Yelpwise, I had to do it. Seeing as I was eating more burgers here than I ever have in the US (or anywhere else, for that matter), it seemed that my Geneva burger expedition simply wouldn't be complete without a visit to the local McDonald's. It should be noted at the outset that I am probably not the best person to be reviewing a McD's anywhere, let alone Geneva. As an adult, I have only been to McD's once in the US, and that visit involved a Happy Meal with Chicken McNuggets. My eyes locked on something called the "NYCrispy Burger." Now, I don't speak French, and had no idea what this burger contained, but if it was New York themed, it had to be good, right? I took my mystery burger encased in a box upstairs. For what it's worth, this McDonald's was clean, and the staff went around wiping the tables and cleaning the floor pretty thoroughly. The McD's looks small from the outside, but the second floor was actually pretty impressive, with plenty of booths and tables. I opened my burger box to find a bun topped with what seemed to be toasted onions. So far so good. The beef patty was really big and hung off of the bun. The bun was surprisingly soft and fresh. There was actually plenty of lettuce on the burger. Plus points. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. The acrid taste and smell that overpowered my mouth on first bite turned out to be bacon, presumably the "crispy" in NYCrispy. Once the bacon was removed, my burger smelled/tasted marginally better. While I don't generally choose to eat bacon, I've never known bacon to actually make something taste WORSE. Minus points. The fries are standard McD's fries, I'm sure. But if there's something that Geneva does well food-wise, it is french fries. I don't care if you're a McDonald's, you'd better up your fry-game here. Minus points. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience, but my bill came out to CHF12.50 for the meal menu. I know it's not McD's fault but rather Geneva's fault, but McD's gets a guilty-by-association verdict for the price. Mad minus points. I ended up eating only half of my burger. That's like $4 in leftovers...from McD's!! ======================================== Connected to but separate from the McD's is a McCafe. I have never had a macaron. I can now say that my first macaron was from a McDonald's. While I have nothing to compare it to, the hype surrounding macarons leads me to believe these were probably pretty bad ones. The raspberry macaron was just edible. The vanilla macraron was sugar creme sandwiched in two small sugar cakes. To top it off, my coffee was burnt and bitter. Again, throw-away leftovers probably came out to about $4. From a McCafe.

Unlike the mushy, doughy breads…read moretypical in Geneva, Greens serves breads with texture and whole grains, nuts, and fruits. Try their muesli rolls. My favorite is the teeny tiny muesli-fruit-nut-roll with cooked pears and brie (5.60 francs). Enjoy their curry chicken, apple, and sprouts on whole grain-nut bread. Tuna with olives is pretty good, too. High quality, open Sundays, and friendly service.

I passed by greens, and the warm quiches were calling my name. I had been eyeing these quiches for several days now, and my mouth was curious to try them. They were not typical Swiss looking quiches, these were baked in puffy crust, and looked full of ingredients vs. egg. They are smaller- about the size of your hand. Needless to say, I stopped and quickly purchased the toasty warm quiche. My taste buds were definitely not disappointed. The quiche was exactly what I was hoping for, not heavy with egg, but light and fluffy. The puffy crust was a great combination. Definitely good. No wonder I see people stopping by every evening and picking these up. There are always very few left. These brought my review up a star. I still have yet to try the yummy looking salads there.
