I ordered their burger deal and boneless wings off of Rappi. The burger was too finely blended and had that meatloaf seasoning type of taste and chew/springyness that I find off-putting. They loaded the burger with too much mayo and mustard and wet lettuce. At least the bun was decent brioche: soft and fluffy. The boneless wings were too hard to chewy and sat in too much oil. They tasted very homemade in a bad way. It seemed like they were not brined. And the blue cheese they used oddly tasted like sour cream. read more

We stopped in here to get a break from the endless Dos Equis/Corona only Playa Del Carmen beer options, as they seemed to have a fuller beer menu than most area spots. We couldn't find a spot outside, so went in to the bar. I fortunately grabbed my friend before he ordered, as the interior absolutely reeked of what my friend generously guessed was "burnt Parmesan cheese" but I think I more accurately pegged as "acres of puke." Couldn't wait for it to open, as it doesn't open til 2:00pm We spent the two hour wait at Guys across the street until opened. 10 of us went over to give it a try, Worst Idea ever! Ask for Special - Guinness, Jameson and Baileys, waiter had no Idea, pointed to it on menu. Most others ordered just Jameson. He came back to tell me "No Guinness", I said ok SIERRA Stout ok, came back to tell me only Samual Adams Stout, I said fine. Brought all drinks, 4 were incorrect and only brought me Sam Addams, No Jameson or Baileys . Went and paid him only 300 pesos for all, in front of manager, they were both clueless. He asked about tip, told him it would be on table, we like to hide it, hope he's still looking for it. This place is s joke and embarrassment to the Title "Irish Bar". I walked in, ordered an car bomb. The bartender didn't know what I was talking about. I ordered 1 shot of Jameson, and 1 shot of Bailey's -- which they had. I asked them to put it in a shot glass. They were confused and gave it to me in a tumbler. After explaining what a shot glass was, I asked for a 1.2 pint of Guinness. They did not have Guinness. Then I asked for a dark beer, to which they offered me Heineken. I took my shot of Jameson and Bailey's and asked for my bar tab. Even waiting for a bar tab was complicated. I had to ask a few times from a few different people. Paid for my tab, and walked out. This is not an Irish Pub. It's a piece of shit tourist trap bar. They don't train their bartenders, or hosts. Stopped in for a few drinks and some music but had to leave even before the waiter took our order. The band was outrageously loud (I was told by locals it's the norm for McCarthy's) which is totally unnecessary in this small place. Do not go here!!! They take advantage of American tourists. I have visited this place six times in the last 6 weeks. All was good until 2 nights ago when they did not give me back my credit card and then subsequently charged it three more times throughout the night, well after we left. The manager was the one running cards the whole night and there's no way he did not know this was going on. I gave him the opportunity to return my card and refund the charges but instead I will be pursuing fraud with my credit card company. The management was extremely rude. read more

Live music is great. That's about it. Food is garbage. Eat before you come here maybe even pound a few unless you enjoy drinking hot beer. BYOR = Bring your own ranch, they don't serve ranch here only blue cheese. Service is pretty bad upstairs, so avoid going up there. read more

Avoid Mccarthys at all cost. The service is really bad and the manager keeps coming up with ways to charge people more for the same thing you ate the day before. If you want to have a bad experience and get ripped off then this is the place for you. read more

The only thing Irish about this bar is the name and the jersey the server was wearing. A long list of beers was given to us and we rattled of At least five which they did not have. Finally settled on a Guinness and a XX Amber. Received a XX lager. We sat outside as it was stuffy inside. Nice seating with umbrellas to Keep the sun or rain off you. Nice people watching place. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Server was friendly. Unfortunately due to the lack of beer choices we were not impressed with this place. Having one Irish beer does Not make you an Irish pub. It's an attitude and an ambience. This place doesn't have either unfortunately. They played American music which Can be ok but Michael Jackson and Metallica are never heard in real Irish pubs, trust me we have been to Ireland and visited many, and this sealed the deal for a one and done. Zero stars. I sat down. Ordered my drink to watch the game. Took almost 10 minutes for hostess to tell me the table was reserved. There was no signs to indicate that. She told me that it was reserved for 6 people but only 4 chairs there. I politely told her that and that didn't matter. I sat at the bar and finally got my drink but it was not what I ordered. Literally stopped inside and saw that they had bottled Paulaner beer. I ordered one to go and the waiter opened it in front me. I took one sip and knew it was Dos XX!!!!
