The issue was dealing with the Medicare/Medicaid bureaucracy, financial issues, emotional trauma, and logistics of putting my almost 95-year-old mother in a nursing home permanently. I've been taking care of her by myself for five years, but it was time. I am extremely capable online but after countless hours of research I knew I needed help. I threw the switch with these highly recommended folks and the entire process took a little less than two months. At first it was a great deal of work as I understandably needed to provide a substantial amount of financial documentation. Perhaps the best way I can describe how happy I was with these fine folks was the number of times I thought things like this- * OMG, I can't believe I missed that! * OMG, I never would have thought of that! * OMG, I didn't even know that existed! * OMG, that was way too much for me to handle! The folks here were professional and responsive the entire time! Shop Around & Get Quotes for Better Pricing & Service I am…read morewriting this personal opinion review to encourage others to shop around before contracting with Jason Penrod and Family Elder Law (FEL) - scroll to the end of this review for a list of recommended attorneys offering the same service for less than half the price of FEL. In a nutshell, my family contacted FEL for a simple irrevocable trust (IT) for the benefit of our mother who has dementia. The trust was to be funded with just 3 assets: her mobile home, car, and CDs issued from the same bank. We were quoted a price of $8000 by Mr. Penrod. We were astonished by such a high price for such a simplistic IT. However, we agreed to the price, erroneously believing that the elevated pricing included management of the trust, which we later discovered it did not. I will only state that my sister and I were very busy and in such a hurry to get the IT drafted that we did not take the time to obtain quotes from other attorneys, and that was our foolish mistake. It was not until another attorney I know in Florida told me that we could have gotten the IT (with Medicaid Asset Protection Trust (MAPT) elements) for half of what we paid Family Elder Law that I took the time to actually contact other attorney offices and verified this as true. Based upon these findings, we asked Mr. Penrod for a $3000 partial refund. Our request was denied. As such, I want to educate others and give recommendations to the following reputable, reasonably priced firms operating in the same geographical area as FEL The below quotes are for the exact same service with the exact same assets for which Family Elder Law charged us $8000. Be advised that these attorney firms are not "elder law" specialists. However, to draft the simplistic templated IT/MAPT that we received - and wishing to fund it with only 3 noncomplicated assets - an elder law specialist is not required. An estate planning attorney, or even an attorney with trust drafting experience is equally as qualified, this opinion is based upon my being a retired California attorney. She didn't fight for anything or did any of the investigation that I wanted her to do I had to do that on my own to move the process quicker. I ended up with nothing no alimony to get back up on my feet when this man stayed with everything! They also told me that if we won't agree at the time of mediation I would have to pay more. We ended up agreeing and now I'm seeing a bill when we didn't go past mediation. But not only that He was in charge of paying all of the lawyer fees ! I was recommended to Ashley Copley office by another lawyer in miami since my case was in highlands county. Terrible decision!

And relator is friends with the seller TJ Wohl who also is an attorney here. We have attempted multiple times to have issues resolved with the home that were in the contract via relator. Along with getting the actual keys to the property (still don't have them ) we over paid for.. we were told the mini spilt unit was under warranty and would be fixed prior to closing. Then that it would be after. It's 8months later and it's still not fixed. And they want to charge me to replace the unit. It has a hole in a line and both the seller and contractor knew as it was in paperwork from the ac company who looked at it. If we knew they were all together. We wouldn't have closed or used the attorney we were told was good to.
