By default they cook the beef medium, unless you ask otherwise. And for some reason they expect you to have it medium so they won't ask how you'd like your meet cooked! I prefer medium well, it was ever so slightly over cooked, despite the waitress claims. The meet is good, however it needs plenty more seasoning, so the flavour of the burger won't easily wash away! The restaurant is really relaxed, nice hipster ambiance, kind of more of a café feel, so don't worry too much about dressing up!

We ordered The Don, The Bo Peep, chili cheese fries, and plain fries. One nice thing about is that their menu rotates regularly and so these items aren't currently on it. First of course, the burgers. Pic 1 is the Spicy Bo Peep, a lamb burger with halloumi and tzatziki. It was delicious but could have been spicier. Pic 2, The Don, was picked for inclusion of chorizo, nduja mayo, and pickled chili and was very well cooked and tasty. With chorizo, nduja mayo, and pickled chilli I expected it to be sweeter but it was still delicious. The chili cheese fries were great, crispy and soft but very tasty. The only complaint was the very stingy application of cheese, we would definitely have preferred more but the meat and chips were delicious. Plain fries were good. Overall very satisfied and would definitely return.

The restaurant has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and serves up an American-style BBQ menu. Portion sizes are big and the quality of the meat is never in doubt. On this visit I discovered their chicken wings, which have to be the best chicken wings I've had in the UK, and I'm struggling to remember any wings sampled in the U.S. that would beat them! The secret is definitely in the coating - I'm just gutted I didn't discover them sooner! Their southern fried chicken burger is my favourite burger from here, however unfortunately on this occasion they served it with blue cheese on top rather than the regular cheese I asked for. No problem though, they were more than happy to make a fresh burger which was just as delicious as always. The Surf, Bird & Turf Combo and BBQ Ribs are also great choices. My biggest plus about this place though is their fries; the best fries I've ever eaten. Consistently awesome on every visit, beautifully crispy and well-seasoned. Big 5 stars from me as I've had 5 fantastic meals here, and they have Brahma on tap which is a bonus.

The Bella burger was superb, flavoursome and unique, especially for a veggie option, but the Big Kahuna, if there was a competition for two dry patties complemented by even drier pulled pork, this would take the cake in that horrendous category. For that burger to win an overall "best burger" award, there would have to be an absolute joke of an awarding body (besides the fact they're already rewarding burger patties) responsible. Not even an ounce of BBQ involved. No sauce. Nada. Dirty fries were incredibly enjoyable, however.

Based in the middle of Gloucester road, it has a fair bit of competition. In fact, over the last few years there have been quite a few burgers restaurants open in Bristol, but Atomic Burger offer a really different, fun experience. First things first; the restaurant is comic book themed. Everything from the walls, floor, menu and windows is covered in marvel-style comic book pictures. That obviously makes it a great place to take kids, but you'll also find lots of couples, groups and students. It's probably not the best place for a business lunch. Me and my girlfriend went for the first time yesterday and it was great to sit outside and make the most of the sun. We sat on the same table as another couple and got chatting to them. They had been to Atomic Burger MANY times and were on a quest to try every burger on the menu. If you do then you get 20% off for 12 months. Just ask for a sticker after your meal and if you collect them all you get the life discount. The couple both had cocktails that had a bottle of Sol larger upside down in the glass - I didn't care what it was, I wanted one! After ordering "whatever they've got" it turned out to be a 'largerita' which was SO good! The Sol slowly tops up your margarita as you drink - genius! I'm a sucker for a gimmick! The menu is big and actually a little bit confusing. I went with the LLAP: beef burger, pulled chicken, blue cheese sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and spring onion. It was amazing! I had the garlic and chilli fries which were also really good. The best thing for me though, was the beavers jalapeño mustard. Mmmm, beavers jalapeño muuuustard!! A must try if you like spicy food. We left, met some friends at another bar, and then went back to Atomic Burger to show them the largeritas. I'm not sure if I'll eat there enough times to get the 20% life discount, but I'll definitely be back!

The food isn't exactly diet friendly, but who goes to a burger joint for salad? There's absolutely loads of choice so you can pretty much have anything you want on top of your burger, and you have the choice of chicken, beef or veggie. All the burgers are named after famous characters and the menu looks great. There's some crazy drinks on there too - from bacon milkshakes to lageritas (a personal fave!) My boyfriend ordered the hot chicken wings recently. He was warned they were extremely hot but he can handle spice so he went for it anyway! What followed was hilarious! One bite and he was sweating, dizzy, couldn't feel his lips and not feeling so clever anymore. We since found out they are made with three of the hottest chillies on earth! They had over a million Scoville units! They do takeaway if you don't want to sit in (or you've got someone you can send to pick it up and bring it to you in bed with a hangover!) They also do a mean hotdog! I had a hotdog with red onions, American cheese sauce and pulled pork the other day and it was yummy! It's quite a lot of money for what it is (£10ish a burger) but you get a naughty, messy meal that's delicious! I took my 12 year old nephew and he loved it because it's something a bit different! My 30 yr old mates also love it for the same reason.
