I'm not sure how Yelp decided that my review below was a review of the Courthouse Station when it was actually a review of the Silver Line but here we are and I'm now ready to review Courthouse Station. Located underneath Seaport Boulevard, it is located a block from the Moakley Courthouse. The station is also very close to the Institute of Contemporary Art. It is completely unlike any other MBTA station I've been to with polished stone floors and brushed steel finishes. Fully handicapped accessible with escalators and elevators between the platform level and street level. There are ticketing kiosks and turnstiles. Courthouse is on the Silver Line between South Station (the inbound terminus) and World Trade Center (outbound, towards Design Center). Buses for SL1, SL2 and SL3 stop here. And it's worth noting that the Silver Line is not trolleys or subway trains. It is a bus service, either regular or articulated "bendy" buses that are electric and/or diesel. read more

As a visitor to Boston, I have to say the Silver Line is a terrific service getting to and from Logan Airport. The Silver Line is actually broken up into four different routes so I feel like perhaps there should be separate listings for each. My only experience is with SL1 which runs between South Station in Boston and Logan Airport. Upon arriving into Boston at Logan Terminal C, I followed the signs for public transportation. But there didn't seem to be any signage for the Silver Line. The signs seemed to direct me outside to the curb, but what I found there were buses for other routes, not the Silver Line. I ended up spotting a Silver Line bus further down the terminal about to leave and got in on time. If you are taking the Silver Line for the first time, look outside for the specific stop at the terminal you are located at. The Silver Line makes stops at each terminal (A, B, C and E), with 2 at Terminal B. At Logan Airport, both the front and back entrance will open up. You are free to enter through either door as riding the Silver Line is free from Logan Airport. What other US city offers you free transportation from the airport? Unheard of. After the airport, the bus makes a few stops before reaching its final stop at South Station. If you need to take the Red Line, you can transfer within the station without having to exit meaning a free ride to Cambridge and Braintree. Though you will need to pay for the return trip back to Logan. As for service, I found that the Silver Line runs pretty regularly. I didn't wait more than a few minutes for either trip on the Silver Line. The buses were somewhat full, but I like that the buses have storage spaces for your luggage so you don't have to keep your luggage next to you at all times. I wouldn't recommend taking the Silver Line if you have more than one piece of heavy luggage though as it would be too much trouble. If you are traveling in Boston and the Silver Line is convenient to your location, I would recommend taking it to and from Logan Airport. It is economical and the frequent bus service between South Station to Logan Airport makes it convenient for easy connections to other public bus/train lines in Boston. read more

I don't care how much of silver paint, you put on it..... But buses are fuckin' buses - period. Silver-Line-Rapid-Transit-My Ass I think it's good and convenient only between South Station and Silverline way. Beyond that? Forget it. If you are planning to take that to go to the airport, make sure to give yourself plenty of time because if you have to watch 5 buses going by til airport one arrives. Also, they frequently uses the kind that doesn't have luggage rack. These people lack common f-in' sense. Because of that, all those big ass luggage blocks the path and quickly fills up the bus despite of many seats being available. I've taken Downtown Crossing - Dudley one. It is sooo wrong to use the name "line". - One whose name contains "Line" should not be stuck in traffic jam. - One whose name contains "Line" should not have its dedicated lane buried with plowed snow. It's a fuckin' bus. Rename it back to the one with route number. It's extremely misleading. You are fraud. And paint your body with with white and yellow line like the others. read more

Ever wondered what it would be like to ride a Transformer? Wonder no more, the Silver Line is here. Just before it transitions from the underground tunnels to the streets or vice versa, the Silver Line vehicle has to take a moment to transform into a bus or a train, as appropriate. It's just one weird moment amidst a very odd public transit experience. The Silver Line and its stations (at least in Southie) are clean, bright, and modern. Right away something is strange when there's no garbage, graffiti, or brown stains on the seat upholstery. Every time I've ridden the Silver Line, the route has been otherwise deserted. Granted, I usually ride the SL2. Still, I wouldn't expect any part of Boston to be such a ghost town. Strangest of all is how nice the drivers can be. Last night, I was the only remaining passenger on a train-bus when the driver offered to take me to my destination instead of the bus stop! (I declined. I've seen how that TV movie ends.) Truthfully the Silver Line is a little embarrassing. It's visibly evident that Boston began to make another underground subway line and lost interest partway through. The poor Silver Line is an unholy hybrid of bus and train designed to make the most of an aborted tunneling project. You know you've taken anthropomorphism too far when you're feeling pity for a bus-train. read more

I guess I will have to agree with the reviews here of the Silver Line because I really didn't like it much when I had to take it as it was one of the only ways to get to Yankee Fish Market and Harpoon Brewery. The terminals were very empty and the buses were infrequent and too far apart. The stations were also a bit further apart than most so it was hard to gauge whether it'd be easier to just walk. I assume this area of town doesn't get a whole lot of traffic but if you find yourself stuck here, don't hope for the Silver Line to come save you. read more

The bus is free from Logan to Boston, it's pretty fast, and it comes by often. There's a good amount of space for luggage and there are three places to get in and out of the bus. Compared to the options at Vancouver or Seattle, however, the perks are really not that special (they have an awesome subway system that can take people straight to Downtown from the airport). Also, the bus is dirty as hell... I can't see anything outside at all. The bus practically has heavily frosted windows installed, except they're not frosted, just dirty. I wonder how often they clean the rest of the bus... read more

When returning to Boston after a trip away - the Silver Line is a very welcomed site at Logan Airport. The Sliver Line is free from Logan Airport and it connects you with the subway at South Station. The buses have storage space for luggage since they know that most of the riders are going to or coming from the airport. Thank you Silver Line for making my commute home easier! read more

If it were possible to give the Silverline bus SL4 a zero-star review, this would be it. This is definitely one of the worst buses that I have taken in my life. In fact, I am looking forward to moving out of South End, in large part because of this. Trying to get to South Station is painful. The SL4 is unreliable, very slow, full of people that like to project their own problems onto innocent commuters, and the bus lane is often blocked by illegally parked cars. From overcrowded busses during peak hours, to "we're sorry for the unconvinced, the SL4 is experiencing delays..." Followed by: "Next SL4 in 18-20 minutes" (at 9:15AM on a Wednesday? And with no snow or rain? And the average rider. Takes forever to find their money to pay. Did I mention money? Many people slow down the loading of the bus by digging for their change instead of loading a Charliecard. Then there are the ignorant women who've never heard of birth control. One baby in her lap and another stroller blocking the isle and the front of the bus. read more

Back when the Silver Line was proposed there was much promise that the line would further make public travel in Boston much more convenient & reliable. In many ways it has but there have been some faults with the system. Many people do not know that it is a series of hybrid stretched buses rather than trains. On the SL1 line, it "transforms" at the Silver Line Way MBTA Station it shuts off & converts to either electric or diesel power. Some people find the process a bit unnerving. But the robotic voice of the MBTA overlords give you fair warning. I have noticed lately that the vehicles headed to Logan Airport from South Station tend to be overly full especially on the weekends & no more vehicles ever seem to be added to alleviate the sardine-like conditions. And because it is road based, it has to dictated to the traffic jams of the tunnels which it shares with the rest of the public. The buses themselves are getting a bit old & are not well maintained. There is always trash rolling about inside & it does not matter what time of the day you board one. Overall the line gives good options to parts of the city that are otherwise underserved, like Dudley Square, but as most things MBTA related, the vehicles need some TLC. read more

We had to utilize the SL2 bus to get back to the cruise ship terminal. This was part of the Silver Line. We waited around 15-20 minutes for the bus to arrive at the underground South Station. The amount of time it took for us to wait was a little longer than we thought. It felt so long (probably because I was overeager to get back to the ship so I could eat and then jump into the hot tub - lol) that I asked a worker sitting in his office when the next SL2 bus would arrive, in which he pointed to the bus on the other side of the station. He then explained that after the unloading was finished, it would be ours for departure once it came around the loop. Once the bus arrived, we all got on, and managed to find seats. The first half of the trip almost felt like we were riding on a subway since we were in a tunnel and came across a stop (or two) that was also underground without any "stop and go" traffic. We came across another stop that was right outside the tunnel portal. That reminded me of the time when I rode on the Metro in Maryland and approached a stop that was also outside the tunnel portal. The other half of the trip was just a normal "stop and go" bus ride in city traffic. The bus driver's attitude was calm. He didn't talk much until we got close to the cruise ship terminal. We noticed the terminal, but it was on the other side of the street and the bus kept on going. We asked if there was a certain spot where we had to get off for that, and he calmly explained that he had to follow a certain route in order to get to where we needed to go and assured us that we would be there. Other times, it was the electronic voice that announced the bus stops. Inside, the bus was clean and the seats were just okay, but looked a bit worn out. But what I really noticed was the type of bus that we rode on. This was one of those hybrid buses that operated on either fuel or ELECTRICITY (via catenary wires). I saw those type of buses before when I was visiting a friend in San Francisco, and she explained to me that the riding experience on the electric bus was practically no different than riding the regular one, besides the fact that this bus was utilizing electricity to operate and/or save fuel. Halfway during our ride, our bus stopped and everything got shut off. Seconds later, the bus got re-activated again, but this time via fuel since there were no catenary wires above us. On the other side of the street, I saw another SL bus stop randomly, and then reactivate itself via electricity. I saw it's sensors on the roof move up and connect to the catenary wires above. Very interesting. Overall, my experience was very good. I do recommend this to anyone who's trying to head back to the cruise ship from downtown, but is tired from all of the walking. read more

In a Seinfeld style... "What's the deal with the Silver Line?" Is it a bus? Is it a tram? Is it a T? Does it go anywhere useful other than the airport? Will it ever ever get there? Is one ever coming? WTF? Seems to me like the MBTA needed to please about 6 unions so made an inane heterogeneous mode of transport so that everyone could have a share and instead it does nothing for anyone and makes the trip to the airport seem to take forever. Were the taxi driver unions in on this? For maximum silliness, make sure you're onboard for the little loop before the airport tunnel when they have to turn all the power off to switch from electric and get the diesel engines up and running. read more

The most recent addition to the MBTA service network is a worthwhile one at that! I predominantly use the Silver Line to travel between the city and the airport. We're lucky enough to have the airport in close proximity to downtown, so this is a great way to link the two up at a reasonable cost. I live in the city and relatively close to the airport and still get a bit of sticker shock when taking a cab ($28...cough cough). Spending $2.00 and taking the MBTA....much better. Depending on when my flights leaves (especially early morning flights), I try to build in sufficient time to save the money. The MBTA is currently running a promotion in which service from the airport to South Station is FREE. The Silver Line buses stop at each terminal. The buses stop at the arrivals area usually at the front of the pick up area just outside baggage claim. There are a few routes that depart from South Station...if you are headed to the airport SL1 is your bus. Most of the buses have storage racks set up for luggage which is definitely helpful as the bus does make some sharp turns on its way to the airport. Yes the bus drives pretty slowly, but I've found it to be a major improvement over taking the Blue Line to the airport. read more

Bus rapid transit (BRT) has its roots in Latin America - overwhelmed, overpopulated cities that could not afford to spring for subway or electric trams systems decided -- and rightfully so -- that it would make sense to create "bus subways" in their cities. In those cities, buses, like the ones used on the Silver Line, are given dedicated lanes and unique stations -- generally, they operate very efficiently. Unfortunately, the system in Boston is executed in a manner worse than that which is present in Bogota, Quito or Guatemala City. In Boston, dedicated lanes only exist for parts of the line. Also, bus stations are sometimes subway-esque -- as is the case at South Station -- but are often nothing more than a bus shelter. Further, the buses awkwardly transition between "electric bus" and "diesel bus." As a result, at one point on your ride between Logan and South Station, you will enjoy a brisk breeze on your bus as the driver is forced to get up, leave the door open, walk outside, and prepare the bus for future electric or non-electric operation. It I were the city of Boston or commonwealth of Massachusetts, I would be incredibly embarrassed that international visitors to MIT and Harvard are forced to use such a shoddy form of transportation to travel between the city's two major transportation hubs. In the future, Boston should replace the "Silver Line" with light rail trains if it wants to have any hope of maintaining its status as a world-class city. read more

Dear Silver Line, I don't understand how you are a line with two segments that don't connect. I know that your airport/waterfront section is a boondogle which the US taxpayers should be much more upset about than the Big Dig. I took the Silver Line to the airport this evening to catch my flight. Let me just say that I'm imagining that given the lack of anything to do on the waterfront currently that most of their traffic goes to Logan. The first bus arrives and the LED board outside says SL2 Logan Airport. Foolishly I get on this bus, only to have the lady driving yell "This isn't going to the airport." Of course it's not. Why would it do that? Then I get off and watch two more buses arrive that are going to the Waterfront. They arrive and leave empty. I don't get it. They must be losing money. It's like they built a bus line for the future, when development comes to that area. Way to go MBTA. In my mind, this should be an airport only thing until more than 7 people need to go out to City Point/Waterfront. read more

In theory, the silver line is great. But it doesn't GO anywhere. The courthouse stop isn't that close to the courthouse, and the same can be said of the WTC/BCEC stop -- it's close to neither. It's one of those issues where something's good in theory but not in practice. There's almost no point to it being underground where it is, either. The waterfront in Southie is not exactly teeming with traffic. Now, the other half? That probably would've been good underground. Oh well. read more

Both branches: - Even the biggest buses hold fewer people than half a two-car Green Line train. Notice how people complain how bad it is when single car Green Line trains go out? Designing a system to be worse than that under the best conditions is ridiculous. Feels cramped under the best conditions. Silver Line Washington St: - The T randomly stops using 60' articulated buses on the weekends. This doesn't seem to have any relationship to the number of people actually waiting to use the system. The 40' buses end up jam-packed to the front door by the SECOND STOP. - The countdown timers often have no relationship to reality. - The shelters have yet to shelter me from anything. - Washington St. buses are dirty. Silver Line Waterfront: - You paved this tunnel about four years ago? Really? It feels like we're driving on a dirt road. Alarmingly, the tunnels roadbed is always partially flooded with water in places. Design / construction failure. - Slower underground in its own private tunnel than it is above-ground in mixed traffic. Design failure. - The stoplight between World Trade Center and Silver Line way should give buses priority. It doesn't. Design / construction failure. - It stops being electric and starts belching out diesel fumes. Requires a clumsy changeover in both directions. Design failure. - The stations are beautiful. - Waterfront buses are always immaculately clean. The T seems to have invested in bottles of "New Bus Smell" as well. read more

The "T"s Silver BUS is just that... a slow moving bus that stops at almost every possible spot between South Station and the airport. If you need to get to the airport, the Blue Line (which is an actual subway line not a bus) will get you there in 1/2 the time, even changing from another line. Avoid the Silver Bus when ever possible. read more

The Silver Line which goes down Washington Street after originating at Dudley is just the old #49 diesel bus route. It has been given a more important sounding name, big bright new buses and fancy subway like stations, but alas it is still a bus. The South Station/Airport route might serve more passengers if it were used to connect the Red Line with the Blue Line Airport Subway Station. Right now this Silver Line bus only goes directly to the airport where you would have to catch an airport shuttle bus to get to the Blue Line Station. Diverting the Silver Line bus to include the Airport Subway Station would connect East Boston with the Red Line, so much easier and less time consuming than having to take 3 trains. The Orange and the Green Lines which now must be used to connect are so often packed like sardines and there is no elevator in Government Center Station. Although there have been plans to eventually connect the Blue Line with the Red Line at Charles Station, that would require extensive construction and disruption of traffic etc. Connecting the Red Line to the Blue Line via the Silver Line would be a temporary easy fix until a subway connection can be built. In Boston as usual it's all about making it easier for tourists and business travelers coming into the airport than local subway riders who depend on the Blue Line to get around. read more

So I commute on the T all the time. I have never gotten so close to getting violent than trying to get on a jammed packed silverline bus/train thingy at Courthouse. Went to the ski and snowboard expo then dinner. Then walked to courthouse to get on the train. after waiting for 10mins and a bus coming (that was full of people) i was hoping everyone would squeeze in. Now I go to try and get on, and I see there's some room at the front for people to squeeze in... sure we'd be on the line, but the punk that i almost pulled off the bus was already hugging the door and over the line. So I go to get on, and the driver tells me no. Then this kid that himself barely in any sort of regulatory 'safe zone' in his enormous winter hat w/ the flaps down and his aviator sunglasses on (its 9pm btw) tells me to settle down. I'll show him settled down as i pull his arse from the bus and make him wait for the posted 15-20mins for the next bus. I get it that the bus driver didn't want to over load the bus. I don't need attitude from other MBTA passengers, we're all trying to get home and all trying to fit on... If we are going to get anywhere in the world its gotta be us vs them. not us vs us. Riding the subway makes me punchy. read more

These busses run between Logan International and South Station, where you can catch the MBTA redline and also commuter and Amtrak trains. It is free to board from Logan to South Station. The busses are crowded so be prepared to stand if necessary. There are luggage racks. The silver line stops at all Logan terminals. Even paying from South Station back to Logan, it is only about $2.50 or $2.75, much cheaper than Uber or a taxi. Yay, I am a fan. read more

Not that the Silver Line cares... at all, but it is soooooo bad. I have gotten used to the fact that is is never even close to on time, used to the fact that it is almost always packed and people refuse to move in and no one makes them. I am used to it being so dirty. Used to the surly employees yelling at me because I step in front of the yellow line (even though that provision does not apply when we are underground), even used to the forced rubbing up against total strangers and they me... I just don't care anymore. But now, they are so careless and negligent that they are turning off the electric power on the buses (probably need service) and using the regular (engine underground). Guys... it is called CARBON MONOXIDE. I am tired of breathing in exhaust in a confined space. read more

Growing up in Boston, I followed the saga of the old Orange Line, and figure that when it was torn down, it would get replaced by something similar. I didn't know the MBTA very well back then. In the years since, there was much talk about how the replacement service for the Orange Line might be a light rail line between Dudley and Downtown that would connect with the Green Line through an unused tunnel that exits the subway near Tufts Medical Center. This would have worked out perfectly, and would have given the South End and Roxbury a decent transit option. Of course this was not how it was done, and now we have what the MBTA refers to as "Bus Rapid Transit". An oxymoron I think. I've ridden the Silver Line on several occasions, and while waiting at traffic lights and seeing other vehicles blocking the "private bus lanes", I though that the MBTA really could have done much better with this project. This line leaves much to be desired, and calling it any form of rapid transit seems to be a stretch. read more

This is the most retarded "subway" ever. I mean, its not horrible but it makes no sense at all. First there are 3 branches, one goes to airport and the other 2 to somewhere in south boston. It took almost an hour to go from south station to the airport. The most f-ed up ever is that the silver line doesn't connect to the blue line. I mean its a BUS, its easy to connect to the blue line station. It gets packed with travelers with lots and lots of luggage, its a bus so you will probably fall if you are standing. The other dumb thing is that it doesnt connect to the other half of the silver line. Ok im stopping here its too aggravating and a waste of time. My silver line experiences have been limited to the South Station side of things. It's always come ina timely fashion, it's never gross, and it gets me to and from work every morning. So all you silver line haters can suck it, because i'm giving it four stars. They really oughta name the other Silver line, the one that leaves from Boylston, something completely different. Like the Chrome Line or something. It really isn't indicative of silver whatsoever. read more

I am someone who HATES the MBTA with a passion. Seriously, I've complained to the MBTA a number of times for a myriad of reasons. Then, to go to the Cirque du Soleil last night, we took the silver line (from South Station). I was shocked at how great it was. The stations are clean (clean?!?!), the buses are efficient, and it was a positive experience. The two silver lines should connect, though. Make South Station a connecting one to both sides of the silver line, and everyone is happy. Okay, maybe. If only the other lines could follow suit, I'd be happy. Okay.. so a stray bullet hit the window a few inches from my friend's head when riding the silver line in the South End. That was a couple years ago. And who cares if I ran to the stop 5 minutes before the schedule said there would be a bus and saw 3 go by (represented by the finger puppet picture I posted). And pssshhhaaaa.. if I can never board because a woman with a cart is taking up too much space and I have to contort Cirque du Soleil style when people try to push their way in at the next stop. Now that I live in Somerville I can do a quick switcheroo at South Station to get to the airport. Two thumbs up for the airport side of the silver line for running late (as in late at night, not later than scheduled) and saving me cab fare on more than one occasion. read more

I love that I can take this directly from the Red Line instead of having to do the whole blue line shuttle mess. It is convenient and quick. Definitely the best way to get to the airport on public transit if you're anywhere near the red line. The two things to remember are that 1)this is a bus not a train, and 2)do not get this confused with the Dudley Station Silver Line bus. read more

I take the Silver Line every weekday to and from Chelsea and Airport Station. I will admit that I like the convenience of the stops, however the timing is never accurate. I have been stuck out in the cold waiting up to 30 minutes plus when it is supposed to be 11-13 minutes. I understand traffic plays a big factor, but I do not know why they can't add more busses to this route during commuter hours. It is very hard to be reliant on this service and be on time. Also the Chelsea St. Bridge going up and down is another issue unrelated to the MBTA that can delay your commute time on the Silver Line. A lot of people who I commute with everyday are frustrated with the same issues. More buses need to be added especially when the weather is cold. read more

Sadly, the Silver Line is a let down. I come from Davis on the Red Line and change at South Station to take the Silver Line to the airport. I had high hopes when I took my first ride, but those hopes quickly faded. The speed limits in the tunnels are set so low that you feel like bus is just barely rolling. The aisles are too narrow for people to get down with their luggage and the load and unload times are so long that you find yourself sitting there saying "just MOVE already!" There is much room for improvement and I think if they actually analyzed where they are wasting time, they could move things along at a better clip. My suggestions would be: 1) Increase tunnel speeds immediately! After all, no street bus or train rolls in and out of a station at 5mph, why the heck should the SIlver Line? 2) Why do you need TWO gates at Silver Line way when entering the tunnel, get rid of one! And why must the bus come to a full and complete stop before entering the tunnel? It's nauseating. On that same path, they should also wire the traffic lights to give precedence to the approaching bus. Too often you just sit there with no traffic on the cross street. 3) Have someone waiting to attach and remove the electric wires 4) Get rid of some of the side-by-side seats so you can actually move down the aisle with a suitcase. For me, going Red-Orange-Blue-Shuttle is actually the same amount of time as just Red-Silver, only the trains don't have that jerky awkward bus feeling. read more

A bus that sounds like a subway line. Because of this we had to get help buying tickets because we weren't sure what we were riding. Followed the signs that mentioned the airport but then they said something about the U.N. ??? It turned out to be the next stop towards the airport. Why not just stick with the original end destination name? Arg! Finally got on and rode until we had to stop for the bus to switch to diesel power. It took a few minutes for a few start attempts but we finally got going and made it to the airport. It totally reminded me of being in another less predictable country. read more

I've used the Silver Line bus from Boston airport to downtown quite a bit in the last year. From the airport, it's free, so how can I complain about that? The other way is like $2. It's not the quickest bus in the world, but it's good value for where it goes, and it's really convenient. read more

So I did not realize that there were two "Silver" lines. The first, the Washington St to Dudley Square one, is still a little bit of a mess, and is a bus line. The only thing that makes it a unique bus line is that they have the time thing, so you know when a bus is coming. That's helpful for when I've just gotten my hair cut over at State Street Barbers and want to decide whether to walk back down East Berkeley towards Copley, or take the line back to Downtown Crossing. This line gets 2 stars. Line #2 is underground. Like, crazy-ass underground. Furthermore, the stations are beautiful. Have you ever seen the Courthouse station? Holy crap! I really should review that. It's like frackin' pristine. And the line is relatively quick and easy to get from South Station down towards Logan et al. This line gets 4 stars. Therefore, the Silver Line gets a raise. I like it more than the Green Line. read more

Like 80s futurists who imagined us bustling around on hoverboards and wearing VR headsets, the design team behind the Courthouse must be unflagging optimists. Though primarily servicing cracked parking lots and ornery seagulls, I decided to try Courthouse en route to the ICA one rainy afternoon. The lobby is impossibly large with scrubbed steel tiles on every wall. I was there around 5pm on a weekday and shared the cavernous space with just one other traveller. As I approached the escalators, I saw a man with a mop emerge from a side door on the opposite wall. Take your next existential crisis underground. Put your troubles in perspective and emerge refreshed from Courthouse. read more

Been taking the SL4 and SL5 almost daily for the past 3 years with very few complaints. The wait rarely exceeds 1-2 minutes and I'm always pretty confident that I'll get to TUSM, Downtown Crossing or wherever I need to go in a timely manner. The crowd on the buses can be questionable sometimes though, especially at night. read more

I do not live in Boston repeat I do not live in Boston. If I did I may share the same hostility of other reviewers. I have my own issues with the MTA in NYC so I will throttle them with my anger as the issues some Boston residents seem to complain of are the same. I was pleased with the Silver Line service to South Station-it was quick and easy. The bus was crowded. There was a luggage rack. It was a mildly more pleasant experience than I had on the M60 which was my bus trip to and from LGA. read more

So the Silver Line Waterfront doesn't really go anywhere interesting except the airport. It's a bit hard to get to, because I have to take the Green to the Red to get to it. And it doesn't connect to the other Silver Line, so it doesn't make any sense, either. However, the Silver Line Waterfront gets three stars just for amusing me. The first time I took it, I went and stood in the area at South Station, I realized I was standing on some sort of platform, like a T stop, except there was a little road where a train track would be. Then I noticed the overhead wires. A bus, that's also a train? Alas, it was! A bus that drives on electric power through a tunnel with (very nice) stations like a train. I haven't been this amused by a mode of transportation in a long while. It would probably make more sense for the MBTA to connect the two Silver Lines at South Station (you can see South Station from Washington Street) and turn it into a light rail. But since when does the MBTA do anything sensible? read more
