I see either Dr. Lip or Dr. Laylor and both are fantastic in their expertise, support and service. The Practice itself is always clean, tidy and has a range of friendly receptionists. The only downside is the difficulty in getting an appointment on the day you need one - it's a little bit of a hit and miss. However, you can usually get one the day after. Overall, still a great Practice.

Not your typical austere clinic. The bright furniture and timber floors create a comfortable and…read morepleasant waiting room. Two front desk staff. And there's a TV. It's thoughtfully laid out, the five consultant rooms join directly to the waiting room; when your name's called, you enter a room that already has a doctor in it. It's easy to get the impression that Globe Medical is only for students and/or travelers. Wrong! Their GP services include: women's and corporate health, vaccinations, skin care services and general appointments. I've seen Dr Chris Rook and Dr. Maggie Phillip. Both were fantastic. Dr. Rook is a legend, he phoned me from home later the night of my appointment to let me know some test results. If they need to drain your b-l-o-o-d... there's a pathology collection centre downstairs. International students: OSHC Worldcare is billed directly (you'll still need to pay the gap). He spent a small fortune at this clinic with the faith she would cure him. Each month we could see him getting worse, looking very pale and losing so much weight. Dad did not survive the surgery. Her treatments obviously were not working but she continued to take his money and send him home with so many potions. He could not remember what to take or when to take it.. the treatment plan confused him and only gave him false hope. She rang to see if he was coming in for an appointment and we had to tell her that he had died. She would have kept treating him and taking his money til he was a skeleton - and even then she would have still said she could cure his cancer. FALSE HOPE is what she is.

Be prepared to wait in Emergency. The triage system means that others will go in front of you if you're not the most acute patient, and there are emergency cases that arrive by ambulance that you may not be aware of, so pack distraction for the patient & something for yourself. Vending machines dispense sandwiches, drinks etc and during working hours the Kiosk run by volunteers has the best priced sandwiches in the area. If you can, stroll down Gallery A to the right of Emergency entrance - the artworks may help you refocus and relax for a few moments. Be polite to the staff - they're doing the best they can under financial and time restraints.

If you've never left Adelaide you might complain about the quality of medical care here, but you…read moreshould know that by international standards, this is as good as it gets. The standard of care is world class, all medical and non-medical staff are expert and professional, training and procedures are very obviously rigorous, and the level of communication between departments is fantastic (though not perfect). We never felt like we were being pushed out, not even for a minute - in fact, at the slightest indication that there might be something further that needed checking out, we were told to stay for further testing and monitoring. Parking is a bit of a hassle - the two official car parks are nearly always full (but the one under the hospital is a baffling $12 for 48hrs!). There is plenty of street parking if at least one person is willing to walk a bit, but most of it is 2P on weekdays, so beware (I saw them giving fines, although I didn't get one myself). If you don't mind a 10-minute walk up to Barton Terrace, there is unlimited free parking up near the horse paddock up there. The hospital cafe is good, cheap, and has a decent selection of packaged and fresh food, as well as free tea and free instant coffee. There's a lot of space and it's never crowded. $10.50 for a full meal during meal times. Like all hospitals, there are people smoking outside the entrance where it's highly irritating to everyone, even though there is a perfectly good smoking area just across the road with benches and ashtrays. This doesn't have anything to do with the hospital administration, it's more of a general gripe against annoying people, but I needed to get that out there, so thanks for listening. And lastly, we got a free baby with our visit, so thanks, AW&CH!

Conveniently located just off South Rd above Sir Donald Bradman, the office is not much to look at but the service inside is excellent. A friend once forgot her appointment there and he called her after she didn't show up 10 minutes later and because she promised to be right there, he kept his appointment with her and moved the schedule around to accommodate her forgetfulness. And for a business in the medical and health industry which is not often known for its compassion in cases of human error, this was a great display of his high quality service. The only bad thing is the consulting rooms share a wall with the busy chemist next door. I don't know when the building was built but they must have made paper thin walls because you can hear all of the happenings in the Chemist! Annoying, but tolerable I suppose.

It also served an army camp located on Springbank Rd for all medical needs. The services extended to family of those who served in the war as everyone had to cope with the trauma of war physically, mentally and emotionally, so they also assisted with psychological therapy as well as physiotherapy. Nowadays, it still continues to play an important part and has also extended its services to the general public. To go there is like going in amongst an army barracks as that was the style it was modelled on, it's all single story for easy access but it is a horizontal maze. The complex also houses a cafe and a gift shop. It basically offers a specialist service for various medical conditions and patients are accepted via a referral from a GP. The referrals are usually for people who do not have private health cover for treatment, and they do have excellent clinic and xray services for outpatients. I once actually managed to get a referral for some physiotherapy but once they learnt I had private health cover (despite the fact I was technically unemployed), I was dismissed from receiving any more treatment.
