'curry' sauce - korma sauce was nice and chips nice and crispy outer with fluffy inner despite being frozen before my order ! Also ordered was a child's meal of lamb curry and chips again nice chips and lamb sauce was delicious - it looked and tasted as if it was from the Main curry stock ! And easy to fill you for a quick light tea at £3.00 !! And that was with the chips ! We also got some poppadoms and chutneys etc thrown in For free . I would happily go back and work through the menu and it would take me a while it's pretty big ! Not five stars as when all tin foil containers were opened there was a lot of standing oil on the top so it was soaked up with tissues before serving ! Plus side 10% off for the following Fire and rescue / Ambulance / NHS / Police or Taxi drivers ! Next for me is fish tikka balti !!
