I went to this establishment on a brisk evening expecting to grab some lumber and go on about my day. Unfortunately that was not the case. The man who goes by the name of Brent was very rude. I am not very educated on lumber and was sent here by my husband so I was expecting some help but he was rolling his eyes when I asked a question. I do not recommend this establishment very sad to see a person like Brent run this place. read more

This is a decent hardware store, but has far less supplies & tools than Lowes. There may be some items they carry, like a specific type of cabinet door handle or pull-knob, but in general, I only go to McCoy's if Lowes & Home Depot don't have a particular item, and then chances are, they don't have it, either. The last time I went here, 3 or 4 employees stared creepily as I walked in. The store must not hav had a customer in some time. But I weaved through the aisles for quite some time and felt their stares, but had to walk up to one of these schmucks to get some help, which merely confirmed they didn't carry what I was looking for. read more

We paid for flooring last week that was supposed to be delivered to the store this past Thursday. (This flooring is 100lb a sheet, we bought 12 sheets) After going through a few employees who couldn't help us find our shipment or anything, we asked about the Brenham store. So we drove way out of our way to pick up a pre-paid shipment without an apology or a discount offered. 1,200 pounds in OUR truck instead of a McCoys truck. read more

One of the worst lumber yard experiences I've ever had. It reminded me of the service I get at Walmart. I went there a day ahead of time to place my order to make sure they had everything I needed and to schedule a pick up time. The man who placed my order was slower than Christmas and more interested in visiting than placing my order. I had to go get one of each item I needed off the shelf because he was too incompetent to look it up in the computer. When I returned the next day to pick up my order the order was not only not ready, it was wrong. Some of the things I asked for missing from my order and some of the things were inadvertently substituted. Some of the things were just wrong. After getting the order straight, I had to return because they didn't load everything I paid for. When it was all said and done, I still couldn't buy the gates I had ordered the day before. I had to go to Lowe's to finish the order. I should've started at Lowe's to begin with. I expected a lot more out of home town service. Very disappointed. read more

Best place in the area for lumber. Also for large amounts of most other common building materials. Takes a bit of time buying because of internal checks, but once you know the drill it isn't bad. If you are picking materials up with a truck or trailer, this is the place to go. The yard is well laid out with room to turn trailers and the help in the yard is good. read more

DO NOT buy a gas hot water from McCoys! I had a contractor, licensed plumber, purchase a gas water from McCoys. He had to order it first, then when he installed it to replace an existing water heater it only worked about 3 min. then the pilot would not re lite. Called McCoys, they said call the manufacturer, which we did. They said all warranties were voided because it had been installed incorrectly. Who else would know how to install the water heater if not a licensed plumber????? So we had to install an electric water heater, because could not ever get the gas to stay lit.....Now we have had to purchase two water heaters and someone should have told us the laws have changed for gas water heater to be installed in homes....ASK ALOT of questions when purchasing a GAS WATER HEATER!!!!! read more

McCoy's is one of those stores that has the hard to find stuff that you are always looking for. One of the big box stores sent me there to look for a hard to find faucet handle. They had it. Everyone was extremely nice. read more

Their website is always difficult to access and most of the time you just can not see it. But they like online ordering! The store has very limited stock on items you may need. Some items are good priced on sale. Their forte is lumber products but the availabilities seemed to me unpredictable. I am better up at Lowes in my area. read more
