Words cannot express how much I love this place. So I won't describe this place. I'll just tell…read moreit like it is. The number of times this quaint little copy place has saved my big fat arse during my 6 years at university through to my Masters program are countless. Count I can not in the wise old words of Yoda. They were open during the times I needed an assignment printed out, copied, binded, laminated, postered, you name it. These guys are awesome. Maybe it's the fact that they have many machines, or are located at an easy to walk in walk out spot of Toowong Village Shopping Centre. I don't know! But I do know that it works and I am not the only one it has saved. When my printer broke down and started eating my paper. When my printer started printing out gibberish instead of my assignment. When my printer ran out of or never had any ink. Did I even have a printer? Maybe I should have paid that extra $10 for the better brand I'm thinking. When group assignments turned to their last waking hour. When important presentations needed important binding in a colour which meant 'I mean business'. When you needed a million documents copied, binded, copied again, binded again. When binding fails. This place has been there for me through all these times. The guy who runs it has run it for many many years and is still there going strong! The prices for copies are not expensive at all he's very good at binding in under 1 minute. He didn't know I was timing him that one time, but I was, and again, in the wise words of Yoda... Impressed I was. If you are in need of a make shift office - try this place out, you will feel pretty at 'eeze'... at 'quick eeze' even.

It was going to cost me $120 to have a 39 page document printed in colour and bound. I couldn't…read morebelieve they were charging $2.95 per page! I was shocked and speechless so I left. I went to Officeworks and paid $31.

I've noticed that the office staff often appear unhelpful and unwelcoming. There's usually no…read moregreeting or effort to assist customers promptly. At times, I've seen staffs chatting among themselves instead of attending to people waiting for service. This lack of customer focus might explain why there are fewer customers here compared to places like JB Hi- Fi or the Apple Store, where customer services is much more engaging and professional.

Personally, I can't wait for the time when my printer runs out of ink, or I run out of paper, or…read moreschool is starting and I just need to get highlighters in every possible colour. Let's not forget about the regularly occuring need to stock up on sharpies, USBs, notebooks, journals and staplers. I have a self imposed ban upon entering Officeworks unless I absolutely need to. If I do go there, I need to have a guardian with me who will hold my purse. I am a stationary fiend. I can justify any purchase. Not surrendering to Officeworks is sometimes the biggest challenge of my day. When they designed Officeworks, they had me in mind. They said "lets build a colossal multi-level store devoted to stationary and home office needs. The office workers, the creatives, the students, the parents will come in DROVES. Just watch them." It's a brilliant idea. Who doesn't need pens? Even farmers need pens. Astronauts, too. You can get EVERYTHING you need from Officeworks- well, all the basics at least. Forget fancy artist pen sets, go for the Faber Castell set of 24 connector pens. That'll do the trick. Printers, computers, iphones, ipods, phones, external hard drives and all associated accessories can be found here. The staff are extremely friendly and really do like to show off their knowledge of the home office machines. "Oh, your Mac won't recognise your external hard drive? Well that's because X doesn't...". Yes, you will have those conversations and you'll love it because you'll walk out with the right bits and bobs you need. Let's not forget they have photo printing facilities as well as on demand copying services. Ohh! The joy. The SHEER JOY of being handed warm paper just off the press is sometimes too much for me to handle. Bonus points for the selection of chocolate bars they sell at the counter. Shopping does make you hungry.

Sensible stationary is like work shoes and clothes. Not very pretty but you can appreciate that…read morethere's a place and a time for it. After all you can hardly meet a potential client toting a Kikki K diary organiser and a glittery pen. This is where Officeworks comes in. The Officeworks brand has expanded to match the changing times. This was the place where I once bought my stationary for school. Now they've expanded to a decent range of printers, hard drives and office software. The other night, I even came here to search for decent office chairs and desk sets. There print and copy centre is worth a try if you're after standard photocopies and digital prints. I've had one bad experience where I was unhappy with the quality of their printed business cards but when I complained, the staff cheerfully refunded my money. With that in mind, I still use their print centre for last minute print jobs and emergencies. I don't think you can find a cheaper price or a shorter turn around unless you go online. Also while they are definitely not doing funky furniture or stationary, they are a reliable brand and reasonably priced too.

Overall terrible experience. I'm not sure what it is about office works, but it seems like they…read morejust cannot keep up with today's printing needs. Every Time I attempt to use their self-print services there is some sort of malfunction that turns a 2 minute job into a 50+ minutes. Today it seemed like there was ample staff wandering around the store but not a single one in the area I needed assistance. Further to this, when I approached the print desk to seek help, two staff members continued their conversation for well over 2 minutes before even acknowledging me. Seems like office works has had the market cornered for too long now and I think they could do with some healthy competition for a dose of reality. If you can do it at home or online, I would avoid this place for sure. Over and out!
