After dropping off our bags, I decided to go to Burger King since it was really close to the hotel we were staying at. I immediately went to the kiosk and made my purchase of a whopper meal. The prices really reasonable considering I was at an airport and I expected inflated prices. The food was made to order and I received it within 5 minutes despite the growing crowd. The restaurant itself had plenty of seating and the customer service spoke English.

Airport McDonald's seem to get the shaft on yelp, which is annoying for me as I often seek out McDonald's in airports and rely on my yelp app to find places to eat. So now it is on yelp! Guess what, McDonald's lovers, there is one here! My beef with this McDonalds is that the layout is confusing. It at first appeared to my groggy jetlagged self that there was ONLY a McCafe here. I ran up to it excited and then was very perplexed because they appeared to be only serving coffee. BOO! Turns out, I discovered later, that the actual McDonald's restaurant is down the hall. It seems strange to me that the McCafe would be so separate from the restaurant. Usually people who stop at McDonalds for coffee are also looking for some food, right? So they will have to make two stops here? Not convenient for any situation, particularly at an airport where a lot of people are rushed. Two stars for layout and two stars for the fact that it is next door to an another actually reasonably priced and delicious fast food place. That was a surprise to find.

At this part of the terminal, the choices were really limited, especially if you want a hot bfast. So here we were, at McD terminal I, near gate 52! Our orders: - sausage & egg McMuffin + cappuccino: I liked it! - Big morning chicken: pretty good. Hubby rated it 4/5 lol. - 6 pcs mini pancakes: I loved it! Not too crazy with the chocolate sauce it came with, wish I had Nutella instead. - Croissant: surprisingly good! Inside was airy while the outside was crispy. It was served warm too. It's definitely better than the gluten free one I tried not too long ago from a high-end bakery in Beverly Hills haha! I could be wrong as I don't normally eat McD, but iirc US' McD doesn't have the mini pancakes and the croissant on the menu, so it was something new to try. Overall I think this McD is pretty good and highly recommended, especially if you are hungry and will board the aircraft soon and can't stand the airlines food lol

Within the confines of Terminal 1, Hermann's seemed like my best option. I had the rindwurst with sauerkraut and a beer, and it felt like a perfect little Frankfurt experience. The rindwurst had a nice snap to it, and good flavor. This was food I would have been happy to eat even if I wasn't stuck at an airport. I liked it enough that a couple hours later I went back for another, and also tried the surprisingly great potato salad and a serviceable pretzel that in retrospect I could have done without. If I'm at the Frankfurt Airport again, I would definitely get a rindwurst and potato salad. Service was friendly on both visits. The decor was cute and the place was comfortable enough. Prost!
