They've protested, but been ignored, which is outrageous. Original review: Absolutely amazing sides and burgers. This place is really nice, really well decorated, great music and attentive staff. The food was insanely good, bar one minor caveat I'll get to in a minute, and I've quite literally never had anything so good with a burger than their tempura battered courgette chips. Also, we got some sweet potato fries and they were the crispiest, best seasoned sweet potato fries I've ever tasted. The only note I can make against the experience is that the burger, whilst not overcooked in the bun with the relishes etc, the meat was cooked through and would have been perfect had it been a little pinker in the middle. Don't let that put you off, I'll ask next time.

I saw Five guys was here (our first time in Portsmouth), I took my girlfriend to the place (she hasn't been before). The place was just opening and even though there was five minutes until it officially opened. A Jack W. told us to come on in, he served us with a lot of enthusiasm and was all in all a wonderful person. He made our day better, I always recommend five guys because it has some solid fries and shakes, but Jack made it a whole lot better. He served with a smile and you can just tell he is enjoying life, we need more of him in other places! The fries were good as well, my partner said they were pretty high up there. Poor old Portsmouth is having a hard time of it, so we decided to visit my stepson, who attends Uni down there, and take him out for lunch. We walked along Gunwharf Quays, which is cute and a nice centre, but really full of only chain restaurants. Giraffe was the only one we'd never heard of, so we decided to give it a go. The decor inside is really light, clean and interesting. We tried to figure out the vibe of the place, but to be honest, I think it can best be described as "international". There were pictures and drawings of people from across the globe, and the menu was very straightforward, but with twists from several different types of world cuisine. On a Sunday afternoon, it was very busy, but not slammed, and filled with families. We stood by the entrance for a full five minutes before anyone acknowledged us, which was strange, especially with waitstaff walking past us at the rate of 2 per second. Finally we grabbed one, and he sat us down. The service was very friendly, even though I was apparently a bit grumpy to the poor waiter (I was a hungy, hungry hippo), a young man who was prompt and polite when serving us. The food was very straightforward -- brunch until 4pm, burgers and sandwiches, and meat main dishes. This was very much low-key, cafe food (but well cooked and healthy, not greasy). The prices were reasonable, and we really enjoyed the food. We all got burgers, except for the littlest, who got chicken nuggets, so I can't comment on much. The burger was non-greasy and really large, and the fixings were all fresh. The skin-on chips were very tasty. If you're in Portsmouth and don't want to see football, Giraffe should do well to console you in your time of need.

Frankie and Benny's was right by our hotel, so we decided to try it out. It was a big mistake. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and got (quite possibly) the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. I didn't mind the pie was very misshapen. The dough was very hard... almost too hard to bite through. There was no rise to the dough and it had a very salty taste. Clearly, it wasn't made right. Pizza dough only consists of four ingredients and it shouldn't be too difficult to make a decent crust. Overall, the pizza smelled like burnt vinyl. I've had better pizza that has been sitting under a heat lamp all day at a carnival. The only thing worse than having to pay for this experience was actually having to eat as much of it as I did. As a side note, the place was busy with customers, but the overall cleanliness of the dining area left a lot to be desired. Don't say you haven't been warned!
