I especially like that typically the atmosphere is calm and quiet because I am sensitive to noise. I'm SO happy that one of my mom's friends introduced me to this place, it's one of my favourite local to me places to take people to for a nice outing. It's a coffee house so there is of course, coffee, but also there's many options for non-coffee folks too :D This place has never failed to satisfy the cafe itch I get sometimes, and it's not prohibitively expensive! Tasty AND affordable! All around just a good place I love it here.

I drank a latte and later the Anvil fog, which is similar to a London Fog. Both were very delicious drinks and would have anytime in the future. Both drinks and foods are sold at this location, so definitely a good place to be if you are a student, or even meeting with friends or family. Local craft and artworks are sold as well - so you surely get to encourage locally made items. The atmosphere at the coffee shop is very enjoyable. The noise is fairly quiet, so you get to enjoy the place a lot. Service was another good point at Anvil Coffee House - it was excellent and friendly, fast and very professional. Finally, Anvil coffee house is a very enjoyable place to have food and delicious drinks, and the company you have.

It took awhile to come out, being there were hardly any customers that time of day, but when it came out, it was delicious. Nice bright decor with paintings to look at and friendly staff. My friend liked her salad, which came in a large bowl for around 9 dollars. My Salmon Eggs Benedict was around 20 dollars. Their lattes are quite good as well. Although it's a cafe, my friend says their food is quite good. I would go back for the eggs Benedict and coffee.

Popped in with a friend for a coffee; I had a flat white (pictured) and it was at the perfect temperature to drink all of it while it remained hot. Looks like they brew Catfish coffee, a huge local success that I've had at home a few times, and it makes for excellent coffee. Service is pleasant though the proprietors have chosen to have a tip prompt in the POS system, sigh. We sat at a tall table near the window; plenty of people watching available. There were a couple of tables outside in a corralled-off patio on the parking lot, and one couple brought their little dog with them and sat there, so I guess that's available. There are patisseries in a case that look interesting, and a small menu, and gelato, so if you're hungry you have choices, though since there is no AC I doubt that I would want to eat there in summer.

Service is nice and they bring your food you your table. The breakfast sandwich is just the right size. Today I tried a sandwich called Anthony Bourdain's Favourite Sandwich. If you order a treat to stay, you get that at the til, drinks are picked up at the counter and they call out by beverage order as they are made. My kids were not a fan of the cookie dough donut- it's probably cuz it was a cake donut and they found it a little dry, but I liked it to go with my drink. They also make kid size hot chocolate too and they do a decorative latte finish on top- made my kid feel very fancy & special. I guess some items sell out quickly, I'd like to come back for a chance at the avocado toast before it sells out! Also love how there's free WiFi and a crossword puzzle available!

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!

For $5/person you have unlimited access to, well there were probably close to a hundred board games if not more, for the durations of your visit. Everything is done on a tab, so you go up and order your food and drinks, let the staff know how many people will be at your table, and then you settle the tab when you leave. That way you don't have to worry about someone taking over your property on Park Avenue during an intense game of Monopoly. I met a couple of friends here and we played several games. First up Jumanji, because I am a child of the 90's and that just sounded awesome. Turns out a board game based on a movie based on a book about a magical board game that can cause an elephant stampede or trap you in the jungle isn't as exciting as it seems. There was a secret decoder in the game that I remember from other 90's board games (like Clue Jr), but the game itself was pretty boring. To be fair it's aimed for those 8 and up, so I'm a bit above that target audience. After that wholesome goodness we needed to go in the other direction, so we played Cards Against Humanity. Or I think we played Cards Against Humanity. There were's directions in the game box so we googled how to play and then kind of made up our own rules. I don't know who won, but it was funny. After humour it was time for a depressing game of Life (at least for me - I lost on all accounts). I think a few of the pieces (some Life tiles for sure) may have been missing from this game. It's bound to happen in a place like this, pieces go missing, break, get torn (hopefully from competitive game use and not someone intentionally trying to be a jerk). That $5 admission fee helps to repair old games and buy new ones, but things aren't perfect. Finally we played Mad Gab, the game where you're reading a nonsensical phrase from a card and you're saying something legit, but you don't know what it is (you have to guess). Turns out my friend had this game as a kid and she whooped us with it, so I know what game I'm not playing with here next time I come here. And yes there'll be a next time, because I think this is a great little cafe, and I love the fact there's somewhere in this odd industrial neighbourhood to grab some food and drinks, and have some fun.
