We went on the opening night with the Burger Club free burger offer, so that may have biased me a little bit, but I loved it. The decor is minimalist but kinda fun, and despite the high ceilings the place is not as loud as you would expect. The burger meat was good and more importantly, it was cooked just how I ordered it (medium rare). I had the Byron, which comes with streaky American bacon, among the most authentic I've had since coming to the UK. I also recommend the Chilli burger if you like hot food, it's served with sliced green chillies and a chipotle sauce, and was very tasty. The onion rings were a bit greasy to my taste but the skin on chips were very good, as were the appetizer tortilla chips (a nice change from the Doritos everywhere else seems to serve) and the guacamole and salsa were both nice and fresh. The only other appetizer available beside the tortilla chips is olives, which are nice enough but oddly out of place. They serve A&W root beer, which while not my top choice in the US is still nicer than many. My boyfriend got the Oreo shake, which was nice and thick and very good as well. The brownie was very good and served warm with vanilla ice cream on top and the white chocolate cheesecake was also tasty, creamy and not nearly as sweet as cheesecakes have a tendency to be.

Zomgomgomg! Proper burgers have escaped London and are heading north!…read more Having been to Byron in both Bloomsbury and Covent garden on several occasions, I knew what to expect and was pleased to see that Byron has made the journey north without losing any of its quality and variety. This is a very welcome addition to Leicester Highcross, and is right next door to John Lewis for maximum accessibility. I love the rough-hewn, rustic, warehouse industrial-style decor with it's exposed AC ducting and wooden beams. The staff appear to be quick and efficient on first impressions, but do double-check your order as it can be quite noisy and you wouldn't want to be delivered a Peroni when you asked for a Dead Pony! There's a good variety of drinks including a really sour fresh lemonade and decent milkshakes. Beers and bourbons are well represented and there are several very nice craft beers of varying styles. And the food? Yes. Have it! Come! It's very, very good. But still quite a large portion. You do not need fries each as one just stretches between two. But you should skip the normal fries and try the courgette fries - they're very nice! Burgers are lovely sweet, juicy patties of quality meat. But please, don't spoil them by having them well done? A good burger should be cooked medium or ideally med-rare. Just ask for how you like it, they will do it. A look out for that juicy dill pickle too! Super tangy and crunchy, just how they should be. I can't fault this place after my first visit.

Where to begin with this place? It really is incredible and every bit of food was so tasty! Rule of…read moreTum isn't your typical run-of-the-mill burger joint. First off, you'll notice simple, but sophisticated, decor in the restaurant. It's an old building featuring exposed brick walls, hanging lights, and hand-fashioned wood stools and tables. When it comes to environment/atmosphere they've definitely nailed it! As for the burger - my wife and I both had the Hereford Hop burger and it was insanely delicious! The beef itself is tender and tasty. The patty is formed gently rather than being smashed together, so you get the full texture and flavor of the beef. This particular burger comes with local Hereford cheese, onion rings, a mustard/mayo, and served on a fresh brioche roll. Literally, it's mouth-watering! We also tried the fried cheese curds and the sticky wings and both side items were LIGHTS OUT! The chicken wings were slathered in a BBQ sauce and I'm not lying when I say they were legitimately fall-off-the-bone tender! The breading provided a perfect crisp, crunch on the bite and with one bite all of the meat came off the bone easily. The cheese curds were also incredible and a must! All in all, you're expectations will definitely be met and I would say this is the best burger place in town.

I had to share a long table with two customers what I personally didn't enjoy I did ask to move but we couldn't but this in no way ruined my time at these burger joint I also loved how I could see the kitchen. The staff were very friendly and fast responding . I ordered a burger, sticky wings and a coke after a short wait the food arrived. The burger was amazing, it was good quality and quantity, it didn't fall apart. The wings...they were something else, by far the best wings I've ever had. The chicken fell of the bone so easily, the sauce and spice was delicious you must get the wings. I would most certainly go here again.

Can I just say a huge thank you to Mother Clucker? These guys were my Sunday night Saviours on the…read moreweekend just gone... I should probably explain how a fast food joint saved the day. Sunday was the launch of XP at the Mockingbird Theatre. This is a geek themed event held once a night and is a bit of a mecca for all things board game, computer game, quiz and film orientated. Naturally we had to go. I am currently on a bootcamp scheme (see http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/fit-body-bootcamp-birmingham for info), meaning I am on a strict diet of proteins, fats and No carbs. After consuming a smoothie for my breakfast and a salad for my lunch, I was starving hungry by 5pm. Everyone seemed to be either ordering pizza (a major no-no for me) or heading to Subway for their tea. I thought neither of these would be an option before a helpful person mentioned that Subway did salad bowls, problem solved... Or so I thought. Despite having all of the components of salad, Subway in Digbeth DON'T do salad bowls (and their staff are pretty unhelpful too). In a major grump, I left the store to see what else was on offer on the street. Right next door I came across Mother Clucker. Firstly, they scored a point for having a name that made me snigger, secondly... They couldn't have been more helpful if they tried. After a quick peruse of the menu I opted for lemon and herb chicken (which is served without skin). I asked if I could have some salad with this, after looking at me strangely for a minute - the guy said "Sure, we can do that. It'll be no extra charge". Winner. The chicken was cooked fresh for me as I waited and I requested some lettuce, onion and chillies (all I could have). I was even warned that the salad might be a bit rubbish as it's predominently meant for burgers, but I thought it was sweet that they warned me. My diet friendly feast was a budget busting £3.50. The guys that did end up going to Subway ended up pretty jealous of my dinner after all. This new kid on the block is sparkling clean, very friendly and super helpful. Will I be back? You can bet your bottom dollar I will.
