I can only think that the restaurant is named to avoid copyright issues from the Laurel and Hardy estate. The restaurant was pretty full but we still managed to get a table. The staff and management are extremely friendly and helpful and very open and it was clear that they cared about the service they gave. The menu was reasonably priced and many of the dishes also themed from the comedy duo. Our party of four ordered a burger with nothing on (A Lonesome Pine), a rack of ribs in a delicious barbecue sauce (Another Fine Mess), a sirloin steak and a spicy chicken breast meal. Starters were shared and were a bowl of Nachos and two generously loaded potato skins with cheese and bacon. The starters arrived and were hot and delicious, and most of all, generous portions. Conversation was possible but sometimes the music got a little loud so raising voices were in order. I had overseen a few main courses arrive at other tables and it was very clear that the one thing these plates had in common were generosity in spades. One lady's jacket potato seemed to be the size of a marrow! Our own dishes were also no disappointment. The ribs I ordered practically filled the length of a large oval plate with fries heaped against the side to hold it on. The steak was done perfectly to order, the burger was delicious and clearly hand made and the chicken was well sauced, spicy and wonderful. However while the sizes of the dishes were daunting, we soldiered on regardless. We were looked after extremely well and the management were much in evidence front of house, meeting, greeting and talking to customers but not in an intrusive overbearing way. The atmosphere was very friendly and conducive to both meals with loved ones as well as a night out with friends. Desserts, like the starters, had to be shared after the size of the main course and our young waitress duly informed us that the chocolate fudge cake portion was a little on the large size. It wasn't an understatement. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a team making base camp for the assault on its peak! The Chocolate Brownie Sundae had, rather unusually, popcorn as part of the deal which managed to make the brownie taste like peanut butter when eaten in combination. All in all a really pleasant night out in a good atmosphere with good honest simple food cooked well. I can say that I will defiinitely return and am interested to see what their Sunday roasts are like too. If you are in the Bromley Common area this is more than well worth a look

My boyfriend found this burger restaurant on another review site which said 'the best burger shop…read morein London' or something like that and we decided to go to Lewisham just for the burger! I have to admit that it's the best burger I've ever had in London!! I ordered Rox melted burger because I was tempted by grilled onions and melted cheese! Awww, so tasty! I was very satisfied with all of the fresh ingredients and the fantastic combination of onions, cheese, angus beef, bacon and a brioche bun! Also I enjoyed a bite of the Rox Blue Burger that my boyfriend ordered! Can you believe that you can enjoy both mozzarella cheese and blue cheese at once? Although the Rox chips were also delicious, we just couldn't stop eating the burgers. The burger was quite dense so I couldn't finish it all so I took it back home. Of course eating it at the restaurant is better, but it was still good at home! When we were at the restaurant, some delivery staff brought some fresh fruits and veggies so I felt they use good quality fresh ingredients! The restaurant was small but cosy and I liked the stylish interior! It's a family-friendly restaurant but great for anyone! Oh, I shouldn't forget to mention that the glass for the tap water was an American style jar with lime! The overall price was also fantastic, I highly recommend a visit to this quaint American burger bar!

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place. I ordered the Chorizo burger and they cooked…read morethe party exactly how I wanted it. The bun was well toasted, the cheese didn't over power the flavor of the burger patty, and the chorizo was a nice touch. They use a different type of chorizo than in the states so it was a nice change to the norm. Along side it I ordered the Rox fries, but honesty I wasn't impressed. Basically it was fries sprinkled lightly with some herbs and some cheese, nothing special. One complaint is that they messed up the other half of my order. Ordering for a friend who is deathly allergic to cheese, I asked for no cheese. The guy taking my order, before putting it in read off to me my order and specifically said the cheese is omitted, it evens says on the receipt. On this particular night I picked up the burgers for take away so when I brought it back to the house we noticed there was cheese! However they refunded it in the end, just make sure if you're making modifications to check a couple of times.

I've been on a burger quest (must remember to make a list) lately and I've got several more to try…read morethanks to Anna's thread. Mother Flipper was suggested as something approximating a US burger and since it's only 4 miles from my house I thought I'd give it a go one fine Saturday morning. Yes that's right, I had a burger for breakfast. And it was good. The boys behind Mother Flipper set up shop at Brockley Market (the logo is a broccoli floret surprise surprise) and they seem to have built a following. From the facebook page, I noted that waits can be up to an hour (the grill is fairly small so I believe it) and in order to avoid it I endeavored to be there at 10am when they opened. I got there at 10.01 and was already the 2nd in line. Go figure. The signature burger is the double bacon candy cheeseburger. What is bacon candy you say? Well you take some proper streaky bacon and caramelize in brown sugar. The meat patties are handmade and about a quarter inch thick but you get two of them so it's a hefty burger. The buns are soft and potentially brioche but it was hard to stop eating to tell. I did manage to get a couple of pictures but that's all I could wait for. The meat is tender and juicy although slightly over done for my tastes. I think maybe it was left on just a bit too long while they prepped the burger (they weren't quite set up by the time I was there and ordering). The sauce they put on was tomato based but when mixed with the sweetness of the candy bacon turned into a honey bbq type which was delicious. No complaints on the cheese although it's just basic cheddar me thinks. Be warned, take lots of paper towel as it's a messy burger. You will get it all over your hands and face without a doubt. Is it as good as the fabled burgers of Texas and the Midwest? Sadly no, but damn if it doesn't do a great job trying. I would love to see some chips being served too and a few cold drinks as the market is distinctly lacking in anything but coffee. But overall, one of the best burgers I've had in London to date. And that's saying something.

Love Mother Flipper!…read more I get it when they're at Kerb and it's one of my favourite burgers. They spend the time to make sure the ketchup and mustard are across the entire bun, and the lettuce and onions are cut small/thin enough to eat easily. The meat is a good mix, not too dense or too crumbly, and most importantly for me, not too strong. I find Patty & Bun, for example, has a gamey taste to their beef that just isn't something I enjoy. And then there's the crowning glory - candied bacon. Oh my days. I'd get a whole candied bacon sandwich if they let me. At £7 for not the biggest burger, it's a bit on the high side, but for the very occasional treat it is for me, I'm happy to pay it.

We considered a few places before deciding on Branded--and I'm so glad we did. We arrived a bit early, so the restaurant was still quiet. Inside, it's surprisingly spacious yet manages to feel warm and intimate. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed. Given Branded's reputation for great beef, it only seemed right to order both a hamburger and a steak. We began with the rock shrimp tempura, beautifully crisp and light, followed by a Caesar salad that was fresh, generous, and ideal for sharing. The burger was outstanding--two juicy patties layered with bacon, Jack cheese, and truffle mayo, cooked to perfection. My rib-eye steak with peppercorn sauce and frites could easily hold its own in a Parisian bistro: tender, flavorful, and expertly seasoned. If you're planning a visit to Knole, skip the café there and head to Branded instead. It's the kind of meal that turns a good outing into a memorable day.

However, they do have quite a few other things to offer. There were several fish dishes and even a couple of vegetarian offerings. This was supposed to be a quick lunch for three girls, and of course we lived up to the stereotype and had the skinny burgers (no bun or cheese) and shared the fries. Even so, I was pretty full for several hours afterwards. The burger was nice, not the most perfect piece of hamburger meat ever, but ok. The fries (fat chips) were actually delicious. The thing that really let it down was the salad - very nice fresh leaves doused in some sort of sweet and citrus dressing that jarred with the whole plate. Pity, as I needed something to eat with the burger! The service was lovely - very attentive and friendly. The place itself is a little cold - lots of leather, cow hide lampshades and bar stools, but the bench seating that I sat on was hard, cold wood - much better to have leather seats throughout I think. Overall it was perfectly pleasant, but there was nothing to make me go rushing back.

So if there's more than three of you going for something to eat or a simple drink and waiting to be welcomed in there isn't enough room to wait. When my family and I went there on Saturday night to celebrate a 60th birthday, we entered and a waitress just looked at us and ignored us. It wasn't until I asked that we had a table booked they paid attention to me. We were lead to our table given menu's, and were told what was available on the menu which was hardly anything and was made awkward for a member of my family being vegetarian but managed to get something. The tables were damaged and not very comfortable to sit at. When they took our drink order I asked for a bottle of the house red and we received a bottle of very expensive low alcohol bottle which when looking at the drinks menu wasn't the house wine. The food is way over priced, badly cooked. It was hard to get the waitresses attention for more drinks and didn't even come over once to ask if we were happy with our meal. We won't go back and we wouldn't recommend that place to anyone.

Firstly, me and my had to wait 45 minutes for my meal, despite having booked a reservation at 18:30, the waitress serving my table did not ask for our meals until 7:15. The table was also not supplied with a drinks menu either, which I found to be particularly irritating. Secondly, the restraunt was packed out. I'm totally confident when I say that there was NOT 2 metre social distancing being observed, as we were sat too close for comfort to the next diners. Not only that, nobody was wearing any protective equipment such as face masks when entering the restraunt, and the staff did not have visors. Anyone who had an immunodeficiency or was immuno-compromised in that restraunt could've caught coronavirus and died, and it would be on the malpractice of the Rose & Crown at Dunton Green. And after the diners next to us left, the staff did not sanitize or clean the table before the next people arrived to sit down. I'm certain that this was also the case with our table, as it did not appear to have been cleaned. Other restraunt diners were allowed to smoke in close proximity to the door to the restraunt, which is we did not appreciate, as one of our party has health problems relating to the lungs. The doors were not closed properly, and people were allowed to exit via the door marked entrance. Overall, the food was mediocre at best, the service from the staff was poor, and the level of hygiene was lacking. I would not eat here again, and I will be warning all other members of the Sevenoaks Town Golf Club to not be eating here again.

Great interior, super friendly and brilliant service from waitress, comfy seats, lovely chips with skin on and every condiment that you need for a burger. However.... the burgers are such an integral part of the experience (well duh!) that it only gets two stars in my eyes. The chef just doesn't know how to cook them. They recommend medium. I asked for mine to be medium - it came out medium. So far, so good. (It was a bit gristly, and not the best meat, but I ate it, so how bad could it be?) However, my sister asked for hers to be medium-rare, just a little pinker than medium. When it arrived, it was raw with the edges kissed by the grill, so it was also cold in the middle, and bacteria-friendly warm towards the edge, so completely inedible and possibly dangerous. Fine, we thought - we'll just get another one, and the waitress was fantastic - really sympathetic and apologetic. We were happy, it happens... but 30 minutes later, a very well done, dried out burger was brought back after the chef had quite publicly disputed the sending back of the first one and made some joke at our expense. We gave up, they very kindly took both burgers off the bill (I was prepared to pay for mine, as I had eaten it) and we left. And I'm sorry to say that despite the loveliest waitress in the world doing her absolute best with a terrible chef, we won't be going back. :-(
